  1. I've got the whole CBSpirit campaign video on tape. CBS had a few minutes to fill at the end of a broadcast of The Dark Crystal, in August of '87, and instead of 5 minutes of promos, that image song went into the break in between the movie and the news. That was the year Jake and the Fatman and Tour of Duty went on...and the year that Tom Selleck departed Magnum P.I. The remake is nothing like the old series.
  2. 15 minutes of a July 2004 WCCO newscast: And the complete 5/20/1993 KNDO News 23 Late Edition, the night the final beer was poured at Cheers. Top story: that said finale, with Yakima-area watch parties.
  3. Segment of KXTV's News 10 at Noon from 8/25/98, lifestyle segment on making an apple pie.
  4. Complete KEZI 9 News at 11, from March 25th, 2009.
  5. KIMA Yakima signs off early on August 29th, 1991 with a weather bulletin read by long-time meteorologist Stu Seibel and a sign-off, which includes a strange man (master control operator?) whispering 'good night' twice in the black screen... Bad quality as it was tracked wrong on the original VCR, but here's a 1992 signoff from KREM Spokane (which also includes a news update with Charles Rowe).More goodies coming as I go through tapes...
  6. KIMA NewsBeat and KNDO News 23 clips from November 1991, includes Jim Lewis on KNDO and Heidi Adami on KIMA (and the clips range between B&W and color) WOIO CBS 19 News at 11 open, 10/19/97 - Cleveland Indians won game 2 of the World Series vs. the Marlins that night, but would lose in 7 on a Marlins extra-inning walkoff. Elvis Mitchell is the guest host on this 40 minute aircheck of CBS News Nightwatch from August 15th, 1991 (off KREM 2 Spokane).
  7. I have four hours of KIMA Yakima taped on 9/11, but it's only Dan Rather (no local cut-ins). There were occasional crawls with closure info and phone numbers for the American Red Cross and various other organizations. Other than that, I have 8 hours of CNN taped that day, which is all archived on YouTube anyways. My recording begins about a minute before the first tower went down. Remember that this was Pacific time, and there weren't a lot of people rushing to find a tape at 5:50 in the morning when the first breaking news cut-ins went off.
  8. Lots to upload... KNDO NewsCenter clip from 6/6/88 (RFK assassination 20 years prior) My oldest clip of CNN Headline News, taped off Superstation WTBS on 2/26/1985 KIMA News at 5 clip, August 1997, Craig Galbreith and April Minister CBS Sunday Night News open 12/17/95 (plus commercials aired prior to it). KIMA did not air news on weekends until 2000. CNN Headline News (partial), 10/26/97 with Holly Firfer (also taped from KIMA...after CBS discontinued their Sunday Night News, they took CNN Headline News for a year or so, then went to NYPD Blue reruns at 11pm.)
  9. A compilation of Smuckers Birthdays in honor of Willard. I will miss you forever and so will millions. Whether you were getting ready to go to work, or if you were a little kid watching the Macy's Parade with mom and dad, Willard was a presence that NBC can never replace. RIP forever, Willard.
  10. A look at KECY-TV 9 (now Fox) in El Centro/Yuma during December 1992. No news operation at this time.
  11. Most of KCTV 5 News at 10, from 6/28/2001, notable for being Wendall Anschutz's final newscast. I didn't post the final goodbye segment... because it was already posted by someone else!
  12. WSMV Scene News clip from the summer of 1990 on TV DXing, with WSMV engineer Tom Bryant (who was/is a long-time WTFDA member). Carole Simpson anchors the first 7 minutes of ABC World News Sunday on 4/14/1996, taped from KMGH Denver. No audio on one side, this was in that brief period in between audio splitters on my Betamax VCR.
  13. KAPP/KVEW central WA is still using the pre-2021 logo in their IDs and promos. I'm pretty sure ABC will persuade them to change to the new look by the fall season.
  14. Part of the 11/27/91 News 8 Nightside from KFMB San Diego. And the open to KTLA Channel 5 News at Ten from 8/13/94. Top story about a plane crash near Palmdale that killed three.
  15. KUSA 4:00 at 9News (partial), taped 7/19/2001 Also some News San Diego teasers in this block from 1988, reuploaded from the channel suspensions back in March. Will be posting a 1991 newscast next week from KNSD
  16. Part of a KIMA NewsBeat 5:55 broadcast from September 15th, 1989. Colleen Bagnall the anchor, with Gary Peixoto on sports and Stu Seibel's WX. KIMA, KEPR and KLEW aired their evening news at *5:55* for many years, then went back to 6. Not sure what happened...I had two others at the ready. KATU 6/17/99 5PM open WHO NewsCenter from 11/25/93 (partial)
  17. Pizza Hut too, a near-carbon-copy of their vintage logo. I'm OK with that!
  18. WRAL News at Five open, 11/16/06 (tornado damage)
  19. I find the new logo ugly and crude, but at least it's not an entire revamp of ABC in general. The last thing we need is the black circle disappearing altogether. However, the on-screen logo bug reminds me of how it looked on primetime and daytime shows in the '00s, flat 2-D and not the 3D they have been using since the start of the HD days.
  20. Part of KCTV 5 News at 5PM from September 2nd, 1997 and first bit of KWGN Channel 2 News from December 4th, 1987 (Ernie Bjorkman anchors)
  21. Which means KIMA will be gone for weeks or months. Just like KFFX vs. DirecTV two years back. Even Seahawks games were locked out of subscribers for the first month or so of the NFL season.
  22. My grandmother will be pi$$ed, as a regular KIMA news watcher and Young & The Restless fan for decades. She has a little rabbit ear just for that purpose and thankfully Ahtanum Ridge is line-of-sight from her farmhouse. And this isn't the only time...remember Fisher vs. Dish? 6 month blackout in 2009, cost everyone months of local programming in the Northwest. That rabbit ear was bought for that purpose!
  23. Reuploaded this little snippet from KWGN, taped in 1980 (no audio on left side)
  24. Dave Young opens KWGN's Channel 2 News on May 8th, 1988 And re-uploaded for your pleasure, the 3/14/81 close to KMGH News 7 at 10, and open to their Cinema 7 presentation of Easy Rider.
  25. At least KNAZ was able to for as long as they did. Even if they could 'barely' support news, the community supported them. Small town TV is great, when done right. Then KNAZ lost money and sent everyone packing, simulcasting Phoenix instead. Anyways, another 'small town TV' newscast, KAPP 35's Nightcast from 12/21/90 with a young(er) Dana Cowley, Mark Lee and Bob Romero.
