  1. According to Phil Lipof's Twitter page, today is to be his first at WNBC. Unfortunately, I also noticed on the pages that he inexplicably makes political comments! How wrong and unprofessional. His role at WNBC, and I'm sure as an anchor at two Boston stations, is not to editorialize, just to report the news not to express his personal feelings. He couches the comments with "POLITICS ASIDE" - that doesn't ameliorate his lack of judgment. Professionals are expected to keep their political thoughts to themselves In fact, many won't even vote! Once again, the misuse of Social Media can be the bane of broadcast "journalists."
  2. This goes back to when Stefan was there. Lots of things don't make sense!
  3. That's surprising!!!!! Really strange. Had fully expected Gilma to be flying solo.
  4. That's too bad. The green eyeshades have prevailed!!!!!
  5. OK His wife hated living in New York! First when they lived on the UES and now in New Rochelle. Pain and simple, she's homesick!!!! David had been considered by many to he the heir apparent to Chuck, that was until Stefan was given the 11 when Chuck cut back. Stefan was clearly the chosen one. He will be the #1 anchor at WMAQ, the path isn't just clearer, it's a reality, part of his deal.
  6. David Ushery is now "The Crown Prince"! Chuck cut back on his work when he gave up the 11.
  7. Adam Kuperstein is replacing David, who's replacing Stefan. I would imagine that Phil will replace Adam co-anchoring the weekend 6 and 11, and doing general reporting.
  8. Bravo!
  9. On good authority, Stefan Holt's move back to WMAQ had nothing to do with NBC cost cutting, it was the anchor's family's choice. Supposedly, New Rochelle didn't cut it for Stefan's wife, Morgan.
  10. The Empire State Building was finished in less time!
  11. Woke up late this morning and missed TINY, is Maria LaRosa back in 3k? Very strange. She came back among the other weather reporters to work from the studio and then went back home.
  12. Thanks, that's it.
  13. At times, a new Lucite desk is used camera-right that allows co-anchors to sit.
  14. That picture is quite old - the video wall no longer has mullions. Not sure if the size of the anchor desk changed - it's always been quite narrow.
  15. Don't forget Adam Kuperstein - I think he has a better shot than Gus Rosendale. My own choice would be David Ushery. I've been a fan since his days at WABC.
  16. Stefan Holt has been quoted as saying that he grew up in Chicago and that he and his wife want to raise their two sons there. Chacun à son goût.
  17. Chicago is a step down it's Market #3. Chicago, of course, isn't a dump! His parents live in the NY area - which leads me to believe a friend's speculation that the move isn't his choice.
  18. Just read a very strange story - Stefan Holt is moving back to WMAQ in Chicago!!!!! He'll be back in his old hometown in October. Was he and his family homesick? Makes no sense - he's been viewed as the heir apparent to Chuck Scarborough.
  19. Pat mentioned that Gus is off this weekend.
  20. Why is Matt Brickman doing the weather from home? Raphael Miranda worked out of 3K this morning. And speaking of morning, where is Pat Battle?
  21. Well, the morning's anchor's audio level was back in the basement! Amazing that no one hears this problem. Amazing that no one does anything about it. Amazing that the audio level coming from a street reporter wearing a mask is better than the anchor's! There very well could be one audio "engineer" who should be working with mimes!!!!!
  22. Anchor's audio finally back to normal this morning. Let's hope this holds.
  23. The anchors' audio in the mornings has been incredibly low. I realize that it's so difficult to produce live television during the pandemic, and then add on summer vacations. It's just in the mornings - newscasts later in the days are fine! But, it makes to sense, and you don't need meters or graphs to indicate that there's something very wrong. How can the weather reporter have normal audio levels? How can a split screen with Chuck Todd from D.C. provide correct audio yet the anchor's mic level is in the basement? This has been going on for more than a week. Doesn't anyone in the control room or an exec at home listen and realize that there's something very wrong????
  24. The desk isn't that wide!
  25. Let's not forget Chuck and his great bookcase!
