  1. Updating this thread to say that it seems like KDKA has started a 12:30pm newscast on sister station WPCW and streaming platform CBSN Pittsburgh. It must have started today. Now all three Pittsburgh stations have a full hour of news at Noon and at 4pm starting this afternoon.

For sure. You can Barely see it on the left hand side of this Picture I took from KDKA-TV.

It needs to be bigger. You can barely see it. I literally had to zoom in to this picture to actually see it.

Any assumptions that the local CBS affiliates will start to rename its morning newscasts too? You know, some CBS affiliates wants to keep "in line" with the network morning block, hence they name their local morning newscast as "This Morning" too (e.g CBS 2 News This Morning (WCBS), WBZ This Morning (WBZ), CBS 3 Eyewitness News This Morning (KYW))...

Not sure how I'll feel if for example, WCBS's morning news is renamed to "CBS 2 News Mornings"...

KDKA renamed their newscast to "Your Day Pittsburgh", but I'm not sure exactly when that happened.

Another Hearst station is adding a 4pm-cast.

WTAE will be launching the new 4pm show beginning Tuesday (7/6).

Other changes to the station's lineup:

    • Ellen is being moved from 4pm to 3pm.
    • Tamron is being moved from 3pm to 10am.
    • And Dr. Oz is being bumped from 10am to 1:07am after Nightline.

Not surprising. It was going to happen eventually. I actually thought it would happen after Ellen ended her run next year, but this works too.

Thought i would Start this. BUT, I wonder if this was a force out like we have seen with KDKA-TV, Meredith, TEGNA and others. I know Rob Owen of the Tribune Review plans to ask this also but I would bring it up here as well for people here to Discuss. I'm so happy for Peggy and I hope she takes some time off and continues to keep that Pittsburgh Charm she has.

According to the Trib, the decision was entirely hers...

One of the KDKA photographers I'm friends with was talking on Facebook about it and brought up the idea. I don't believe it will actually happen though.

Oh ok. I doubt it will either, but I was just curious.

The only one that actually looked like they did any action instead of running a crawl was KDKA-TV. I also heard they may air the West Coast CBSEN feed on sister station WPCW-TV at 11 PM.

    Where did you hear that?

I figured. I always liked how kd would traditionally say 'stay tuned for (name of show here)' at the end of the newscast. Many other stations don't bother, its a nice touch.

I'm shocked they didnt have the 6:56 adbreak last night.  That used to be a big ad revenue spot, especially during the PA lottery years and kenny ross.  I guess with current world events the ad sales aren't optimal.

I've always liked that as well. I think they only did that for the noon news though.

KDKA-TV seems to have eliminated the 6:57 intershow break between the news @ 6 and CBSEN @7.

I'll have to see if they still have the 12:27 break before young and the restless.

I seen that tonight. Don't know when that started, but I noticed it this evening.

The 12:27 break before Y&R is still there.

Be on the lookout for WRTV in Indianapolis.  I believe they may be getting ready to rebrand.  A vague ad was airing saying "The future is coming to WRTV soon" with just "WRTV" letters floating in the background, and they changed the title of their Facebook page to just "WRTV" this week.

Yeah I did notice that last part. Hopefully they don't get rid of the RTV6 branding. I like it.

Yeah I'm a little puzzled on why they're not letting KDKA, arguably their strongest station in the O&O portfolio right now, or even WJZ a shot at this.

They should get a chance. I don't know if they will, but they should.

The imagery is pretty good on the graphics, notwithstanding that I don't particularly like the gfx pkg in general.  But "C Clarity" is a sorry replacement for "The Tower".    And of course they just had to drop a perfectly solid brand name for something uninspiring.

Yeah C Clarity is a really serious downgrade from The Tower. And while the Eyewitness News brand isn't unique to the station like it is for a station such as WABC, they did use it for many years, and I think it just came as a surprise to see it go.

WTHR has officially been Tegna-fied. The look fits them GOOD. Here's the open for "13 News" at Noon.

Wow. Never thought I'd see the day when WTHR would drop the Eyewitness News brand. Hopefully it doesn't hurt the station too bad in the long run, but there's a good chance it will. We shall see...

  14. Other than the anchors distancing themselves on air like other stations have, there aren't changes in terms of expanded newscasts in Pittsburgh yet. Though I expect that to change.

They JUST evacuated that building.  Wouldn’t be shocked if CBSN output comes from DC for a bit as well once they get up and running—problem is a lot of the staff are NYC based.

Maybe this is the reason why CBS Sports HQ is currently being simulcast on CBS Sports Network.
