ProButtonPusher 230 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It looks like their lighting needs some tweaking. The font on the supers doesn't look quite right -- I think it may be the hard shadow? It looks like they're automated, as well.
Weeters 1969 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 That's an in-house package if I ever saw one. Their radar is GRLevel3?! Lul.
kjohnson 17 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 A pet-peeve of mine: squeezing 16:9 video to a 4:3 frame when there is no reason to. KSDK in St. Louis likes to do that from time to time. Not too bad for HD. Serviceable.
qunewsguy 378 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Horrible lighting (shadows on your talent? really???), horrible camera framing, poorly cropped SD VizRT graphics... WKBW flops again.
24994J 5630 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Well, that...that's just awful! No offense to anyone, but it's broadcasts like that that give small-market news a bad name.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Horrible lighting (shadows on your talent? really???), horrible camera framing, poorly cropped SD VizRT graphics... WKBW flops again. The lighting in the Weather Center was awful. You could see the camera's image "flash" when they flipped the prompter back to text (2:02-2:04), because of how dark the shot was. You can see them cut to the Chroma Key at 6:38, also due to poor lighting. For the Main Weather Hit, it looked like they opened the iris more, which marginally helped the shot. They need to diffuse the lights more to get rid of those harsh shadows.
news89 468 Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 I was in Buffalo back in early June.. Just was watching WKBW was enough for me. WIVB was so so.. WGRZ was ok.
trev57 46 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 "broadcast meteorologist." mmmkay. To me, that means all she does is read a script and look pretty.
ThatSowislander 52 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I'm surprised WKBW still has a news department.
hopdevil 1 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 The irony of having an SD billboard (5:35) touting sponsorship of HD news was not lost on me.
