Spring Rubber 714 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'm watching Fox Chicago simply because it's the only news on after the MLB All-Star game, and I couldn't help but notice that they're airing Bob Sirott's in-studio interview with Steve Stone in 16:9 SD. Is this a common practice for Fox Chicago? If so, are they seriously not willing to use up the storage required to record the segment in HD? That's pretty terrible.
24994J 5621 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 All of their recorded video (in-studio or not) is like that, for whatever stupid reason. Yes, it looks like crap...but it serves as an exceptional metaphor for the station as a whole!
Spring Rubber 714 Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Figures. Glad I have no reason to watch their product anymore for the rest of the year. I like your avatar, by the way.
lazynetjunkie 34 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 It's not just their recorded material.. Also much of their live shots/reports (especially in the mornings) have extremely crappy video quality.
Samantha 2898 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 KSAZ at least has a good deal of widescreen SD live reports. They were last in Phoenix to go HD, too. It's annoying to hear "in HD" at every turn, at their talent opens, etc. I think we can drop that now.
Spring Rubber 714 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 WLS just aired an I-Team report where the in-studio segment was recorded in SD. Don't stoop to that level! It looks terrible!
stevieboy247 42 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Stations that air newscasts in HD should have every live and pre-recorded report, in-studio segment, and everything else in HD. My opinion is that it's not an HD newscast if you have some SD material in it.
