Chicago News Boy 34
Wgn redid its kitchen area next to the interview area of the studio. This area in mainly used for the midday fix and some reports. The wood look was changed to a gray backdrop. It looks decent but not the greatest, it still needs a little work. 24994J 5577
That wall can change colors...don't ask me how, but they keep the wall orange during the day and sometimes change it to gray at night. Spring Rubber 703
I think the next WGN renovation will be a brand new set. Oldest set in the market, but it still looks 2000000x better than WBBM's and 920x better than WFLD's. former newsboy 52
WBBM's set looks really stupid in person (plus it's showing serious wear & tear already), but through the magic of television, looks nice enough on TV. Which is weird because before, it was sorta the opposite - I remember being disappointed with the new broadcast center watching at home. But when I saw the studio in action from outside, i thought it blew Channel 7 away. NOT ANYMORE, THAT'S FOR SURE. I also remember thinking their current configuration was temporary when it first debuted along with the anchor changes in Sept. 2010, but I was wrong. I grew to accept it as adequate, but that's not to say i wouldn't be thrilled if WBBM gutted the space and built an exact replica of WCBS' new digs. I LOVE THAT SET! Weeters 1916
If it's the area I'm thinking of, those are frosted plexiglass panels with color changing lights behind them.
