I was watching the news on ch 7 earlier. Ellen Leyva is leaving the station in a few months. Have not seen any articles about it yet, since it was just announced earlier. Just found it. https://abc7.com/post/abc7-anchor-ellen-leyva-retire-29-incredible-years/15890532/

One reason is that NBC wants to build peacock as their destination for future sports coverage. NBC could always decide later to show highlights of the events shown on peacock.

I apologize. I saw fhat there was a tribute for Bradshaw. I only saw part of the segment. It may have been for the event held earlier last week for him.
-
Graphics are fine with me. Can't believe Terry Bradshaw is retiring. I thought he might have worked at least a couple more seasons, but with recent events that came up, i guessed he was forced to retire.

I've searched but have not read or found information about what happened to Guinyard.
-
Are Joel Grover & Toni Guinyard still with KNBC?
-
I would think that since they're paying a lot of $ for NBA rights, as well as Nascar, EPL, & other sports airing on USA currently, Comcast would move those events to peacock or put them on Bravo once they've successfully separated the cable networks to Spinco.
-
I'm not sure if I should ask this question here or in a different section or category, but NBC new deal with the NBA includes WNBA games being aired on USA network. Since USA will be part of spinco, will thus deal be changing so WNBA games will air on NBC or peacock instead?

I was under the impression that they would no longer be in control since the reason of splitting the channels to a separate company is to sell them.
-
According to this article, Comcast will still be in control of NBCU as well as spinco when it splits its cable networks from NBCU. So, are they selling spinco, or just separating the company, but keeping control of both of them? https://deadline.com/2025/01/spinco-nbcuniversal-programming-strategy-val-boreland-1236253204/

I agree that they should bring back personalities that are still in good standing with the network & wouldn't cause that much of a negative impact for the show. I think it may help with the ratings with their contributions in reporting on certain topics. It doesn't have to be just for today show, but other network news programs as well. Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira, Tom Brokaw, & Harry Smith are some examples. These & other former personalities could make appearances on a regular basis or during sweeps reporting on current news events of the day.

This is what networks should do when it is needed, use the resources of their local affiliates when breaking news occur. NBC had other options and decided to use the local affiliate coverage. If the issue is the graphics of the local station, it shouldn't be. The station is part of the network.

Is kttv getting a new subchannel? 11.3? If it's going to be TBD, what will replace TBD on ch 5.4?
-
I'm just stating that ktla won't give up the rights to the parade since it has been a major part of the station for years. Kttv may go back to not airing the parade next year depending on what the network tells them to do. I know that both stations are covering the parade this year.
-
I don't think that Ktla would not renew the rights to the rose parade, especially when they air it all day every previous year that they have aired the parade. Kttv is just airing the parade this year since the network doss not have national sports programming to provide to local stations this year. If kttv was planning to go back to airing the parade every year, in those years when kttv needs to air national sports programming in the past, they could have aired the parade on kcop, which they are planning to air reruns of the parade on this year. They could have renewed the rights to air the parade again and do this in the future if there are any conflicts in programming.

I don't understand why they would want to sell USA network. It's still one of the most watched cable networks and profitable. Instead of keeping bravo, why not move the programs that are on that network to peacock or combine it with the programming on USA network. I could imagine them combining cnbc & msnbc into one channel. They should remove some of the opinionated programs and just focus on reporting on the news & more in depth coverage or reporting of the days top stories. With the other channels / networks, I think they should have just shut them down and move the successful programs on those networks to peacock. I don't think the new company will be successful.
-
MSNBC probably needs to change their name sometime in the future. Maybe they should just call themselves TNN, The News Network. CNBC can keep the name since it stands for Consumer News & Business Channel.
-
I think they should move all their cable sports programming to bravo network, as well as peacock. Comcast will spin off most of their cable networks to a new company,. Eventually, they will sell that new company if a buyer makes a good offer for the new company, is that correct?
-
When Comcast sells off it's cable networks, including USA & cnbc, will they just move whatever sports programming that currently airs on those networks over to peacock?
-
According to this article, msnbc is not for sale. The network along with the other cable networks will still be owned by Comcast shareholders, just a separate stand alone company. https://www.newsweek.com/would-marc-cuban-buy-msnbc-billionaire-reacts-elon-musk-1991930

According to this article, Comcast will retain ownership at first. https://golf.com/news/nbc-owners-spin-off-golf-channel-whats-next/?amp=1 Is it possible that Comcast would retain a minority stake in the new company that will allow msnbc & cnbc to retain their names, & have USA network & golf channel continue to air NBC sports programs?
-
So, NBC won't own any local stations, including wnbc & knbc in the future?
-
Will Comcast still be the owner of the new company as well?
-
It does not make sense to separate msnbc, cnbc, & USA from NBC. The other channels, I can understand getting rid of them.
