  1. Oh, my bad. I don't live there anymore, and I shared this from the Discord.
  2. For the first time since 2014, CBS News New York is bringing live morning news back to its sister station WLNY that'll air at 7am. The station' previous incarnation, "Live from The Couch," aired from 2012 to 2014. It had a different premise, which was offering a bit of news, and a lot of interviews, and light-hearted segments. Obviously, this one is going to have complete news.

  4. Well, CBS Sports has went local. At least in Colorado so far.
  5. As stated previously, with the rebrand, stations can opt-in with keeping their channel logos as a symbol, or switch to call letters due to research and viewership feedback. Therefore as CBS Texas debuted last week, they've kept the channel logo as a symbol. “Based on that research and a little bit of gut we know that’s something that resonates. I think it was a no-brainer that while you’re trying to make a position around CBS New Texas, that it remained.” https://www.The Other Site.com/2023/02/28/cbs-news-texas-rebranding-ktvt/
  6. Another note too. "CBS News Texas Sports"??? Long name for a local sports division. When CBS was developing this entire local strategy as part of the national rebrand, didn't they thought of a division combining CBS Sports and the locals that cover it? Or....just simply asking stations to brand sports coverage based on it? SB: Nice to see Andy Adler from her (W)PIX 11 days.
  7. According to someone on the Discord server, the regular linear station has the CBS News bug blue, while streaming is white. What is Texas doing right now?? Get your graphics in order.
  8. Sorry for being nitpicky, but they didn't even align the CBS News logo right. Some portions of the graphics aren't aligned right either.
  9. I think a question that pairs well is does she even work for any network, or a station? Or does she work on TV at all? Haven't heard or seen her name in years. Maybe because I stream-only too much. But still. Update: I knew on Wikipedia it states that she did infomercials for Westmore Beauty Body Coverage in May 2020. But right after I made the original post, I researched and saw that she's at Clarity Media Group working as a Communications Specialist since June 2013. But if anyone knows if she made any other appearances after her "Live From the Couch" WLNY days, let me know.
  10. NewsNation has TV apps for Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Samsung. The app is the first to be developed using Haystack Technology. It's based on the Haystack news app that offers live, and playlist-based videos. It has the weather, stocks, news and more in a cable news styled ticker at the bottom of the screen. But NewsNation didn't want to use that portion of the features. A thing to note is that NewsNation videos are on the Haystack app itself. And both UIs are literally the same, minus the colors, splash screen, etc. So why would NN partner with Haystack instead of developing it themselves? Maybe they were too lazy in getting developers themselves.
  11. Simple takeway: PIX 11 has been pushing potential since moving away from its funky Jodi Applegate era, but just need to apply themselves.
  12. 4 weeks ago, DIRECTV took off Newsmax over a carriage dispute. And they're still talking about it today. And I didn't even remember it till I tuned into the channel.....from The Roku Channel, which they will ethier remove themselves from or make a clip, replay, whatever channel Newsmax will make out of it in the coming months. Meanwhile, ABC News Live was removed on the Roku Channel. Not a peep. "But these are two different channels, and two different services." Okay....still. Anyway, make your own judgment.
  13. I would refer to this topic: Why? Because, it's already been known what stations are rebranded as. All of them are known as CBS Local. It's just up to them if they want to keep the call letters or or numbers on top of it, and that all will be rebranded by Spring. The transition started last year, when the stations refreshed the website with the new names. You'll see the new station names on there. So I don't think it's necessary to guess when we already have the answer right in front of us. Tidbit: CBS Local is not a name I made up, by the way: https://www.cbsnews.com/cbslocal/
  14. I see NewsNation as a channel that wanted to spill some sort of Tribune, 2010-daytime era vibes of news quality over WGN America. Now, if these local stations' news divisions ever become fully local NewsNation', will they automatically have more viewers than mothership itself? Automatically, yes. But will it get more viewers than the other affiliates? Something tells me, if the station gotten viewers more than the affiliates before, it'll probably stay that way, unless the station drastically changes the format to accommodate the new local NewsNation that the viewer will draw outrage over.
  15. Expanding my thoughts on this entire CBS News Local rebrand. Even though this entire thing of rebranding all newscasts from random names, like CBS (Number) News, Eyewitness News, (Call letters) News, to a simple CBS News Local is a good thing to me, I now think it may not be good enough. To me, I now think that if you are doing this entire rebrand with the goal of having a local to national approach, I think the local newscast should be able to match the national newscast. For example, the local news organization brand should remain CBS News Local. But for example in New York in the mornings, the newscast should be called "CBS New York Mornings," just like the national "CBS Mornings," and in the evening, like at 6:00pm, it should be called "CBS New York Evening News," like the CBS Evening News, or to be short "CBS New York Evenings." And not only have it renamed, the local newscasts should also have the same quality production as the national. I'm not saying change the set, or change the way reports are done. But rather try to make it feel more like I'm watching a national newscast in the local segway, instead of being the cheap quality that people have been used to for so many long years. It feels smart to do that as not only you'll help unify your local to national approach even more, but it can also be like a smooth transition and segway to the national newscast as well. I'm sure as alot of people can tell, they're not doing that. I'm probably sure that some are gonna say, so you want it to be the way that BBC News or Global News does it. Well, why not? Give me a bit of international flare into my newscast. Give me something fresh and new to watch in my newscast, and not just the same boring, out of order, un-unified approach. The way that the current roll-out of the new brand is working may be good. But I feel like there could be so much more than just calling the local newscast based on your news organization all the time, and having the same graphics system, the same music, etc.
  16. Well she's back at CBS News, at least in some compacity. Hopefully it is a launchpad to get back into the national spotlight, and maybe use her later on in their "local to national" plan, as they did Jamie Yuccas.
  17. The CBS News Los Angeles brand already exists right now. Yes, not as the primary brand for KCAL, but through streaming and its digital coverage on the website. As for on-air, as I stated before, the call letters and the channel numbers are gonna vary based on location through CBS Brand research. “We have research in each and every one of our markets,” said McMahon. “We’ve tested this to a place where we feel we make a decision that’s most aligned with our audiences and our viewers.” “In some markets, viewers may see channel numbers remain while in others – such as at KPIX in San Francisco – stations will lean into call letters as the primary moniker alongside the location name.” That's according to the specific source of unknown name. So, if they did the research, why would they reverse it now, or in a year's time for one station? Now, I'm not the manager at KCAL News, so you never know, but based on what they want to do now....maybe this is it. Agreed.
  18. Gotcha. I mean, I guess it's kinda an okay thing then with Nexstar doing this. Thanks everyone.
  19. To be honest, I don't know any station group that did it. But CBS did so a time ago with their CBS Local brand. They actually did it for some places not O&O, for example they did CBS DC, even though WUSA is not O&O by them. Was it effective? I don't know. Maybe not, as the CBS affiliate that's not O&O would get more attention automatically as it's a station that can get more ad revenue, unless CBS Local did heavy promotion themselves, which I doubt they did back then.
  20. Obviously, with TV stations. But online digital coverage, why not?
  21. I was channel surfing on Pluto TV and stumbled upon CBS NEWS DFW when they were talking about Texas Governor Greg Abbott's State of the State address. And I literally had to search YouTube, because I thought maybe they were taking clips from a Nexstar station covering it, which was weird, but alright. But no. The Governor's SOTS was produced in partnership with Nexstar (KXAN). I have alot of mixed feelings. On one hand, I feel like it's good because of high production quality for the address, and a smooth transition to the Democratic response, etc. On another hand, I feel like it is weird to have a local media outlet produce a Government address, or anything like that matter. Yes, they allowed both sides of the aisle to address Texas, but at the same time I feel like there's a bit of a violation of journalistic ethics. But what I'm also wondering, has a State Government partnered with a local media outlet to do something like this?
  22. Obviously, the CBS News Local standard makes news division names simpler. So, this is easily one of the simplest local news division names yet
  23. I don't blame you for that thought. I never watched it in years, to be honest.
  24. They sound like they didn't want to read that script on the teleprompter. But the boss forced them to do it like they're in a hostage situation. Update: They removed the video that @tvtime07 shared. Oh yes....a definite backtrack now.
  25. That's why we have Public Media. We have PBS NewsHour. Yes, it's an hour. But their stories have so much room and relaxes. Even their weekend edition (30mins) still holds the concept.
