This is an interesting one; the company's CEO Stanley Hubbard seems to be interested in buying all or some of Tribune's television stations ... but only if The Price is Right. He thinks that he might have a good opportunity to make a deal once a streamlined Tribune exits bankruptcy later this year. But note, he hasn't talked to them yet though. They might not even want to sell...

So, what do you think?

Seriously. KPLR is the worse for wear after the LocalTV/Tribune LMA/SSA, or whatever it is they've got going on. I don't thing that it's likely that Tribune would sell their stations, but looking at FOX, anything is possible, especially in this continued poor economic climate.

Basically any station owned by Tribune that doesn't have a Tribune-owned newspaper circulation within the market is fair game. Here in Connecticut, Tribune owns: Fox Connecticut, WCCT-TV, The Hartford Courant, and Valu-Mail CT. I don't see Tribune selling them anytime soon.

What about KDAF/Dallas?

I would think the stations in the top 20-25 markets would be safe, possibly with the stations in the LocalTV/Tribune duopolies likely being turned over to LocalTV outright.

What about KDAF/Dallas?

God, I could only wish. KDAF could have a decent news division if its product didn't target the under-25 crowd so much. If a good owner were to come in and run the news division rightly, it could go toe-to-toe with KDFW and KXAS for 3rd/4th place, instead of being dead last all the time.
