  1. They used to, but not anymore. WTMJ runs "Pickler and Ben" in that slot (according to TitanTV). They dropped the 3p newscast in 2015; this decision was in the works before Scripps bought WTMJ and the Journal stations.....
  2. Interesting about KLAX; seems Pollack/Belz has owned them for the longest time..... Just checked Lost Coast's website; they have no TV stations in their portfolio, so KLAX would be their first one. KLAX also has a Me-TV subchannel, too...
  3. Don’t forget there’s a similar situation in Baton Rouge and in San Antonio. In BR, WBRZ airs “The Chew” on a day delay at 11am, followed by their hour-long noon newscast. My thinking is WBRZ can move their noon news to 11am to accommodate the move, or (if ABC will let them), keep the noon newscast, move Wendy Williams from 2p to 11a, and air the ABC afternoon lineup (the GMA expanded hour and General Hospital) at 1p & 2p, respectively. In San Antonio, the lineup is as follows on KSAT: news at 9a, Kelly & Ryan at 10, the View at 11, news at noon, KSAT’s highly rated “SA Live” at 1p, and The Chew & General Hospital at 2p & 3p, respectively. KSAT’s programming person is going to have major headaches trying to figure out what programming to put at what time for fall, for the benefit of both viewers in San Antonio and ABC....
  4. Here in Louisiana: Pat Shingleton (chief weather forecaster) & his son Michael (6 & 10 pm news anchor) at WBRZ in Baton Rouge Jillian Corder (4p anchor & 6p co-anchor) and her husband Brady Renard (sports director) at KPLC in Lake Charles. Incidentally, both Jillian & Brady worked in the Monroe, LA market, but at separate stations (KNOE & KTVE/KARD, respectively). Then, there are the Mackel siblings at WDSU in New Orleans: Fletcher (sports anchor), Travers (investigative reporter), and Megan (chief photographer). Also, Fletcher is getting married this month to WVUE reporter/anchor Meg Gatto.
  5. You have a good point. Shows like “Texas Justice” & “Good Day Live” (both of which are no longer on the air) started this way, and “A Current Affair” began as a local show in New York in ‘86, not long after the establishment of Fox, & eventually went to the other Fox O & O’s (IIRC, in L.A., Chicago, Houston, & Washington, at the time), before its successful national syndication run. Let’s also not forget Montel Williams’s show also had a similar test run when it started on a handful of stations (two of which, oddly enough, are now Fox O & O’s).
  6. Oops!! Forget my last post; didn't see the "top 100" part! Sorry!
  7. I found one: KLAX-TV in Alexandria, LA. 686 followers! https://twitter.com/KLAXTV
  8. Just checked NMSA (News Music website). WWL & WUPL are now on the list of stations that have “C Clarity” (TEGNA’s new news music of choice). Hopefully somebody can provide a link to a clip with that music soon....
  9. Starting Monday (March 5), KADN in Lafayette will have a midday newscast on its NBC subchannel (15.2). It will go head to head with KLFY's noon newscast, formerly known as "Meet Your Neighbor" (even though there is an interview segment by that title in the noon news itself)...
  10. As of this past Monday (Feb. 5), KARK in Little Rock, AR, has started an hour-long 4p newscast. This newscast replaced an hour of "Judge Judy." And BTW, it turns out KARK was running TWO hours of "Judge Judy" from 3 to 5p. Now one hour of the show every day is fine with me, but not two!! I wonder what gave them the idea to run two hours of the show on weekdays!! Weird!!
  11. As I figured, KLFY is using a Stephen Arnold package (Canvas). This decision by KLFY (or corporate, if not at the station level) somehow makes sense, since many former Media General stations (WJTV, WJHL, WNCN, and WSAV) are using it now, and other former MG stations (WCMH, WFLA) have used it in the past....
  12. Sorry to bump this thread, but a change at KLFY in Lafayette, LA. After almost four decades, their "hurricane"-style logo is history. Their new logo debuted this morning.... KLFY also debuted new graphics, anchor IDs, and a new theme as well. I believe the new theme is a Stephen Arnold composed piece (as Nexstar likes to use Stephen Arnold music for their stations). I'm also guessing that despite the new graphics, theme, and formatting as per Nexstar's style, the news on KLFY will still be done in the manner that viewers are accustomed to.... Here is a cleaner image of the logo..... Very scary, I know......
  13. Something else to mention: KLFY had a similar goof-up happen on their weekend newscast one night a few years ago when the open for "Meet Your Neighbor" (KLFY's noon show) ran instead of their usual news open. This was just before Media General took over KLFY and the rest of the former Young Broadcasting stations, BTW (in 2013).
  14. Hey, guys. Haven't posted in a while! Anyway, here's another gem from WNWO in Toledo. All I can say is, this is what happens when you let people in one market (South Bend) produce the news segments for a station in another market (happens at the very beginning of clip, with the mention of Fox 6 in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA).... Again, this is the late news on the NBC affiliate in Toledo, OH. Thoughts????
  15. Here is a gem from WNWO in Toledo (courtesy of FTVLive). This is what happens when you let another station (WSBT in South Bend) produce the news segs while the weather segments are in Toledo.... http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/6/13/do-you-not-listen As if this wasn't bad enough, I have two other gems for you which are equally as bad..... http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/5/19/pay-attention http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/5/4/this-is-what-happens-when-you-farm-out-your-news
  16. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/6/2/get-yourself-de-fatted This story concerns WLOX (Biloxi) chief meteorologist Carrie Duncan. The story, and everything around it, speaks for itself!
  17. The posted opening from KATC is used for Good Morning Acadiana only; for their other newscasts, they use cuts from Gari Media's "The One and Only" package (which they've used since 1998)....
  18. From what I read on NOLA.com, according to the February book, the WUPL broadcast got a 2.2 rating, which is not too bad for the station itself unless there are syndicated shows on the channel that rank higher than that... So it's evident that you can blame Tegna fully for the bad morning show shuffle at WWL/WUPL!!
  19. Not sure if any of the former Media General station have gotten this upgrade, or already have a news ticker of some kind....
  20. KLFY has now added a news ticker, along with sponsor bug & new time/temp/logo bug (this screenshot is from their 5p newscast)....
  21. HOW would it look cheap, I mean?
  22. Thanks for the info. I never even realized that at all....
  23. What's the matter, you don't like KLFY's "hurricane style" logo? It's been in use since the mid-70s (at least)! It'll be sad if Nexstar changes the logo, but to be fair, there have been times before that in which KLFY has had "acclaimed" logos! Case in point (this is from a blooper tape)....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGGxJAALlKk
  24. KLFY also has a chopper (Sky 10); it has been in use since at least the mid-80s! The only times it's ever used nowadays are for either post-hurricane coverage or for events like a natural gas well blowout in 2007 which caused Interstate 10 between Baton Rouge and Lafayette to be closed for a week and a half. Once "Sky 10" goes, it'll be the end of a long run.
  25. This story involves the channel TBD...http://toofab.com/2017/03/24/youtube-series-raises-questions-over-hollywood-ripping-off-digital-creators-exclusive/ It's worth a read; apparently the studio behind the web series "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries," "Emma Approved," and "Frankenstein, M.D.," struck a deal with TBD to air the programs on the subchannel. The weird parts are: 1. The Youtube videos of said shows were recut to 30 minutes to fit commercial breaks in 2. No one bothered to tell the actors, writers, producers or crews from each show 3. The shows started airing February, but it wasn't until March that an actor from one of the three shows found out Another actor from one of the series contacted SAG-AFTRA to ask about residuals; THIS part is worth a read! Who do you think is at fault here?? To me, this is like Fox re-airing the 2003 smash TV hit "Joe Millionaire" late on Saturday nights without telling the producers, Evan Marriott, or any of the people involved with the show!!
