Here is more from this. This is completely redone with the Steelers Communications team taken over and KDKA-TV isn't shown at all in this package.

Hearst is almost debt free for not going on a huge M&A frenzy as the rest of the groups. This means free cash flow. While other groups are in debt in the BILLIONS, Hearst sits back with only MILLIONS in debt and are able to do so much more being a private company.
This is why Hearst is my favorite owner of all the TV News Companies. I'm also glad to have a local Hearst station in my area as well (WTAE).

WDRB in 2022 from Louisville Kentucky. One of the last small owners in the Television industry. Their other biggest property is the Pittsburgh Post Gazette newspaper.

I seriously don’t understand what message this is supposedly sending to the people at their cable channel. Can’t the network and MSNBC coexist? Also, wouldn’t this mean they were “sending a message” when they expanded Today years ago?
Also, the show will air live at 1. Unless WNBC has a crystal ball for one hour in the future, they’re going to have to shuffle their schedule a bit
The message NBC is sending with this move is that MSNBC is now a Political Network (Like FOX News Channel) and not a news network anymore. That is the only reason I can see for NBC doing this (show actual news on the NBC Broadcast network/NBC News Now and show Political coverage on MSNBC only). That actually makes sense if NBC were to do that. It can coexist if it is done this way.
Also, to be fair, the FOX broadcast network special reports (along with LiveNow) are much more down the middle then the Fox News Channel and they coexist. Maybe NBC is seeing that too and is doing the same thing.

You have to assume there will be a number of affiliates not happy right now to learn their schedule is incompatible thanks to NBC giving an hour over to news, and since Kelly Clarkson is a lead-out from DOOL in some markets, her flow is also screwed up. There are still NBC affiliates that have never recovered from the Santa Barbara hour going back to them and having to fill it with a C-level talk show (or now Dateline), which is why NBC couldn't give up the Another World/Passions hour when they expanded Today the second time. And now the affiliate base has to take the brunt of the 'what is a Peacock', 'can't you just air it anyways just hook up your TV to Peacock and broadcast it' and 'I will never watch your station again' calls.
If this was announced a year out maybe it would work out well. Now it just seems like a panic 'follow the leader' move because ABC lucked into a good thing with GMA3WYNTK and NBC itself has such a deep hard news vacuum between 7:40 a.m.-6:30 p.m. outside breaking news days. And oh God this is inevitably gonna have a 'deal of the day' segment like GMA3WYNTK and The Talk isn't it?
And...(LeBron timeout pain GIF)...MSNBC. You already have a news channel. You're basically telling Chris Jansing you don't care about her 1 p.m. show. ABC at least gave plenty of notice All My Children was ending and had the 'we don't have a news channel' excuse to cover the move.
Well said. I'm guessing that Comcast wants to make MSNBC a full political channel (similar to Fox but in the other direction) and use this as a "Real News" alternative. If they were that concerned about Chris Jansing, she would be part of this "NBC News Daily". I also believe that many affiliates could also lose Kelly Clarkson to other stations as well (WPXI lost Kelly to WTAE for example). I wish they would have just given this spot back to the affiliates.

I'm surprised they got rid of Days for more news, I guess there has been too many break ins with Special Reports (and to compete with GMA3) that NBC just said ok, we will do this. I also wonder if this means we will see more local newscasts on some affiliates as well at 3 PM ET.

Because the NOW brand wasn’t meant to replace existing newscasts.
As if those black and gold graphics weren’t ugly enough on their own. Paired with that green CW logo
The CW logo need to be gold along with the rest of the package (that is my only complaint). KDKA-TV'S balck and gold look has grown on me and I still hope when the new CBS O&O package launches, that they keep it.

Didn't CBS do a "News Central" at its LA duop some time back?
Yes. In 2009, it was a massive failure.

What’s bad is in NY it replaced an actual newscast even if it was a repurposed version of WCBS 6 pm. In markets with actual newscast competition or a co-owned newscast I can’t see this lasting.
There is no way this would last on CW/My stations owned by CBS with CBS O&Os with actual news departments. Do they really want to go the same route that Sinclair did with News Central. I don't want to see another WPGH situation again.

Nexstar can't take it either. They hit their cap. Orlando is too big. Either TEGNA or Scripps.
Also, no. It's not leaving Florida.
Nexstar could buy them as Mission Broadcasting stations. Scripps is also against the cap. My point was that if TEGNA became Standard, Cox merged with Standard, and then Hearst merged with Cox. Orlando (and many other places) will have new owners with an O&O or someone like Allen or someone else expanding their reach to fill in the gaps.

Hearst's graphics hub can be moved to another station if needed. I'm sure WBAL-TV would want it.

While that is a good idea, and I'm all for it, it wouldn't be a clean deal should that ever happen, and I highly doubt it would.
If Hearst and Cox merge, The biggest Conflicts would be Pittsburgh (WTAE over WPXI) , Boston (WCVB over WFXT [Fox could get this station back]), and Orlando (WFTV/WRDQ over WESH/WKCF)
WPXI screams Nexstar.
WFXT goes back to FOX
WESH/WKCF also goes to Nexstar.

Hearst or NBC can take WCNC and WXIA/WATL.
Hearst could take all of the conflicts if they wanted too.
Atlanta: Standard keeps WSB 2 (ABC), and Hearst takes WXIA 11 (NBC)
WATL 36 (MNT) could go to either.
Charlotte: Standard keeps WSOC 9 (ABC) & WAXN 64 (Ind.), Hearst takes WCNC 36 (NBC).
Jacksonville: Hearst gets WTLV 12 (NBC) & WJXX 25 as an Independent (ABC goes to Graham's WJXT 4) Standard keeps WFOX 30 (Fox) & WJAX 47 (CBS).
Seattle: Hearst takes KIRO 7 (CBS), Standard gets KING 5 (NBC) & KONG 16 (Ind.).
Spokane won't be a problem due to COX selling KAYU -TV to Imagicomm Communications.
Memphis: Standard keeps WHBQ 13 (Fox), Hearst gets WATN 24 (ABC)
WLMT 30 (CW) could go to either.
Hearst doesn't like FOX so that is why I avoided giving them any FOX stations.
