  1. SchfiftythreeRetroTV does it again with this WHO open from 1986, based off of their short lived "It's WHO We Are" logo and campaign from Peters: By the fall of that year, they went back to the previous logo (only for it to be replaced the following year) and switched to News Image:
  2. You've seen this KAMR open before, but have you seen it with John Wells VO?
  3. Some Billings news from 1985, starting with a rare open of KULR's Straight 8 NewsService, seems like many small town ABC affiliates used Cascom Select Effects in the 80s:
  4. Some WTMJ imaging from the last weeks of NewsChannel 4, the following month, Today's TMJ 4 would be born: KSAT 12 News tonight before they introduced the famous tabloid open for that newscast: An almost complete edition of CBS This Morning from December 23, 1996, taped off WJMN with WFRV newsbreaks:
  5. A WRGB open we haven't seen yet, using the second version of the Freedom theme:

  7. That was the last weeknight newscast before moving to their current studios on East Britton (the color problems on the studio cameras are likely a by-product of the move).
  8. WBOC using All We Are We Are For You: WGBH's old 10pm newscast from December 11, 1990, during this period it used TVbD graphics:
  9. Huh. In between Scott Chapin and Nick Michaels, WBBM had Vic Caroli do the opens:
  10. The last few minutes of a weekend WBKO newscast from December 1986, watch to the end for a close using a good cut of the WEVU/KWWL 80s theme:
  11. Here's a real rarity from ewjxn, the first 5 minutes of KCBD's Eyewitness 11ews (misspelling intended) from June 4, 1979. The station ID also mentions their then satellite station KSWS-TV 8 in Roswell (now KOB satellite KOBR), which aired their own newscast in place of KCBD's called the New Mexico Report.
  12. An unusal new WISH open, NewsCenter II and On The Scene News together! And the VO is Chuck "Wrath of the Buzzard" Riley!
  13. No open here, but still glad its here, a KOLR newscast from December 23, 1977.
  14. For a time, back when they were still an independent, KMPH aired a midday newscast at 11:30am in addition to their 10pm newscast. Here's a broadcast from February 6, 1985:
  15. Huh. Apparently during the first era of ViacomCBS, BET had a nightly newscast powered by CBS News:
  16. An ultra rare KYCU newscast from 1985, using a very well produced open for a small market station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvsNYDsdjW4
  17. At last, we've now seen all of the Media General 1997 opens!
  18. Our focus, the Mid-South! Here's some WPTY and WLMT newscasts from July of 2000, uploaded by the wife or daughter of then-anchor Mike Newton.
  19. Some bits of WDAY & KXJB newscasts (with opens) from 1982:
  20. WROC in its last months as an NBC affiliate, they had already began removing the peacock from its IDs:
  21. Witness the birth of the Sinclair news empire, it's the first WBFF newscast:
  22. It appears channel 2 in Buffalo was still using the NewsCenter Theme after the call letter change:
  23. A jackpot of Springfield, MO stuff: And I have a feeling theres lots more to come! If only the user had a capture device.....
  24. Judging from this promo, it was in May of 1987 when KOVR debuted Earwitness News: Don't think theres much or any of KGTV from this era: This KOA-TV newscast was also among Pannoni's uploads today: As well as KDKA's coverage of the Challenger explosion:
  25. This was right after they moved to their current studios on Dorr Street, you can see many commercials on its progress on YT. KCEN's morning news from Chistmas Eve 1992, uploaded by the anchor himself, Richard Tolleson: He's also uploaded lots of promos and bloopers from his time there:
