Just info here. 1991-2006 CBS Evening News theme is the longest-running CBS Evening News theme, lasting for 14 years, 9 months, and 25 days (November 11, 1991 to September 5, 2006) and most remembered CBS News theme at the time (it was also used by CBS Morning News during similar timeframe). It is the theme that associated with the majority of Dan Rather era as the anchor of the newscast (although 1987-1991 theme also associated with Rather's era, their usage were much short-lived than 1991 one). So, if anyone watching Dan Rather's tenure as the anchor of the program during 1991 to 2005, anyone will remember this theme. It is composed by Patterson, Walz and Fox Music Productions. Although it contains the signature melody of the 1987 theme by Trivers/Myers, all the other music is original. Fun Fact: In the first six years of Dan Rather's tenure as the anchor of CBS Evening News (1981 to 1987), CBS News adhered to a policy, imposed by then-CBS President Frank Stanton, that prohibited the use of music. To distinguish itself and demonstrate that it used original footage, CBS chose to forgo music entirely.

And from this date (but also from December 19 due to DuBois departure and holiday season) it will be reverted into single-anchor format, bringing back the format previously anchored by Norah O'Donnell and its predecessors before Dickerson-DuBois co-hosting.

CBS News under Bari Weiss eyes a major shakeup of 60 Minutes, and many of these anchors will be axed, potentially including Scott Pelley and Bill Whitaker. Weiss complained that the program "has drifted far to the left" (NY Post Exclusive). https://nypost.com/2025/10/27/media/cbs-news-boss-bari-weiss-eyes-major-shakeup-at-60-minutes-sources/

Assuming that no significant overhaul announced by the new management under Bari Weiss, such as returning of Norah or bringing on Tony Dokoupil or even external faces like Bret Baier and Anderson Copper, Maurice may eventually be the sole anchor of the program.

The set at Studio 47 appears to be permanent, see Jericka edition of CBS Weekend News on Sunday. Additionally, the ending graphics now similar to CBS Evening News one. Here's Studio 47 for Weekend News Here's previous set at Studio 57.

Sorry for late saying about the new logo and set before, but it appears that the new logo resembling the 2002 one, albeit more modern.

At the same day Tom Llamas become the anchor of NBC Nightly News and its own newscast tweak its graphics, CBS Evening News begins to implement chyron as a subtitle for all news story, specifically placing the name of the state (for domestic story) or "WORLD" (international story) above the story name at lower third graphics that filled with blue gradient. A day before at CBS Weekend News Sunday Edition, chyron also began to implemented at headline graphics, replacing the previous graphics leftover from Norah O'Donnell era.

Here's some interview from many news outlets regarding preparation of Llamas role as a new anchor of NBC Nightly News. Variety: https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/tom-llamas-nbc-nightly-news-anchor-evening-news-battle-1236415217/ Deadline: https://deadline.com/2025/06/tom-llamas-nbc-nightly-news-plans-anchor-1236413346/ USA Today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2025/06/01/nbc-nightly-news-anchor-tom-llamas-interview/83947990007/ I expect someone from ABC may doing something similar for Llamas when he takes over the role as a anchor of NBCNN tomorrow, given that he was previously worked with Disney-owned network for almost 7 years. -

The official teaser image of NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas is here. When Llamas takes over Lester's role on June 2, it will be the first time a presenter came from a college graduate (specifically Loyola University) since Brokaw, because two predecessors (Brian Williams and Lester Holt) are college dropouts and did not receive a degree, not even Brokaw's predecessor (John Chancellor). -

If they want a new studio, Studio 3K may be perfect permanent place for Tom to anchoring Nightly News, It is currently vacant since WNBC moved to newly-renovated and half-sized 3B (together with WNJU) in 2023. Studio 3K is a very large studio, and much larger than Studio 1A that Nightly currently use. Assuming that NBCU think that the new studio (even new graphics) for Tom is necessary, they could renovate that recently-vacant studio to make it more "European-feel". -

The last time Nightly News rebrand is in June 2023, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of NBC television newscast (Remember, they ditched Serif-based font in favor of NBC Tinker one to more aligned with NBC proper branding). The rebrand was happened two years before Tom takes over Lester's role permanently in June 2025. I also think that current graphics package is too futuristic but still relevant for digital audiences, which are most consumed by younger people. When Tom Llamas takes over the role 11 days from now, the current graphics package will be even more relevant, given how much younger Tom currently as a anchor (born in 1979). -
