Not terrible, but I loathe Nexstar's obsession with "local" brandings. It's cheesy but I know Perry Sook is obsessed with emphasizing localism. Whether that actually trickles down into a better news product or is just a veneer is up for debate.
Their reputation for cheapness has a basis in reality. They don't have a stellar reputation in the business...it's not just confined to websites like this. It's more how they treat employees versus their presentation/stuff that gets focused on here. Just look on Glassdoor (esp. reviews from news department employees)...
That being said I've never worked for them, so I can't speak to any of this from personal experience.
