This looks nice.. They needed a huge upgrade after Gray dumped them!

Amen to that whenever I go up to Wichita to see family I always watched KAKE and absolutely hated the previous set I’m also glad that the weatherplex is semi back with two weather pods and the big monitors.

  3. Another one leaving KTUL after only being at KTUL since the end of September Chief Meteorologist Chris Nunley is leaving for Salt Lake City and joining Scripps FOX13. News Channel 8 has had the opening for ktul since beginning of January and has had applicants but have not made an announcement or anything as of yet.

  4. I know this person wasn’t an on air talent but former KJRH Vice President and General Manager Amy Calvert has been hired by Sinclair as Vice President and GM of KOKH-TV in OKC hopefully she can help make the newscasts better for both KTUL and KOKH.

Are there any Gray stations that do not have the "First Alert" branding at all, in markets where none of their competitors had it first? (So throw out, say, Kansas City).

KXII in Sherman. KTEN used to use First Alert but dropped to be known as KTEN Weather. KXII uses Weather Authority.

KTVN is one of those DMA #100+ stations that just refuses to behave like one. Great look for them.

Sounds like they got a new set, too?

Yes they did I posted it on the set page.

So, what about weekend newscasts? KOKH only produces a 9:00 newscast on weekends (although the Saturday edition is usually delayed, often running past 10:00, due to Fox Sports event telecasts). Most TV listings still have KTUL airing early evening and 10:00 p.m. newscasts on weekends.

He said that it would be OKC handling the weekends (Colton and Michelle will handle weather and sports for OKC and Tulsa while John Hayes moves to weekdays as a reporter only). Weekdays Chris, Brenna and TJ will handle the 6 and 10pm and TJ will also handle sports for OKC. Joie stayed on the morning show to handle weather and reporter McKenzie Richmond also stayed on the morning show.

The only newscasts KTUL will have by themselves will be 6pm and 10pm Monday through Friday. All other newscasts will be KOKH. 5pm will be Hyper-local with Brenna anchoring a bit of news at the start of the broadcast then to OKC for news then weather from Tulsa. That’s coming from the chief photographer at KTUL I was talking with him last week at my radio remote and he was there getting video.

If it's open for use, that doesn't necessarily mean broadcasts will start originating from there right away. Until an official date is announced by KMOV, take everything with a grain of salt.

They start broadcasting tonight (Sunday) at 10pm from the new building and studio.

  10. I have an update on the lay offs at KTUL. Joie Bettenhausen told me that they kept a handful of the MMJ’s, 4 production staff, a couple of producers, the entire meteorological staff (her, Colton Williams and Chief Chris Nunley), anchor Brenna Rose, both sports director TJ Eckert and weekend sports anchor and reporter Michelle Montaine and Sales. They only had 15 on air talent we know that KTUL main anchor of 27 years Mark Bradshaw is one of the laid off workers, along with Good Morning Oklahoma anchor Sunny Leigh and Live Desk anchor Tyler Butler and they (at least Sunny and Tyler will not sure about Mark) will all continue to work until the change December 11th.
