Will they consider putting more local news on this station?

Will KCAL be adding more news to their schedule? I noticed that they're adding a channel called kcal plus, which will have more local programs, but will that also mean more local news?

OK. I thought Marc Brown was going to consider retiring or stepping back with his duties. Now, that I ghink of it, he's still got some active years left before retiring. He's almost 10 years younger than Dallas Raines.

I saw that there s a new subchannel called kcal plus, but no programing yet. What is supposed to be on the station?

Jovanna will anchor the 11pm solo?

The Gates replaces the talk show. I was wondering if the show was still getting viewership, why didn't they just move it to paramount plus for streaming or put it on the other local CBS affiliate in certain markets for syndication?

I saw on TV listings that knbc is premiering a new program called Saturday Night Lights on August 31. I was wondering if it is produced by knbc or it's a general program following their college football coverage.

Wonder if the L.A. stations news department will be affected?

What happened to Randy Mac consumer investigative reporter? I don't see his biography on the website of the station.
-
Is Toni Guinyard still with the station? Her bio is not listed on the station newsteam page with everyone else, but once you search her name, you can find her bio information. Did she retire?

I think wbd needs the NBA more than the NBA needs wbd. Wbd should have taken care of the deal during the exclusive window they and Disney had with the NBA so that they wouldn't have to try to compete to keep the rights to the NBA with other companies.

What happened to Carolyn Johnson? I haven't seen her lately. For the anchor changes, think it's temporary with Brownlee & Williams.

https://athlonsports.com/nba/nba-reportedly-leaning-one-way-following-major-tnt-media-rights-announcement There's a quote in this article that says the NBA is expected to reject wbd offer. It's an opinion held by New York Times Andrew Merchant. Other articles have stated similiar opinions as well. NBA hasn't officially rejected the offer, but many assume they will.

NBA is rejecting WBD offer. Lawsuits may come soon.

I saw her on the 3pm show as well.

The content was what I was referring to. Apple, Google, or Amazon could have offered amount that Redstone couldn't refuse for the TV & movie library the company owns. Plus the sports programming that CBS has contracts with.
-
I'm surprised a large tech company did not want to make an offer like Apple? A few years ago, rumors were thar Apple wanted to purchase Disney, which owns ABC.

I thought the new media rights deal was supposed to be announced before the finals were over. Why is it taking so long? If the show inside the NBA ends, then it ends. NBC should buy the rights to the show and air it on USA network. I think NBC, USA, & peacock will each air some exclusive games. I don't think they'll leave USA without NBA. NBC will probably get Sunday night games, USA will get the other prime time game, & peacock will get select games that are probably not in primtime.

NBC's logo should always be on the screen somewhere as that is what other networks do, but sometimes i noticed that it's not always the case. Wondering why that is? I would like to see that they are able to NBA games on not only NBC, but on USA & Peacock. USA does have a history of showing NBA & other professional sports in the past. I heard NBA was close to deal for Big East Basketball, but it will only be on NBC & peacock. They should put some games on USA, so that it would be more beneficial for the cable network. NBC should use USA as the destination for all of their cable sports programming, with cnbc being the alternative, while also continuing to invest in peacock. It doesn't make sense to air figure skating events on E entertainment channel as they have done in the past. -
NBC did not renew it's contract with indy, as fox takes over coverage. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/indycar-moves-fox-sports-2025-130921272.html

According to this article, NBC could show college basketball for the Big East conference. I wonder if they're going to put it on peacock and USA Network as well? https://www.nj.com/sports/2024/06/nbc-tnt-to-broadcast-big-east-mens-and-womens-basketball-in-2025-26-season-report.html
