  1. All I can report is that when I asked my friend who works at the station if he looked forward to the new 2nd Floor setup, he told me he wouldn't miss 3K! Infer what you want!
  2. The point made about 2-story studios at 30 Rock by carolinanews4 no longer pertains to the way NBC designs television studios. Let's not forget that that the studios in the building were originally radio studios. They had the ability to accommodate a studio audience and their control booths and client rooms were one flight above the studio floor. In later years, TV control rooms were on the studio floor level and client rooms were abolished. Just look at New York's Studio 1A. When it was first built, I wondered why NBC designed it with such a low ceiling? But the network preferred to use the second floor as an additional production/storage area. And the recent design of Washington's Studio N1 on Capitol Street bears this out. N1's ceiling is only 14' high! Productions from both 1A and N1 now use the lighting grid as a frequent element in shots - no longer a mistake. And although I haven't been on the second floor for many years, I remember that the ceiling was quite high - not office height. So, the second floor at 3o Rock should be able to accommodate modern television news studios.
  3. NewscastStudio - https://www.newscaststudio.com/2022/01/14/wnbc-wnju-combined-facility/#:~:text=NBC-owned WNBC and WNJU,New York City metro area. and a friend who works for the station. Those are my sources!!!!
  4. 3K will be history for WNBC! The station along with WNJU/Telemundo will be moving to newly constructed studios on the 2nd Floor of 30 Rock. Not sure of the date for the move.
  5. Looks like family. I'd hate to think the station was involved in the production. If so ... Yes, his living room, his back yard and occasionally at a New Jersey farm.
  6. Or, what about someone who knows and cares do some judicious editing of Pete's report???? Things have become so sloppy at the station - how long can you blame Covid. Just take a look at the Bill's Books segment. With all those books in his home, surely he could be advised to use a few to prop up his laptop! Then there was this year's holiday sing-along - a travesty! Have you seen the new promos for Today in New York? The station doesn't have a "new team" - it has a new traffic reporter who has joined the team! Ignorance and apathy are alive and well at 30 Rock!!!! UGH!
  7. WSB, Atlanta!
  8. Let's hope she's more literate than another new addition, Chris Jose. One of his first stories was interviewing a young roller skater at the new rink and asking her - "How long have you been skating for?" UGH! The bar keeps getting lower and lower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I think I remember her from a few years ago when Raphael Miranda was off on paternity leave and she would occasionally fill in for him.
  10. Just learned that Chris Cimino will be joining WPIX doing morning weather and lifestyle reporting. Welcome back! You've been sorely missed.
  11. I don't know the answer the the question, but don't go by WNBC's website when it comes to station personnel. It's been a joke for years! First, try to find the pictures and bios of the on-air staff. It's like playing "Were's Waldo?" They are buried and unless you know how to find them, it's a mission impossible. Other stations proudly have easily found links to "Meet the Team." This ongoing problem was heightened when the station continued to list a reporter, with his picture and bio for some 18 months after he had died. I had to send an email to the then GM to have the page updated.
  12. Hey, WNBC even uses WNJU's frequency to transmit from 1WTC!
  13. The area in front of Prometheus was still under construction when the station wanted to shoot. Universal movie tie-in leveraged by corporate management. As far as I can remember, this is the first time the mention of "Christmas" was part of the lyrics used. Previously, management kept the songs "neutral."
  14. Trying to find logic in the station's mercurial scheduling of anchors is impossible. Remember when Adam would show up to do the 11 on Saturdays only when there was an original SNL? That made a bunch of sense!
  15. Obviously, management doesn't move quickly!
  16. You're trying to find logic and taste from a management that after heavily promoting its new 7 p.m., in-depth, news cuts it back to 15 minutes on Fridays. And its missing 15 minutes is given over to the inane New York Live. And let's not forget the management that allowed Matt Brickman to dress as if he were a circus clown on an Olympic Zone appearance! UGH!!!!!!
  17. Obviously not! Then why criticize the temporary desk?
  18. This Lucite desk is not the normal desk WNBC has used. This one was brought in as part of the station's response to Covidd-19.
  19. Or the sitting anchor thing!
  20. Congratulations to all! The desk next? Heard yesterday that there will a 7 p.m. half-hour newscast. Any idea about anchor/anchors? Strange, can't find any information on the station's website.
  21. Yes, instead of when at home, and Janice sitting down, it appears that the station went for a few bucks and unfurled the green. She can now do some of the meteorologist choreography. I can't keep up with Chuck's and Janice's locations - and don't get me started again on the idiocy of Adam K. only showing up on Saturday at 11 when there's a new SNL. That one remains the enigma of the ages!
  22. And what's even stranger and nonsensical is that Adam only shows up for the Saturday, 11 when there's an original SNL. Love to hear the rationale for that one!
  23. And, if you can't do it right, don't do it! Hard to identify faces - it doesn't work.
  24. Once again, the station has lost its way! The inclusion of network and syndication personalities is not what the Channel 4 "Sing-A-Long" is all about. It's local!!!!!! A number of years ago, they strayed and keyed-in an animated character that "just so happened" to be the star of a Universal Christmas movie! When I questioned management about commercializing this New York tradition, I was told that it had nothing to do with promoting a Universal movie. When hearing that, I offered to sell the exec a bridge connecting lower Manhattan to another borough.
  25. I'm totally confused! What does reporting the news have to do with if the program following the news is an original or repeat? That makes no sense.
