  1. I would refer to this topic: Why? Because, it's already been known what stations are rebranded as. All of them are known as CBS Local. It's just up to them if they want to keep the call letters or or numbers on top of it, and that all will be rebranded by Spring. The transition started last year, when the stations refreshed the website with the new names. You'll see the new station names on there. So I don't think it's necessary to guess when we already have the answer right in front of us. Tidbit: CBS Local is not a name I made up, by the way: https://www.cbsnews.com/cbslocal/
  2. I see NewsNation as a channel that wanted to spill some sort of Tribune, 2010-daytime era vibes of news quality over WGN America. Now, if these local stations' news divisions ever become fully local NewsNation', will they automatically have more viewers than mothership itself? Automatically, yes. But will it get more viewers than the other affiliates? Something tells me, if the station gotten viewers more than the affiliates before, it'll probably stay that way, unless the station drastically changes the format to accommodate the new local NewsNation that the viewer will draw outrage over.
  3. Expanding my thoughts on this entire CBS News Local rebrand. Even though this entire thing of rebranding all newscasts from random names, like CBS (Number) News, Eyewitness News, (Call letters) News, to a simple CBS News Local is a good thing to me, I now think it may not be good enough. To me, I now think that if you are doing this entire rebrand with the goal of having a local to national approach, I think the local newscast should be able to match the national newscast. For example, the local news organization brand should remain CBS News Local. But for example in New York in the mornings, the newscast should be called "CBS New York Mornings," just like the national "CBS Mornings," and in the evening, like at 6:00pm, it should be called "CBS New York Evening News," like the CBS Evening News, or to be short "CBS New York Evenings." And not only have it renamed, the local newscasts should also have the same quality production as the national. I'm not saying change the set, or change the way reports are done. But rather try to make it feel more like I'm watching a national newscast in the local segway, instead of being the cheap quality that people have been used to for so many long years. It feels smart to do that as not only you'll help unify your local to national approach even more, but it can also be like a smooth transition and segway to the national newscast as well. I'm sure as alot of people can tell, they're not doing that. I'm probably sure that some are gonna say, so you want it to be the way that BBC News or Global News does it. Well, why not? Give me a bit of international flare into my newscast. Give me something fresh and new to watch in my newscast, and not just the same boring, out of order, un-unified approach. The way that the current roll-out of the new brand is working may be good. But I feel like there could be so much more than just calling the local newscast based on your news organization all the time, and having the same graphics system, the same music, etc.
  4. Well she's back at CBS News, at least in some compacity. Hopefully it is a launchpad to get back into the national spotlight, and maybe use her later on in their "local to national" plan, as they did Jamie Yuccas.
  5. The CBS News Los Angeles brand already exists right now. Yes, not as the primary brand for KCAL, but through streaming and its digital coverage on the website. As for on-air, as I stated before, the call letters and the channel numbers are gonna vary based on location through CBS Brand research. “We have research in each and every one of our markets,” said McMahon. “We’ve tested this to a place where we feel we make a decision that’s most aligned with our audiences and our viewers.” “In some markets, viewers may see channel numbers remain while in others – such as at KPIX in San Francisco – stations will lean into call letters as the primary moniker alongside the location name.” That's according to the specific source of unknown name. So, if they did the research, why would they reverse it now, or in a year's time for one station? Now, I'm not the manager at KCAL News, so you never know, but based on what they want to do now....maybe this is it. Agreed.
  6. Gotcha. I mean, I guess it's kinda an okay thing then with Nexstar doing this. Thanks everyone.
  7. To be honest, I don't know any station group that did it. But CBS did so a time ago with their CBS Local brand. They actually did it for some places not O&O, for example they did CBS DC, even though WUSA is not O&O by them. Was it effective? I don't know. Maybe not, as the CBS affiliate that's not O&O would get more attention automatically as it's a station that can get more ad revenue, unless CBS Local did heavy promotion themselves, which I doubt they did back then.
  8. Obviously, with TV stations. But online digital coverage, why not?
  9. I was channel surfing on Pluto TV and stumbled upon CBS NEWS DFW when they were talking about Texas Governor Greg Abbott's State of the State address. And I literally had to search YouTube, because I thought maybe they were taking clips from a Nexstar station covering it, which was weird, but alright. But no. The Governor's SOTS was produced in partnership with Nexstar (KXAN). I have alot of mixed feelings. On one hand, I feel like it's good because of high production quality for the address, and a smooth transition to the Democratic response, etc. On another hand, I feel like it is weird to have a local media outlet produce a Government address, or anything like that matter. Yes, they allowed both sides of the aisle to address Texas, but at the same time I feel like there's a bit of a violation of journalistic ethics. But what I'm also wondering, has a State Government partnered with a local media outlet to do something like this?
  10. Obviously, the CBS News Local standard makes news division names simpler. So, this is easily one of the simplest local news division names yet
  11. I don't blame you for that thought. I never watched it in years, to be honest.
  12. They sound like they didn't want to read that script on the teleprompter. But the boss forced them to do it like they're in a hostage situation. Update: They removed the video that @tvtime07 shared. Oh yes....a definite backtrack now.
  13. That's why we have Public Media. We have PBS NewsHour. Yes, it's an hour. But their stories have so much room and relaxes. Even their weekend edition (30mins) still holds the concept.
  14. Sorry. To be honest, I think doing this is great to help bring unity and connection between the two top CBS News shows, and bring a mini newscast for people who don't want to watch too long, but still at least get the information needed in a world where now an AI robot can give it to you.
  15. This ain't the first time they attempted something like this. Remember the middle of the Jeff Glor era?
  16. Can't wait to see the major backlash
  17. The new scorebug has debuted. Looks nice. Don't know if this is new, as I'm only watching this because it's free but, the scorebug is interchangeable to allow any information on the players and other things like total plays. Expanded details on the players Flag piece of the scorebug Referee warning piece of the scorebug Booth review Touchdown: Eagles Touchdown: Chiefs These Touchdown graphics are very cartoonish. Even the images of the players are drawn. Scoring board information. I wish a variation of this worked with the Touchdown graphic. Looks nice and elegant with a touch of sportiness. The Super Bowl logo is nice and 3D, rebuking the now-typical flat trends Another 3D transition
  18. Do viewers think that because the logo is read like the way it is, it's meant to be said that way? I guess then YouTube should actually be called “Play YouTube”, the upcoming Super Bowl should be called “L-V-I-I Super Bowl”, and FedEx should be called “Fed-Arrow-Ex”. Now, I'm not saying no. Obviously, there's wordmarks on logos to help people know what it is called. Heck, there's even some logos without the wordmark, so it may be hard to tell what is it called, unless they are so popular you don't even need the wordmark. But I'm also saying some logos can include symbols that are meant to be there that includes words, but it's not meant to be said with the brand. So I'm pretty sure that what we're seeing in some of these new CBS News local logos are station symbols, because as I stated a time ago, CBS is researching which brand is more popular, which station should ditch the channel number, etc. I guess the stations that want to keep the channel numbers, this may be the route for their news counterparts.
  19. The streaming service? Cool. The premium cable channel? There's no way they'll rebrand to such a long name like that.
  20. Obviously, this is 100% wrong and unjustified, especially with what the Governor said. And no reporter should bare that. But with all the bad stuff that they've been doing, specifically with Perry Shook and his actions inside and outside NewsNation, you can say this was karma.
  21. I feel like we should have a discussion, or debate, on this. There's a TikToker who used to be with KSEE in California who now works for KRIV in Texas who posts dance videos all the time, and now wants to be credited when reporters grow their following. We have reporters who use social media to promote products like they're some random social media influencers. And we even have national reporters, yes, national reporters, who take selfies, smiling while covering something tragic, like a murder for example. (Yes, I read all of this on FTVLive. They're apart of my media consumption) I'm wondering, is this normal? Is this how the media is supposed to be in this generation? Is this what you are supposed to do to get a job working for the media? My gut tells me no. But I really want to know, especially if anybody here used to, or still works for a media outlet (local or national), if this place has them. But I'll tell you one thing, I feel like I'm living in an era where if I want to work in the media, I literally have to do all of this, instead of just doing basic, serious hard hitting journalism, it's scary because if I don't do any crazy thing a manager forces me to do, I'll be fired. But, if I want to do easy work and be popular and earn lots of money, it's a good thing. This is a crazy era of social media and the media.
  22. Unsurprisingly, NewsNation may be so desperate to hire the two lovebirds from GMA. The same news organization ran by a man who had sexual assault allegations, who worked for GMA. https://www.msn.com/en-US/tv/news/forbidden-lovers-amy-robach--tj-holmes-looking-for-new-gigs-at-newsnation-after-being-dumped-by-abc-over-gma-affair/ar-AA17aRpi?ocid=sapphireappshare I have a slogan for them. NewsNation: We hire scandal-plaqued hosts to bring News to our Nation.
