It does look nice, the music sounds the same (360). It's interesting, the full screen graphic does not even remotely resemble anything like Look F or G, while the L3 is a modified version of their previous pack. Curious to see if they are planning on refreshing Look F a bit (across the O&O's).

Supers look a lot like the Nexstar packages Artworks did for them (most of y'all aren't acknowledging the fact that
and
were also done by Artworks in addition to Look G).

The similarities in the supers are detectable, and no, I don't see them refreshing Look F. I think is just custom for KXAS. I wonder if KXTX is still using the Telemundo standard look?

Telemundo changed its standard look along with the network rebrand and new logo late in 2012. This included new graphics and the Azurite theme from Victor Bencomo's Cacharros Musik.

I actually didn't know that. But it explains why Nexstar uses Look G so much.

Gotta admit that Nexstar does have good taste.

Those are two iterations of the same package Look T which is the old Telemundo look.

I'm aware of that. That's what I meant by the Telemundo standard look.

thanks for reaffirming that

Not that I doubt you as my memory is terrible sometimes. But, I don't recall this and, the only thing I can find is the wikipedia entry. Heck, I swore I remembered most of the nets running on backup generators then. I even remember Conan doing a few Late Night shows/segments virtually in the dark. The entry has me a bit skeptical, too. It states: "Many major U.S. networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX)...were unable to broadcast because of the lack of electricity in the New York City area, but back-up stations in Dallas and flagship transmitters there made it possible for prime-time television to be broadcast." I'm confused by this. First, why Dallas? Los Angeles is usually the primary backup to NY. Second, ABC doesn't have an O&O in Dallas. Third, FOX originates out of the FOX Network Center - LA so, not sure why they would have switched as the blackout had little impact on them. I don't even think NY serves in a primary backup role for FOX. I believe the FOX Network Center - The Woodlands provides primary disaster recovery.

WRT, NBC. They currently have Origination/MC points for there various network ops in New York, NY, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, Los Angeles & Universal City, CA and Centennial, CO. Nothing in Dallas. So, I don't expect KXAS serve in any "backup" capacity.

Not trying to be a smartass, If you have an article to read on this event I'd genuinely be interested. I'd really love to read about the how/why if true. But, I did some google seaching and came up empty.

Anyway, to the topic at hand. Am I the only one that saw Devlin Design Group? There some elements that remind me of the KMSP set that Devlin did. I would have thought they designed this based on the pictures. I was surprised they didn't. Either way it's quite nice. I'm acutually a bit more curious to see how those 2 other studios get used in the future.

You're right, I found this article that outlines how many major media outlets handled the blackout. I don't remember where I heard Dallas, but I clearly remember hearing about it and then reading it on Wikipedia a long time later. Most likely, it was probably something on this board.

"Texas connects us."

I see what they did there.

Anywho I actually like that open...aside from the fact that it's barely five seconds, hell I actually think it's only four. Had they doubled it and done something more with it, it would've been grand.

That's a good open from what essentially functions as their in-house graphics department. KXAS likes their opens short and sweet so it makes sense it's 5 seconds.

I assume KXTX's look remains the same (the standard 2012 Telemundo look and sound).

NBC doesn't force its O&Os to use any one particular graphics package anymore.

I thought it was because KXAS was partially owned by some other company whose name I forgot, and that there was also something about the other company not wanting them to have the look.

If NBC truly doesn't force it's O&O's to have a new look, then I doubt we would've seen all but KXAS use Look F.

You don't need to worry about that other company, because left that venture when they re-organized earlier this year. This was the day after Comcast bought As far as I know, I don't think they had any sort of say, in terms of graphics.
