24994J 5630 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 NBC security is not letting anyone (except for WNBC people) in Studio 3C. Access to the studio is now off limits.
sfomspphl 498 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Was in a cab tonight and they had a News 4 New York promo. The music....the KNTV version of LA Groove open.
DMA 135 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 That's good, sounds better than the current package.
Weeters 1969 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 ADMIN NOTE! Â I know people are very eager to learn more about what's going on at WNBC, but constantly asking our friends from NBC if there are updates doesn't really make for a quality thread. They've been kind enough to join us and share what they know, but now that NBC has apparently cracked down on security for that studio (Which I'd guess it isn't usually standard procedure to assign a security guard to an empty studio or one with a set being built) it's understandable that we'll probably not get as many updates as we have been. Â In short, please stop asking for updates. If they have something they can share, I'm sure they'll share it. Â
AA55 40 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Well I can only speak for myself BUT with the loss of Sue Simmons, I could't give a rat's you know what.
WABCNewYork 0 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 A little off topic: Was WNBC’s newsroom located where it currently is when they were in studio 6B?
Sam Horn 78 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Well I can only speak for myself BUT with the loss of Sue Simmons, I could't give a rat's you know what. Â Could't [sic] give a rat's AA55? Â I'm here all week... Â Also, to the newsroom question, I'm pretty sure it wasn't. if memory serves the newsroom has been moved twice(?) since then. The first time to accommodate NBCNN, the second in a "temporary" fashion. I think...
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 The newsroom was on the 7th floor before 7E was built but not where it is now.
KRAP-TV 146 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Any new updates? Â (I'm kidding - I couldn't help myself...) Â :beat:
Evening Magazine 18 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 "Was in a cab tonight and they had a News 4 New York promo. The music....the KNTV version of LA Groove open." Â Pay attention to that. This has some meaning to it.
NetworkNewsEditor 3 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 New floor tiles have been laid and new monitor wall has been installed. Both are different from the original. Looks nice (to my eye, anyway).
rah6448 21 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 A monitor wall...how big? Larger screens or smaller?
rah6448 21 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I would love it if it's as big as those renders recently made....it would almost be like what 6B had goin' on....miss that big time!!
Weeters 1969 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I would love it if it's as big as those renders recently made....it would almost be like what 6B had goin' on....miss that big time!! Â The renders are to scale, but if the old set is any indication it will look smaller "in person". Â There are some camera tricks they could try to make it appear larger, but it still won't come close to the giant RP screen their old set had.
rah6448 21 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 That's true.....I think that there were four projectors that were needed for how large the RP was....perhaps the largest in set design. Have you seen McCann Systems' webpage? They were the ones that had engineered the NBC 4 6B background....and it sounds like there was a good amount of work that had went into it (more details on the PDF): Â http://www.mccannsystems.com/2010/06/wnbc-studios-new-york-new-york/
NetworkNewsEditor 3 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Floor tiles are 99 percent finished (all that's left to do is add the robotic camera 'parking' spots). Speaking of cameras, all 4 are in place. The new homebase desk is on the floor and wiring is being finalized. It does look different from the original one; less wood and more plexi on the front. The background monitor wall consists of five 103-inch screens mounted vertically, angled toward the stage at the top to reduce reflections. The spaces between the monitors are hidden with decorative silver vertical poles, and there's more plexi attached to the poles in front of all the monitors.
rah6448 21 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 So from what you are describing, I find at least the backdrop (and perhaps the desk) similar to the rendered version NY NewsWatch has on his Facebook, am I correct?
jeggleston 1 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 So the launch will most likely be on Saturday?
NetworkNewsEditor 3 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I don't work for WNBC, I'm a "Network News Editor", so I don't know anything official. I only know what I've observed of the studio by going down there and taking a look. I've read here that WNBC News will be on the air from Studio 3C on April 21.
