They're also competing with Knbc & Kttv. Did kcbs have a 4am newscast before kcal start airing news at 4am or did their newscast start at 4:30am? Kcal started out with 4am newscast and now they recently canceled the 4am due to budget issues. Would this mean that they may reduce the news in the mornings even more in the future because of budget issues or due to ratings being low for the station to justify them airing news that early? I think they shouldn't have canceled the 4am newscast and find some other way to deal with the budget issues. I also believe that the ratings are not enough since there are so many stations airing news at the same time.

I notice that NBC did mention somethjng about it during the Olympics. Since Amazon mentioned about it during football, I have not seen NBC do that. I agree that both companies should probably wait a bit longer before mentioning abiut it to avoid any legal issues.

I've already seen Amazon mentioning on Thursday night footnall that they'll get the NBA in the fall of 2025. Has anyone noticed NBC mentioning that they'll get their part of the NBA deal on Sunday night football? I haven't heard them announce anything yet on air.

I heard they were like fox, but further right. Imagine if they started their own national news network and put it on their own and operated stations.

I think they should promote Craig, but maybe add someone new as well. Tom Llamas would likely be the next choice. If they're going to hire presidential daughters, maybe give Malia Obama or Barbara Bush a try as well.

They just started the newscast just over a year ago and are now reducing the hours.

Is there a reason for the cancelation of the 4am news? If they really wanted to compete with news, I was just suggesting they add more newscasts and move other programs to 9.6. I do believe there's too much news on tv in Los Angeles, but many of the other programs that are shown are not that interesting to watch.

I agree that ktla should have created a subchannel for ktla + and maybe they will in the future. I also think kabc should as well.

Adam gets promoted to a larger market whereas Jonathan gets demoted to a smaller market.

Maybe they should rebrand kcop and put more local news on the station. If another company like Disney which owns kabc owned kcop, they would probably add more newscasts to kcop. Otherwise, fox should put or produce more shows like tmz on kicop.

If the stations are planning to add more news to their lineup, I think they could add more newscasts, especially on kcop. For the times & days, it could be on the weekends. In the weekend mornings on kcop between 7-9am, then the weekend early afternoon from 3-5pm before the newscast starts on kttv. For the weekdays, they probably are not going to add any more newscasts.

They could add more newscasts on the main kcal 9.1. For example, weekdays from 1-4pm. Move the court shows to kcal 9 plus - 9.6 or kcbs. Then, everyday from at 7-8pm. They're have so many family feud episodes airing everyday. Currently 7-8pm daily, plus 11pm till midnight weekdays. On weekends, they can add early afternoon newscasts from 3-5pm.

Will KCAL be adding more news to their schedule? I noticed that they're adding a channel called kcal plus, which will have more local programs, but will that also mean more local news?

OK. I thought Marc Brown was going to consider retiring or stepping back with his duties. Now, that I ghink of it, he's still got some active years left before retiring. He's almost 10 years younger than Dallas Raines.

The Gates replaces the talk show. I was wondering if the show was still getting viewership, why didn't they just move it to paramount plus for streaming or put it on the other local CBS affiliate in certain markets for syndication?

I saw on TV listings that knbc is premiering a new program called Saturday Night Lights on August 31. I was wondering if it is produced by knbc or it's a general program following their college football coverage.

Wonder if the L.A. stations news department will be affected?
