Ahh gotcha it funny because when that 2019 blackout happened, WNBC used then WNJUs building to do the 11pm show that night. If there a blackout next time both stations in the word of Gen Z would be cooked. I’m sure in that NJ bureau the studio is gonna be taken out so no broadcast capabilities I hope they planned this well for screwed up scenarios. I have more scenarios in the tube but I digress.

Should that happen again, they could use WCAU/WWSI in Philadelphia as backup if all else fails or keep cameras in the NJ Bureau just in case.

  2. David Diaz, longtime NYC reporter and professor, passed away at the age of 82. He worked at WNBC-TV and WCBS-TV.

I heard rumors that WNJU move to New York City might be delayed till February

NBC is in the process of building a new newsroom that covers both stations, similar to their duopoly in DC (WRC& WZDC), which is why WNJU hasn't moved out yet.

Not sure where to put this, but...

FNC is launching a daily Spanish-language newscast on Fox Deportes (Fox's only Spanish-language media outlet in America) and is launching a Spanish-language version of its website.

This is actually their second attempt at a Spanish newscast. When they launched a Spanish-language network Mundo Fox, they had a newscast from Los Angeles, launched in 2012. The network was co-owned by Colombia's RCN Television. The newscasts was canceled when Fox divested itself from the network in 2015.

Not suggesting sexism is at play here, but rather the optics don't look good when you demote your lead female anchor for two male anchors without giving another female anchor an opportunity to tryout. It would be a different story if they went with a solo anchor. I, and I assume others, see value in having both a male/female perspective when it comes to certain duos. Just because Couric and O'Donnell didn't work shouldn't mean you give up.

CBS also had Connie Chung as the first Asian-American to co-anchor the Evening News and she didn't stick around too long either. Let's see what this looks like when it airs.

  7. An example from New York, was when Fox 5 WNYW had an internet outage back in 2018, which led to the 5PM and 6PM news replaced with informercials. Shepard Smith anchored the 10pm news that night, with Fox News Channel staff assuming technical responsibilities until the issues were rectified. Good Day New York would also broadcast from Fox News HQ the following day, leaning on the FNC graphics.

  8. Lewis Dodley, one of NY1's original hires, retired after 32 years with the channel. Cheryl Wills takes a look back.

Here is a 2019 promo featuring Dodley

WPHL meteorologist Monica Cryan did the weather on PIX this morning (I believe remotely). I also realized that WPHL has nearly identical graphics to WPIX.

Because the WPHL graphics are the PIX-11 graphics.

Checking the schedule, https://www.nbc.com/schedule, I noticed there are no live morning newscasts on WNBC Christmas day.

The first newscast of the day is News 4 NY at 6. Is this new or a standard thing for them?

Checking the schedules for the other stations: WABC is 5-7am. WCBS is 6am. WPIX is 4-8am. WNYW is the regular 4:30-10am.

Possibly to give the AM crew Christmas Day off.
