So I Craig at the desk when the show starts? If so this is giving off GMA/CBS Mornings vibes LOL!
Maybe they should just make him the third co-anchor officially.

Likely just a Labor Day fill-in
Maybe also a sign of what could be to come.

Didn’t get to watch this morning but was there any tribute to Willard or maybe that will that be saved for this upcoming week?
Loved Willard and his Smuckers birthday segment.
Jane Pauley had a tribute to him on Sunday Morning. Not sure about the other morning shows.

I noticed that as well. He filled in on the weekend morning news once earlier this year, too. Doesn’t happen often but has certainly happened before. That used to be more common in the 90s.

It was interrupted by the network carrying President Biden's remarks and then went to Days. At 5, Natalie joined Adam, and they are both doing the 6.
Thanks for the info.

Agreed, they ended up extending through noon, over Days of our Lives.
So they went until 1?

Daily Beast reporting that Robin and George are at odds over comments Robin made on a staff call after the reports / lawsuits surfaced. ABC says the two have discussed the comments and are fine. Safe to say tensions are high.
Will see how much longer they both last together.

Move timeslots or leave MSNBC?
My guess is a different timeslot since nothing about him leaving has been mentioned.

As if the drama can't get any bigger, TVNewser is reporting that Brian Williams is looking to leave his 11 p.m. slot.
MSNBC can do better than Brian at 11.

Can y'all just stop! This happens every year when staff take vacation. They are entitled to vacation. And for many with years of experience and high compensation, they get a lot of it. When an anchor is missing they may be sick, may be on vacation or took a personal day for whatever reason. We don't need 20 posts speculating they are gone or whatever. It is too often on WABC, and as was mentioned it spilled over to WNBC as well. If someone leaves a station, you all find out anyhow. No need to speculate. Back to the topics.
I’m owed an apology by paradox!

There's also no reason for you to postulate or extrapolate on what one person's question of a vacation to the assumption that they left the station.
You did the same thing in the NBC thread about David Ushery, saying he left because you hadn't seen him for a few weeks on air nor on social media. Then he was back on air, after taking a vacation in August,

plus Steve did the 10 pm that night too! Crazy schedule.
Did he also do the 5pm newscast as well?

Did anyone say or ask if he left the station? The question was if anyone knew.. plenty of people take more than a week for vacation but living in a pandemic being out over a week could mean something else too. He usually posts on SM too and has not. That’s why I ask.
All these questions make it seem that way. Can’t he take a vacation without people wondering what happened to him?
6 hours ago, Paradox said:No one ever said he left the station, you did in your reply here.
They only asked if he was on air during that week, in which another replied he's probably on vacation.
There’s no need to be snarky.

He's probably on vacation.Being out a week or two does not mean he left the station.

It is, however, with Kristen Welker still on maternity leave, the show has been using Studio 1A occasionally. Often times, depending on the female anchor, that is easier. For example, Vicky Nguyen filled in today. So since her and Dylan are both based in NYC, that is easier to have Peter travel a few hours north.
I think it makes more sense to do the show in NY.

So do I. I think Roz continued that for Bill and Liz although once she left WABC is when they stopped doing that.
The best was when Roz would say “The news continues now with DIANA Williams.” I don’t think Roz ever filled in for Bill at 6. It was either Diana, Greg Hurst or Harry Martin.

Always LOVED that signature line leading into the 6pm news. Wish they kept in place and adapted for current times… “the news continues NOW with Bill Ritter and Liz Cho”… certainly sounds better than, “There’s still much more news ahead. Eyewitness News at 6 starts now.”

Does anyone know why WABC never paired Roz and Bill together at 11? I thought it was odd that they didn’t given that they often co-anchored special coverage of different events with Diana reporting in the field during that coverage.
“The news continues NOW with Bill Beutel.”-Roz Abrams 1990s. Remember that?

With all this talk about past anchor teams I’m surprised Roz Abrams and Bill Beutel were never official co-anchors, granted that they were two large presences at Eyewitnesses News during that time period. It would’ve been like Chuck and Sue, the straight-laced news man with the more vibrant and personable female coanchor. I grew up on Diana Williams who was awesome, but I feel like Roz would’ve been a stronger presence with Bill B at 11.

For those who are wondering, David Ushery is back on the anchor desk today.
So I guess he didn’t leave WNBC after all.

Add another female anchor to cover 5 and 7pm is all they need to ensure that all newscasts from 4-11 have an anchor duo. With this method, each individual anchor would have a relatively even distribution across newscasts. That way (for example) Natalie wouldn't have to be on at 4,6,7 and 11.
As for CBS 2, I think the issue is the newscasts feel a bit corporate at times rather than genuinely New York. It’s hard to explain but I see CBS o&o stations are struggling in other big markets too, so there is that factor about there is newscast that doesn’t beat out the competition.
They can promote one of their weekend anchors. I hear you about CBS 2.
