  1. I think they made the change about three Saturdays ago on the sixth. The fake mullions (referred to as border), help distract from the fact that its a camera feed, and in my opinion it is an improvement.
  2. I don't know where else to ask, so here it goes... Is King Charles filmed in front of a live studio audience?
  3. If it is from GrayONE, the graphics would use Barlow as the font as that is the font choice for GrayONE. Its possible that the graphic was done in house and was designed so it would match with their existing graphics as well with GrayONE, so it could be used the end of the election cycle.
  4. They have been using "Hello News" since the beginning of November, as part of their 75th anniversary year long celebration.
  5. I like the use of more than two colors, gives it texture. Good thing they didn't go with the all red package!
  6. I think that Kristen Welker has improved the broadcast (Meet the Press) since she has taken over, especially the editions produced outside of the studio. My only problem is that NBC News (or Welker) doesn't give shout outs to the venue that temporarily was home to the broadcast. I feel that this is missed opportunity to make long lasting connections to the communities that Welker goes to. That said, I am trying to figure out where the broadcasts done out of the studio originate from. When it originated in Iowa last week, the broadcast was done from a furniture/salvage shop in Des Moines (West End Architectural Salvage). Today she is in Manchester, NH, in what appears to be a event venue, if anyone knows anything else, I would love to know.
  7. I would say that the L3s are definitely a little translucent now, and there is more motion in the L3s. Additionally, the diagrid seems to be blurred a bit as well Otherwise it is probably just a subtle update. The graphics certainly have aged well.
  8. WPTA made the switch at noon (local time) today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leRWd1t2nKs
  9. I might just have been lazy while watching the clip, but all that I noticed was taller L3s.
  10. They clearly did not know how to correctly execute the new ticker, they need to change the font color, or at least a translucent background, like all the others have done.
  11. It'll be interesting once WPVI (Philly) gets the new graphics, especially how they'll do the long opens will "Move Closer to your World". How long have they used their current package for?
  12. Chuck Todd was in this [WNJU] studio for Meet the Press NOW, saying that it is the "election headquarters". Seems like NBC using it for the key primaries. I'll update this post once they post it [MTPNOW] on youtube. First few minutes (I could only get the full thing, sorry about that) is of interest. And yes, i did say Chuck Todd, but that's a discussion for another thread.
  13. I know it's far, but WVUE in New Orleans is likely getting a new set when they move to their new building sometime in the next 12 months. Other than that you could check around at neighboring markets (it is possible that WTVM in Columbus gets a new set prior to their transition to GrayONE, but I am treading close to speculation) for future set availabilities.
  14. That may be true, but they can't undo the process of firing anchors, meteorologists, reporters, etc.
  15. Is it like the 'scrippscast' with a mix of national and local stories?
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if he takes leave to help her out for a few months. Wish her the best!
  17. Before this becomes buried, and if anyone wants to reference it, here is a link: Atlanta News First
  18. That seems like a missed opportunity with branding, if they went with blue, it would go perfectly with their call sign, as 99% of people associate cold (KOLD) with the color blue. Also, finally a station west of the Rockies makes the switch. (although there aren't that many in that direction anyways)
  19. I can only speak for Atlanta, but WAGA, a FOX O&O has been in second place in the ratings and has long been on WSB's tail for first. This might be a possibility for the similarities. Same thing to a lesser extent with Gray owned WANF/WPCH (similarities to GrayONE) although to a lesser extent.
  20. Does that remind anyone else of the Hearst Diagrid?
  21. CBS Plans Week-Long Residency In Las Vegas For Super Bowl LVIII This is not limited to sports broadcasts, it also includes; CBS News CBS Media Ventures & Entertainment CBS Affiliates may include non-O&Os
  22. Its about dam(insert another letter) time!!! Now if only they would get a top down upgrade of that set.
  23. Is this thread for just anything related to news in Atlanta now? If so, we might as well change the name of the thread.
  24. Since this thread is revived, it is worth mentioning WBRC now has eight meteorologists, albeit one primarily works on the Alabama Telemundo cluster (I am just guessing). See it for yourself: https://www.wbrc.com/page/meet-the-team/ screenshot
  25. Miguel Almaguer leaving NBC News: FTVlive
