WDIV Announces Plans to open Coffee Shop, TV Studio
appleachian replied to ns8401's topic in General TV
WRAL has a store in the Raleigh-Durham airport. It’s just a market with supplies for travelers. I assume its real purpose is just like any other form of advertising. It exposes newcomers and visitors to the WRAL brand. https://www.rdu.com/wral-travel-store/ -
The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread

WITN changed their slogan from "Most Watched, Most Trusted" to "First Alert" - what a terrible slogan for the station as a whole. Still using the same blue graphics package. -
I heard KTLA's chopper reporter mention a few times they were flying at 8000+ feet. I suspect they are a ways out and also up above all the fire activity.
-
WRAL is currently flying N6TY, which was formerly assigned to KMOV. WRAL's own N553HD which has always been registered to Capitol Broadcasting is now registered to Helicopters, Inc. and hasn't flown since February. Word is that it is undergoing rehabbing. But either way, it does look like WRAL has sold their chopper and outsourced the service.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
appleachian replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Going to start calling duopolies "Soup Olives" now. That's an amazing autocorrect. WRDC is the ATSC3.0 lighthouse for Raleigh. Sinclair only has one ATSC1.0 station, WLFL. -
Regarding WBOC being dropped: Breezeline says it’s about not wanting to pay two affiliates. https://policyband.com/blog/spokesman--breezeline-dropped-cbs-affiliate-wboc-to-manage-costs Significantly Viewed does still exist but this is the reason most providers are dropping duplicate affiliates.

Some of these are going to have a hell of a transition. Like KOSA. -

I just noticed that WITN has updated their bug and website to remove the peacock. Still using the same old turquoise/blue/whatever graphics package. -
Job hopping for more money. Just like anyone else. Historically they get 2 year contracts and keep moving up in market rank for career growth.

FCC has no jurisdiction over what airs on cable channels.
-
The Disney channels are back on Dish. That was a very short lived dispute by Dish standards.
-
Only the eight O&O markets are affected as far as ABC.
-
I've been a Dish subscriber for many years but I think I'm about done. IMO Dish is playing with fire here and getting a lot of customers that otherwise may have just stayed customers out of momentum to explore streaming services.

The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread

The Gray looks are so bad that WVUE looks good in comparison. I watched them again recently when tornados came through NOLA. Those ancient Raycom graphics still look better than WBTV does after having been “Gray-ified.” -
ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
appleachian replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
I’m watching the Tulane/Oklahoma game and the ABC bug is still the old logo. Promos for shows in the bottom right uses the new logo. The bug on the left is the old embossed logo. -
FTVLive reports that Christin Severance and Dan Haggerty are leaving KGW for WRAL. Dan will be an anchor. Wonder if David Crabtree is retiring (for real this time?) and Dan will be his replacement. Christin will join WRAL Investigates and the documentary unit.

KTLA Morning News in December 2004:
-
https://wcti12.com/news/local/meet-the-new-newschannel-12-evening-news-anchor Frank Fraboni has left WLOS/Asheville to become the new evening anchor at WCTI/New Bern-Greenville. Both stations are owned by Sinclair.

WRAL has had one for years at the transmitter site.
-
That was awesome. Nexstar has run such crap over the years that I’m not sure ‘ol Perry knew what to do with actual personalities. Please oh please don’t screw up WGN!!
