  1. Why do they do that by having 2 weathercasters split the weekdays duties in the mid afternoon?  Why does a station need 5 permanent weathercasters?

I remember a while back, all KNBC had was Christopher Nance doing the morning newscasts weather and Fritz Coleman doing the evening newscast.   On the weekends,  they would have one of the co anchors reading the weather report with the weather maps on the screen.  A few years later, Paul Johnson was asked to work 7 days a week,  m - f doing traffic,  and on the weekends the weather.

I can understand the station having 4 weather casters,  but not 5.  If one of the 4 calls in sick, they can have a temp fill in.  Or they can have one of the other 3 fill in for the person that called in sick.

  2. Why doesn't NBC put all of its sports coverage that is on cable on the USA Network, instead of splitting it up.  Ex would be rugby on CNBC and some figure skating coverage on E! Channel.  Why not combine all of the coverage and put it on the USA Network and use CNBC as an overflow or secondary channel if needed?

  3. Her bio states that Sedano used to work for Univision in Los Angeles at KMEX 34.  Will NBCLA have her anchor at Telemundo KVEA 52 in the future as well?  If the anchors and reporters are bilingual,  why not utilize that and have them report for both stations.   That will help with their budget.

Does anyone believe that Kovacik may get 6pm co anchor spot and be given the 7pm anchor spot while Williams go back to co anchor the 5pm and anchor the 11pm news?

  4. What happened to the local sports business?  Why would Sinclair buy the networks from Disney if they were going to be bankrupt?  On the national level,  MLB, NHL,  and the NBA are making so much money from their TV deals.  Why on the local level the networks are not?

  5. There are many programs out there on many different networks, cable networks, digi-networks, and streaming services. It's a matter of what standards you are talking about.  At what level is the audience level too low to produce programs at a certain time?  I believe that the audience for network TV and every other platform will become so fragmented that they should continue to produce or maintain programming at certain hours, especially the 10pm slot.

  6. Will the network evening newscast expand to 1 hour on a regular basis?  I don't believe they will in the near future because they're investing in other news programs for their online and streaming news sites.

Maybe in a few years when the networks are in desperate need of more programming, they will put 1 hour editions of the evening news.

  7. The ratings are already low on these nights.  The networks have tried many different types of programming on these two nights and have not been successful.   Even if the ratings are geared towards older viewers, if the older viewers tune in, and if they can attract other viewers in addition to the older viewers, the total viewers might be more than whatever they're getting now.  Isn't the main goal of the networks is to get as many viewers to watch the programs that they put on the air?

I understand it is also about making profit off of the programming.   This might be a way to argue that they can attract more viewers with the classic programs that put on the air.

  8. Will NBC consider airing content from their movie and TV studio to fill the gap at 10PM?  A few years ago, NBC had the slogan, if you hadn't seen it, it's new to you.  Why not air classic shows on certain nights of the week with old shows and movies that they have?  They should do this on Friday and Saturday nights.  Then put more recent shows that have been off the air, put them at 10pm if needed.

NBC should make all the films and TV shows that are part of their studios available on peacocktv.

  9. Why didn't NBC try to make a deal to put some more college basketball and football on USA network with the Big 10?  They are trying to build content for Peacock, but I thought they wanted to turn USA to the destination for sports like what TNT / TBS are.

I think NBC should drop Nascar and get the NBA back.  They can put games on NBC, USA, and Peacock.

  10. Why are stations like KTLA airing so many hours of news on in a single day?  I understand that it is supposed to be cheaper than airing a regular hour or half hour TV show, but you are still paying people to sit there to read the news to viewers and have people behind the scenes editing and so forth.  Plus, other stations are also airing news at similar times.  How much are they stations actually saving and how much are advertisers actually paying each station, since many of the stations are showing the same thing - news at the same or similar times.  Plus, with so many stations airing so many hours of news, especially in Los Angeles, how do you expect viewers to tune in if all the stations or most of the stations are airing news at the same time?  At 5 and 6 pm, ch 2, 4, 5, 7, and 11 are showing news at the same time.  There's basically nothing on TV to watch besides news.  Ch 9 is showing funny you ask and family feud, while ch 13 is showing reruns.   In my opinion,  many viewers would just tune out or off and not watch at all, since many people can get their news online or later on in the evening.

  11. With the rebranding of KCOP to FOX 11 PLUS, what does it actually mean for the station?  They should do something within the next couple of weeks since FOX does have the super bowl this year, and that would help jumpstart whatever they're deciding to do with KCOP.
