  1. It is going to be hard to get rid of the NBC chimes, those have been used since the beginning.
  2. Same for WHDF in Huntsville
  3. Plus the previous events (at CBS Detroit) show that it is still possible for a news station to be built from scratch in this day and age. (albeit with some snafus along the way)
  4. I have been wondering will Gray let NBC affiliates display the Olympic rings? I think it is something to be proud of (being the only free station broadcasting the games), and a missed opportunity.
  5. I hope the L3s get updated with the new ticker, the two just don't match.
  6. And the cycle continues, it would even stranger if Gray were to then have their stations (not WANF) put WPCH on a sub-channel, that will never happen though. I am thinking as it is centrally located in the western US, it is possible that they might be another Graphics hub, they could also build a newsroom there to build a western edition of Local News Live. Those are both possibilities. There is a long-shot possibility that they'll try to take the FOX affiliation from Scripps.
  7. Some big news from Gray today: asset swap with Marquee out west: PRESS RELEASE Gray, Syncbak and NAB announce new local streaming platform Zeam (Morgan Murphy Media as well) Read here. Additionally; there is this More Here According to a different website that shall not be named, 'Zeam' is to serve as a successor to VUit.
  8. They have been using the "simulated window" look for years, and when the camera is positioned just right, it is barely noticeable. That is until someone walks by.
  9. the column has always been there, they have just tried to hide it for the last 30 years:
  10. I think they made the change about three Saturdays ago on the sixth. The fake mullions (referred to as border), help distract from the fact that its a camera feed, and in my opinion it is an improvement.
  11. I don't know where else to ask, so here it goes... Is King Charles filmed in front of a live studio audience?
  12. If it is from GrayONE, the graphics would use Barlow as the font as that is the font choice for GrayONE. Its possible that the graphic was done in house and was designed so it would match with their existing graphics as well with GrayONE, so it could be used the end of the election cycle.
  13. They have been using "Hello News" since the beginning of November, as part of their 75th anniversary year long celebration.
  14. I like the use of more than two colors, gives it texture. Good thing they didn't go with the all red package!
  15. I think that Kristen Welker has improved the broadcast (Meet the Press) since she has taken over, especially the editions produced outside of the studio. My only problem is that NBC News (or Welker) doesn't give shout outs to the venue that temporarily was home to the broadcast. I feel that this is missed opportunity to make long lasting connections to the communities that Welker goes to. That said, I am trying to figure out where the broadcasts done out of the studio originate from. When it originated in Iowa last week, the broadcast was done from a furniture/salvage shop in Des Moines (West End Architectural Salvage). Today she is in Manchester, NH, in what appears to be a event venue, if anyone knows anything else, I would love to know.
  16. I would say that the L3s are definitely a little translucent now, and there is more motion in the L3s. Additionally, the diagrid seems to be blurred a bit as well Otherwise it is probably just a subtle update. The graphics certainly have aged well.
  17. WPTA made the switch at noon (local time) today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leRWd1t2nKs
  18. I might just have been lazy while watching the clip, but all that I noticed was taller L3s.
  19. They clearly did not know how to correctly execute the new ticker, they need to change the font color, or at least a translucent background, like all the others have done.
  20. It'll be interesting once WPVI (Philly) gets the new graphics, especially how they'll do the long opens will "Move Closer to your World". How long have they used their current package for?
  21. Chuck Todd was in this [WNJU] studio for Meet the Press NOW, saying that it is the "election headquarters". Seems like NBC using it for the key primaries. I'll update this post once they post it [MTPNOW] on youtube. First few minutes (I could only get the full thing, sorry about that) is of interest. And yes, i did say Chuck Todd, but that's a discussion for another thread.
  22. I know it's far, but WVUE in New Orleans is likely getting a new set when they move to their new building sometime in the next 12 months. Other than that you could check around at neighboring markets (it is possible that WTVM in Columbus gets a new set prior to their transition to GrayONE, but I am treading close to speculation) for future set availabilities.
  23. That may be true, but they can't undo the process of firing anchors, meteorologists, reporters, etc.
  24. Is it like the 'scrippscast' with a mix of national and local stories?
  25. Wouldn't be surprised if he takes leave to help her out for a few months. Wish her the best!
