essentials 0
My guess is it is going to be a nervous couple of months at WFLD. Every show is unwatchable right now. Don't think anyone is safe. My guess is Robinson, Sirott, Davlantes, Chambers , Hasbrouck , Canellis, Hill , Placko are all in danger. My guess is Robinson, Sirott, Davlantes, Chambers , Hasbrouck , Canellis, Hill , Placko are all in danger. No way Darlene Hill or Dane Placko go anywhere. WFLD doesn't have many veteran reporters left, so you can't get rid of them. Kori Chambers is good, but I would move him to either Noon or weekends. He needs to do more reporting however. I would drop Lou Canellis and Dawn Hasbrouck. The biggest thing is that a ton of money is invested in people like Robinson, Sirott, Davlantes, etc...so getting rid of them is a huge financial challenge for the station. Robinson will no doubt pitch a fit if she's fired, so it would be easier to just not renew her contract. Chicago News Boy 34
Yeah i agree with jase just dont renew her contract.. Cuz shes a looney bin and would most def. throw a fit.. N put chambers on the noon news as a solo anchor get rid of canellis n hasbrouck for sure put elwood on 430-7 am and davlantes on weekends n jeffcoat as reporter Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11683-which-talent-will-schwartz-bounce-or-move-at-fox-chicago/#findComment-70597 Share on other sites
essentials 0
New lineup: 9pm - two new anchors once Sirott & Robinson are up Noon - Hasbrouk till her deal expires GDC - Elwood , Padilla , Chambers , Jeffcoat Weekends - Davlantes back with Souza Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11683-which-talent-will-schwartz-bounce-or-move-at-fox-chicago/#findComment-70598 Share on other sites
24994J 5577
My 2 Cents... 4-6am: Elwood, Padilla 6-9am: Chambers, Jeffcoat Noon: Elwood, Hasbrouck (I don't mind her) 9pm: Sirott, Robinson (until contract expiration) Weekend: Yellen, Davlantes (assume Robinson's position) Weather: Souza in the morning, Strehl on weeknights (unless Rick DiMaio would come back, then positions don't change) Sports: McPherrin and Canellis serve as equals (similar to what WMAQ formerly had with Faris and Adamle/Hawks) Firings: - Bellis (ASAP) - Robinson (at contract) - Tisha Lewis (pretty-please?) Hirings: - Meterologist (preferrably local) - Lead Male-Anchor (chemistry with Davlantes, also local...someone in Chicago's bound to be stupid enough to go to Fox) - Permanent Sports Reporter (Kerry Sayers per diem services no longer required) - 2 Reporters (see below) Miscellaneous: - Bob Sirott would be transitioned into a senior contributor role doing interviews, commentary and participation during breaking news (separated from anchoring, but keeping him in his "Chicago Tonight" comfort zone) - "Good Day Chicago" begins at 4am to compete with WGN, but the 9am hour is put out its misery (my retired father will just have to wake up earlier to get some news) - Flannery, Hill, Lum, Placko and Wall remain in their current roles - Sondra Solarte moves from traffic to morning G.A. reporter (traffic position does not get filled) - With Lewis' firing and Padilla's move to anchoring, there are two vacanies in reporting (Solarte fills one, but two/three more should be brought aboard to add depth) Of course, I don't know what the stations financial situation is, but McPherrin and Sirott's reduced (and probably cheaper) roles and Robinson's departure should free up alot of dough. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11683-which-talent-will-schwartz-bounce-or-move-at-fox-chicago/#findComment-70599 Share on other sites
Chicago News Boy 34
Like both ideas! Padilla n elwood would do great for a 4-6 cast... The only thing i disagree on is davlantes n yellen.. Those 2 dont see like a good fit. Put yellen as senior reporter and davlantes solo. Sondra solarte should be a airfox reporter. They need to quit being cheap n end the share n use their own helicopter like they used too. Oh n only one more disagreement, can canellis he is AWFUL and corey has been there much much longer he needs to go back to sports director but he should also be a fill in anchor. N i say keep tisha but use her for gdc as a newsreader like elwood use to be during the navarro/hall era Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11683-which-talent-will-schwartz-bounce-or-move-at-fox-chicago/#findComment-70602 Share on other sites

Link 3
I don't know why Fox 32 airs so much local news in the mornings when they are last place. The same strategies don't work on all Fox stations obviously. The other stations in Chicago dominate the ratings. The same strategies don't work on all Fox stations obviously. The other stations in Chicago dominate the ratings. They seem unwilling to cut those hours or yield news, weather, etc,, coverage to the other stations. I believe only the 9 AM hour is showing some signs of success (stability) in comparison to the 4:30AM-9AM slots (newscasts). Morning newscasts can be big money-makers and despite their rating woes overall, they still remain capable of bringing in revenue. With "Live" moving to ABC7, WGN may want to expand their morning news until 10...and we all know that Fox will get KILLED by them. And then what? Exactly. WXmanTim 88
A year ago, Fox 26 was in about the same situation, ratings wise. Pretty well dead last in ever time slot. Since then, ratings have grown in every daypart. Granted, our management (and Fox management overall) is only looking at A25-54 demos, but every newscast has seen growth. Mornings are up anywhere from 75% - 150% (depending on the hour) and we are regularly topping the network shows in the time period. Our 5pm has placed 2nd every ratings period since the November book and 9pm is (slowly) growing as well. Talent has been changed up a little bit: 9pm anchor Melissa Wilson was shifted to mornings, Melinda Spaulding took over at 5 & 9. Mike Barrajas wasn't renewed and they hired former NBC & CBS News correspondent Don Teague as primary anchor. But from what I understand (I've only worked there since September, about the time ratings started taking off) the biggest change was the type of stories we are covering. Instead of going "me too, me too" and chasing every fire, shooting and bank robbery, our reporters are...reporting. Enterprise reporting good stories that people are talking about. I can't tell you how gratifying it is to see one of our stories pop up two or three days later on the competition.
