  1. A 12-minute preview of what was going to be the cable channel Volver, launched by Artear on August 1st, 1994. The channel airs old Argentine TV shows and movies, similar to Decades and MeTV in the US. The music themes for the promos and IDs were composed by Eddie Sierra.

  2. Eduardo Rodriguez reads a news summary from TN (Todo Noticias) on the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, 1998. Includes promos of the channel's programming and a commemoration of its 5th year on the air.

Here is a rare Richmond news goodie...a WXEX news open and clip from March 1984.

You can view this news open at 1:56:34, but beware...there may be low audio.

I didn't know that Janet Peckinpaugh worked in Richmond before moving to Connecticut.

  4. The first minutes of SIC's main evening newscast with José Alberto Carvalho at the anchordesk (January 19, 1998). The top story that night is the visit of President Jorge Sampaio to a school in Porto, as he talks to the people and kids in the classroom.

  5. From Portugal: a full broadcast of SIC's late news in April 1998. SIC's late news bulletins that aired on weekends were shorter than the weeknight editions (only ran for 5 or 6 minutes) and an announcer/reporter introduced the stories instead of an on-camera anchor.

  6. Almost 6 years ago on January 14th, 2013, Portuguese TV station RTP1 premiered a colorful identity, proudly showing timelapses with the country's most beautiful landscapes, monuments and people, reflecting its commitment to the people of Portugal. It's magnificent! Unfortunately, these IDs were pulled from the station in March 2016.

  7. A portion of the 1998 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony taped from Canal 13, narrated by Gonzalo Bonadeo (June 9, 1998). Includes two promos of the station's coverage of the Cup (see 13:09 and 39:28), calling themselves as "the professionals", and a brief news preview, voiced by the late Débora Pérez Volpin (see 59:27)

  8. To celebrate Crónica TV's 25th anniversary, here's an ID that aired during the channel's early years.

This channel revolutionized the industry by introducing a different way of reporting the news: adding impact and a bizarre touch to the stories, sometimes it was first on the scene or broke stories before the rival channels. Crónica invented the "red slides", always accompanied by "Stars and Stripes Forever" from John Philip Sousa, letting us know that something important happened! It was the first news channel that stayed on air during the night with permanent newscasts, while the other channels aired pre-recorded programs or hourly headlines. It collected several Martín Fierro awards for "best cable news service" in the 1990s, defeating its main competitor Todo Noticias (TN).
Here's how Crónica remembers its first day on air, as told by the presenters of its first newscast:

  9. January 4th, 1999: the day when Canal 9 became Azul Televisión. This is the campaign used to launch the new brand.

It was voiced by Luis Albornoz, one of the best announcers in South America.

  10. Telefe's station ID from the mid-1990s and the intro of the Australian show "It's a Knockout!" (from Network Ten) that the station aired under the name Supermatch for many years. It was a terrific show!

  11. CBS Sports intro and excerpt of US Open tennis coverage on September 10, 1995,  the day of the big switch in Philadelphia. This excerpt is from KYW, one of the two stations involved in the switch.
