  1. Ariane Aramburo (co-host of WAVY's The Hampton Roads Show) announced yesterday that she was leaving for Alaska; and that today is (according to VARTV) her last day. (Ariane makes passing comment on her exit)
  2. Something I was not expecting to see. From stevations' channel; here's a 1993 WTKR intro for coverage of a Norfolk Tides minor league baseball game when Harbor Park opened
  3. From SuperDanDoodle's channel; a couple of 1997 WTKR clips: 1997 WTKR Blooper compilation: 1997 WTKR Talk It Out Promo:
  4. From a series of uploads from November 1989; here's a WTKR News 3 tease with then-weekend weatherman Brian Hill
  5. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as the local media historian, then; but it's surprising (and rather concerning thinking about it) that there would be that much change to a special based on one Wikipedia edit. On a side note, it's really a shame WAVY never kept that footage up on their site (or uploaded it to YouTube).
  6. From bpar73's channel, here are a couple of local sports reports First is one from WAVY featuring a young, slimmer Bruce Rader (listed as 1981; but the date is probably no later than January 8, 1982 due to Bruce making his conference championship predictions* {WAVY switched to "Gold 10" logo/Daily News branding in 1982 last I checked}): *For what it's worth, Bruce whiffed on picking San Diego over Cincinnati (and the weather ); and makes no prediction on the NFC Championship. Also, there's a WVEC sportscast with a young Scott Cash from 1989 (originally listed as 1987; but I mentioned based partly on the WVEC news intro from 1988 graphics/set being much different; as well as Barbara Ciara having returned to that station, this might be 1989 due to there also being baseball scores included in the segment):
  7. WAVY/WVBT traffic reporter Cheryl Tan is leaving for focus on her own media company. (TVNewser job opening post): http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser-jobs/jobview.asp?joid=164787&c=jfbtvs
  8. Glad to see some of this as well. Also noticed on his 1977-78 WBZ promo compilation, it sounds like Danny Dark (who was a CBS staff announcer and wouldn't be associated with NBC until the 1981-82 season) can be heard in some of the spots
  9. Couple more eyeontv uploads WJZ Eyewitness News Promos from 1977 (includes shot of a young Oprah when she hosted People are Talking): WTOP Eyewitness News Promos from 1977 (We Give It All We Got):
  10. A couple of fresh uploads from the eyeontv channel 1975 WBBM Sales Presentation: 1976 WPLG Anchor Promos (from shortly after Glenn Rinker arrived from WRC):
  11. On previous channels, I've uploaded a Maria Shriver interview of then-future President George W. Bush from NBC's August 20, 1992 coverage of the Republican National Convention. Here, I've uploaded all the footage I have of NBC's RNC coverage (picks up when Tom Brokaw and John Chancellor had just finished commenting on Vice President Dan Quayle's speech and ends when Tom throws a last-minute question to Andrea Mitchell {interviewing Michigan Gov. John Engler} about the proposed NAFTA treaty)
  12. First upload from my current channel in this section. Late 2009 (don't remember the date) WAVY News 10 Bumper (where somebody forgot to change the generic "Name or Description" graphic on the tease of a story involving former wrestler "Wise Guy" Jimmy Cicero)
  13. Former NBC news correspondent/Sunday Today host/Meet the Press moderator Garrick Utley died at 74 http://www.today.com/video/today/54465479#54465479
  14. Only thing I have to go on right now is hearing a promo during WGNT's airing of Judge Judy; but it appears WTKR is bringing Les Smith back to anchor NewsChannel 3 at 5:00 alongside Barbara Ciara (the ad making a reference to their time together at WAVY).
  15. Just found this from Mike Barnett's channel. This came from April 26, 1986 in which the (soon-to-be-completely-demolished) HHH Metrodome roof tore during a Minnesota Twins-California Angels game. Coverage from WCCO; WUSA (now KARE) and KSTP; with some fast-forwarding from a brief snippet of an ESPN SportsCenter (Chris Berman and I think Gayle Gardner)
  16. Just reuploaded this from just before a 1987 Mickey's Christmas Carol broadcast. 12/4/1987 WAVY Daily News Tease (Bruce Rader promotes that year's Army-Navy Game)
  17. From the Fuzzy Memories site (full of various clips primarily from the Chicago area); here are some clips from the local coverage of the 1975 funeral of...Chicago mobster Sam Giancana (all of them in black and white) WBBM: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/#videoclip-4517 WMAQ: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/#videoclip-4516 WLS: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/#videoclip-4515
  18. Looks like this thing may prove to be bigger than just a simple tax issue for Bickford. http://hamptonroads.com/2014/01/former-wtkr-anchor-caught-international-fraud#
  19. Just found an interesting spot from Sportbuff99TV1's channel. Apparently, a CNN Sports Tonight broadcast had a piece in which was covering the NFL not allowing the Cincinnati Bengals' Bengal tiger mascots Benzoo (the name of both tigers) to accompany the team to Miami for Super Bowl XXIII. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXisAEx8llo
  20. Former WWBT news director Doug Hill died at the age of 91 http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/former-wwbt-news-director-dies_b111479
  21. First glimpse of WNBC's new look, and I'm really liking it as well.
  22. 1984 WTKR Editorial (from stevations; again the picture leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately)
  23. Just stumbled across a new channel with a lot of footage of local New York coverage of the first WTC attack as well as some of CNN's Gulf War coverage http://www.youtube.com/user/HDiNDEMAND
  24. Don't recall seeing this mentioned before, but here's GaryW48's upload of the ABC News Gulf War update during halftime of Super Bowl XXV
