Because GMA needs 2 weekday weather people? Or Sam wants to play second fiddle to Mike Woods? Doubt it.

Either WABC is going to 5 weather people like most of the other O&Os (6in the case of WPVI), or one person’s leaving, and if it’s Sam, I doubt it’s for another job.

Who says Ginger wouldn’t be leaving GMA or promoted to co-anchor? Sam would only go to be the co-anchor of Good Day and then Mike would be the one who’s playing second fiddle. Anyhow will see what happens.

That's not another possibility. That clearly falls under this...

Regardless they don’t need 5 weather people. My guess is Sam is going to GDNY or Lee’s going to GMA.

Certainly a possibility. The logical and optimistic assessment would slot her as a 5th, but in a budget crunch era, someone else exiting and keeping the count at 4 isn't out of the question.

Another possibility is Sam leaving. I think he’d be a good fit for GDNY if they decided to hire him.

On a related topic, WABC is hiring Brittney Bell from NC. It's not yet clear if any of their current meteorologists are leaving (I certainly hope it's not Amy Freeze). If Sam were leaving, that would make sense.

It would make sense. Perhaps Brittney is going  to do weekend morning weather and Amy is going to take Sams place doing the weekday morning weather if Sam is going to GDNY. It would make sense given Sam has subbed on Live and GMA. In fact he did audition to co-anchor for Eyewitness News during the weekends in the late 80s. I think he would make a good fit for GDNY and that he could work well with Rosanna. John Eliot is another possibility although I think Sam would be the better choice.

Also it’s better hours for Sam. Even tho 7am is still very early it’s not as early as 4:30am is.

Narmeen Choudry has left PIX11. She posted her goodbye on Facebook but didn’t go into detail as to why she left. All she said was she felt she had no other choice but to walk away.

It doesn’t sound like the best of splits.

… isn’t it also possible that either Jeff or Amy plan to leave, or that Sam plans to retire (again) at the end of this contract ?

All of that is possible. I suppose it’s even possible that Lee could be leaving the station although I think that’s very unlikely.

    Right. Especially at his age.

I don’t agree with you here.. Greg still has quite the following among viewers and even guests.. a lot of guests that used to appear on good day that no longer do now appear on Greg’s show.. you see a few people on Twitter that don’t agree or fire bsck or whatever on his page but that’s all SM.. if Greg were to come back (chances are low) i don’t see it hurting in any way

I’d much rather Dave Price return than Greg Kelly although that’s probably not likely to happen.

Sam Champion wouldn’t be the worst person to be a co-host.

I think that Greg has done enough at Newsmax to make himself toxic at any normal (call it mainstream if you insist) outlet. At least, I hope that is the case. And I really liked him on GDNY.

I’d think so. I’ll be mad if he’s back on the show. He comes off as likable although I would think he’s burned his bridges.

If I recall correctly, once Evans bought WLNG Radio, he never appeared on camera at WABC again

He did not and perhaps he breached his contact with WABC depending on when he bought WLNH radio.

WABC dumped the last six minutes of their morning show the day she signed off from EWN to announce she was leaving, air a package about her and have her back at the desk to say farewell live... and the network gave her a shout out about an hour later on Good Morning America.

That was more than what they did for Bill Evans. Did they even mention that he left?

  12. 3 hours ago, MorningNews said:

Disagree with this. The morning spot at WABC is deeply coveted and would be the pinnacle of most broadcast careers. I would bet that the 11pm, 6pm and morning show are the most important broadcast. Who should they have displaced on those shows to make her the evening anchor?

If Lori stayed at WABC for another 2 years she may have gotten the 5pm slot.

Last night Chuck and Natalie were standing next to each other behind the lucite desk.  This morning Michael and Darlene were sitting on stools behind the desk.  Both Maria and Lauren were standing next to them.  They mentioned it was the first time they were all close to each other in a long time.  WNBC ended the social distancing yesterday pm.  Adam and Janice were standing next to each other to introduce weather segments.

They "promoted" the 7 pm newscast last night, but did not say anything about anchors. The basically showed a graphic and said a new way to watch News4 begins Monday with News4 at 7.  That was it.  The lack of promotion, no statement on anchors makes me wonder if this is just a filler until they find a more permanent solution for the fall.  This is a big departure from how they launched the 4 pm newscast.  The last time they had the 7 pm, it moved to Cozi and used a range of reporters as anchors.  I guess we won't find out until Monday.

In 1994 and 1996 I think they used the news as a filler in the 7pm time slot during the summer. I think in 1994 it was for the whole hour and in 1996 it was from 730 to 8 before AH debuted.

I noticed this trend as well in an old videos from the Eyewitness News vault. From the tone of their '92 Gotti verdict coverage, it was clear they believed (and rightfully so) that John Gotti deserved to be behind bars. I was surprised at their lack of neutrality on the issue, as evidenced by some of the metaphors and with that (specifically) Jim Dolan used in his report. On the flip side, I love the colorful language that they used in their coverage. It felt engaging rather than just someone reading current events to you.

A rare clip of Susan Rosensgen. She basically was WABCs Deborah Norville.

I honestly believe the only shuffling that needs to be done is amongst the 4 afternoon/evening anchors. Have Dave & Liz anchor at Noon and 5pm, and Bill & Sade at 4pm, 6pm, and 11pm. That way each anchor pair is on 2 hours and no one from the morning anchor team (Shirleen) is being stretched. They should invest in an additional weather person honestly.

I think Sam wants the 10 Hour a day for 4 days per week schedule. Shirleen and Ken can do

mornings. David and Liz can do noon and 4pm and Bill and Sade can do the 5pm, 6pm and 11pm.

    To accommodate that I'd put:

    AM Ken & Shirleen

    Noon & 4pm David & Liz

    5p Joe & Sandra

    6 & 11p Bill & Sade

But the anchor lineup is solid as it is across the board so I'd just find someone to anchor with Sade at 5 other than Bill.

Maybe Sandra or Joe with Sade at 5?

  17. 3 hours ago, iron_lion said:

It would be cool to have Sandra as Sade's co anchor at 5, instead of stretching Bill between 5, 6 and 11, but she and Joe are a strong weekend duo so I'd leave that alone.WABC really has the strongest anchor lineup in the market.

What is it about ABC o&o's that they typically dominate?

How about Joe and Sandra at 5?

She’ll likely take the typical 12 week maternity leave when baby girl is born so expect her to be out all summer.

So do I. It will be interesting to see who fills on for her on Saturday Today and at the White House.

  19. I think TJH could be a good replacement for GS when he moves on someday from GMA. Yes I agree about BS. If they had him anchor for 10 years as opposed to for a year and a half I think the ratings would have been better. Then someone else could have been groomed as a successor. Someone else could have taken over FTN. I always thought Holt was better for NNN than Williams and perhaps had Koppel waited even another week before deciding to leave he could have been in a position to anchor WNT and he could have done well.
