Seems like Robert Johnson of sister station WTVD is going to be living out his dreams of being a meteorologist for Action news. I've watched him. and he's a solid pick. They even did a story about him back in 2018.
Here's his YouTube channel with his work, only up to 2019 though.

I noticed Sade has been missing for several weeks and Sandra has been filling for her at 5pm and 11pm(not Fridays). She was out during the same time last year as well. Do you think she's having new health issues or issue's related to her concussion years ago? Whatever it is, I hope she's well and will be back soon,

Sorry for the vent. I've tried warming up to Greg Dutra but, the way he presents himself and the weather rubs me the wrong way. The beard bothers me for one, and he sounds like a college frat boy and sounds fake and phony. I honestly don't think he is a good meteorologist and with how much time he has off and filling in on GMA, he really doesn't contribute to the team that much.

Tom Llamas could be an option.
He used to fill a lot, but I have a feeling that some of the co-hosts didn't like him filling in, especially since he went from NBC to ABC and back to NBC and becoming second in command. He seems to be less likeable than when he was at ABC.

It looks ok, I just hope they don't keep doing the full weather segments in front of that monitor, I prefer the full segments at the green screen or at least zoom in closer and have the meteorologists stand closer as the graphics don't go across the monitors. Overall, I think this is a downgrade from their previous set and it was unneeded for them.

WBBM has improve under Jennifer Lyons leadership. Their main anchor team is solid and better than ABC7's 10pm team. Their reporting bench is solid and have a better investigating team than ABC7. The weather team is good, buts needs more people added with the uncertainty of Ed Curran. All they need to do is add a couple Meteorologists and fix the morning news. WFLD still struggles, but better than it was 5-10 plus years ago.

I wonder if the main anchor teams will anchor Sunday night for the preview of the DNC.

Weekend weather people used to do the entire weekend back to as late as the 90s. There are plenty of fill-in options for them with 5 full-time meteoroligists. No need for a part-timer.
Disagree on the demotion part. He is still on weekday afternoons/evenings. Additionally, the 10 PM is on another channel. You say you’re adding another show to Cecily, but she’s got the least amount of airtime currently:
Cecily: 1.5 daily, 7.5 weekly
Adam: 2.5 daily, 12.5 weekly
Karen: 4.0 daily, 20.0 weekly
Brittany: 3.5 daily, 7.0 weekly (that does not include the average 3 noon shows she does which would make it 10.0 hours weekly)
Chris: 4.0/4.5 daily, 8.5 weekly (that does not include the average 2 noon shows he does which would make it 10.5 hours weekly)
Still makes more sense to have the weekend people split the noon shift if they don’t wanna add Adam there, as opposed to adding a sixth person.
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.
I agree with all of this and plus Adam will still be Cecily's main backup even if he takes the noon newscast. Also when he is not filling in for Cecily, he can send his young kids to school and be home before they go to sleep. Even if Adam doesn't take the noon and give up the 10pm, the weather team schedule still makes more sense than the WABC weather team schedule.
-
Do you guys think they're going to hire a new meteorologist now that Chris Sowers is gone? I think Payton should take weekend mornings and move Adam Joseph off the 10pm(Cecily is already there for the 11pm) and to the Noon which would make sense and maybe hire a freelancer instead of another full-time meteorologist.

Nothing official from what I've seen, but Evrod Cassimy has been anchoring weekday mornings with Michelle for the past few weeks, including this week and it seems JC Navarrete has been demoted to general assignment reporter for the afternoon newscasts. Good for Evrod, he is a strong anchor and a needed boost for the morning news.

David Yeomans is great addition to the weather team and the station. I really like his enthusiasm about the weather and how professional he is, just like the rest of the weather team. Speaking of, has Ed Curran been on lately? Because he usually fills in at 11am, but it's been Mary Kay Kleist(who worked well with David the last 2 nights). It seems like Ed is having health issues again and they really need 2 more meteorologists to relieve the rest of the team, especially Mary Kay whose supposed to be part time. But feels like she's double time.

The problem with NBC5's weather team is the weird scheduling. The weekend morning meteorologists since Kalee Dionne(which have been Alicia, Iisha, and Kevin) left have only contributed to the weekday morning newscasts where the severe weather coverage is unlikely in the morning. Kevin is filling more now in the evenings, but helps Alicia out when everybody else is there. Iisha has been there for almost 3 years and Kevin just over a year. I will cut them some slack since it's their first severe weather coverage at NBC5 and didn't have the veterans to help. Kevin needs to contribute in the afternoons and evenings instead of mornings. If they keep this weird schedule of weekend/weekday morning contributing meteorologist, then they won't be able to retain meteorologist. Look at Cheryl Scott with Byron Miranda and Kalee Dionne with Paul Deanno for example. Byron and Paul each left for different cities in 3 years after bypassing Cheryl and Kalee.

No one is bigger fan of Good Morning America as a television institution than I am. I’ve watched avidly since the early days of Charlie, Diane, Robin and Tony. My family as a whole has watched it almost as a morning ritual since the 80s.
It’s not just an opinion. The show in its current iteration is garbage. I wouldn’t point to ratings given the show has bled nearly 3 million viewers over the last several years and shows no signs of slowing.
The only reason why GMA beats the other two is the local news lead ins are great, not for the content or personalities.

I have watched since Joan Lunden and Charlie Gibson were co-anchors, survived the Lisa McRee and Kevin Newman experiment, and believe the current show is bad. I watch the first 10 minutes, especially if George is leading with big political news, then tune out.
The show lost so much of the energy and appeal it once had. I still do not understand the concept of Michael Strahan as a news anchor. Robin Roberts seems to have unlimited days off. George should be given expanded time for hard news and political coverage.
CBS Mornings has better news judgement.
TODAY has better energy.
It feels like I'm watching rich people at a party because that's what it is. The only people worth watching are Ginger, George, and Michael. I know unpopular, but Michael brings a certain energy to the show that makes him an asset. Robin is off so much that she doesn't make an impact, at least for me. Lara should be canned and replaced by Sam who can fill the lifestyle role and fill in for Ginger.

Is it just me or is GMA just a mediocre show now at best? Compared to Today and CBS Mornings, it's quality has gone down, including the weekend shows.

I noticed Brant is off this week, but Iisha Scott is doing her normal 11am and 4pm. Pete filled in Monday and Tuesday for Brant, while Kevin Jeanes did last night and is doing today and tomorrow. Do you think Iisha is going to replace Brant or is Kevin going to be the next chief meteorologist?

I'm also a Giangreco stan. I used to have a lot of respect for Cheryl for many years. But that ordeal, plus the fact that she's truly an ignorant person in public (I witnessed firsthand), made me lose immediate respect for her. Although, her station is number one in ratings. Her approval, not so much. But I'm not going to push my point out there.
I agree with your point. Cheryl Burton's ego became huge after that ordeal and acts like she is the main attraction at the station, which she's not. That might be a reason Alan retired a year and half after that ordeal, he probably got sick and tired of her. I could also see Ron Magers wasn't her biggest fan either like the clip below.

He's pretty sad, IMO. You are too, if you are commenting on her looks.
I'm not saying she's an ugly person. I'm saying some of the outfits she wears are questionable. She is a pretty woman and does fine on the lighter newscasts like the 6:30pm and seems more genuine on those newscasts than the 5pm and 10pm where there's more pressure.
Now this morning, Diane Pathieu was off, so Stephanie Wade filled in. They usually have Jeremy Scott or someone else from the Total Traffic Network fill in. Do you think this was a last second fill in or are they going to rotate reporters to fill in for Diane?
-
Mark Giangreco is back to shading Cheryl Burton on twitter, even though I agree with the shade. Burton turns me off with the fake laugh, over the top jokes and ugly outfits. Lets also not forget about her ego which is huge. I just wish they would replace her with Karen Jordan, who deserves the promotion.

They really need to hire 2 more meteorologists as Mary Kay Kleist has been working double time, unlike the part time she wanted(Robb Ellis leaving quietly didn't help). Now she gets a break with Laura and Ed back. Ed seems like he's heading towards retirement or has more health issues now.

So Adam Joseph posted pictures of him taking his family to pride on his Facebook and Twitter pages and the comments are mostly good and nice(which I agree). But the not so nice comments are calling him a "groomer" and a "bad parent." I'm glad he is sticking up for himself, his family and LGBTQ community as he has an awesome family by his side and I enjoy his family posts. He has gotten a little political though but, I don't care as I enjoy him calling out the homophobes and the hypocrites. I can see why he is extremely popular in Philly and would be a huge loss if he did leave.

The hour-long 7pm show has apparently been dumped in favor of a 30-minute show at 6:30. It SEEMS like the Elgas-Burton-[rotating weather] team will continue in the streaming slot, but nothing has been declared. Ravi and Cheryl are off, so Rob anchored at 6 and stayed put, while Karen and Cheryl S. relieved Judy and Larry between shows. This means WLS joins WABC as one of the few O&O's to not air any streaming newscast between 7pm and the late news.
I bet Cheryl Scott and Larry Mowry are happy with this move. But, what they should have done is a 9pm hour-long digital newscast with more news and less gossip to compete with WGN and Fox 32. Also will the 7am stay the way it is or will it get cut to a half hour also? I feel the 7am should stay the way it is since it has more completion and the style is more appropriate in the morning.

With most of the weather team off this week. Phil Schwarz returned to fill in at 5pm and will do the 7pm and the 10pm. It's nice to see Phil return to fill in. While Mark McGinnis has been filling in for Tracy since Monday. Jaisol Martinez did last night by herself and will probably fill in for Tracy Thursday and Friday.

In that initial social media post, Mark had said he'd be doing evenings for several weeks. In addition to an obvious tryout, I'm guessing it aligns with some of Karen's vacation time (she was off Saturday, for example). As for Christian, again, they might as well give someone consistent hours, instead of a downright silly rotation of characters, like the interim period between Ben Bradley and Rivera.
I'd bet that this is the eventual permanent line-up, though I still would not rule out an outside hire for either slot. Mark to nights does almost seem like a lock, at this point.
Mark went back to weekend mornings this past weekend with Karen Jordan anchoring in the evenings. If he doesn't get the weekend evening job, I can see him bolting later this year as when Ravi is off, Mark only does the 5pm and Rob takes the rest of the newscasts.
Also, as of this morning, Val is officially the third full time anchor of the 6am hour with Tanja and Terrell. She will likely be the main fill-in for Tanja and Terrell on the other shows as well, which also another reason Mark Rivera might bolt.

It seems like Chuck Goudie has left ABC7 as his bio has been scrubbed. However, Jessica D'Onofrio, who left in august is still has her bio on there.
