Sickening that you would put a smiley face on a story like this.

Wishing a speedy recovery for Steve.

I wholeheartedly agree.

What does "Sinclair Hater" have anything to do with a lady who ran that reporter over? He was doing their job only to get ran over by a car. You better be lucky that he will recover after he broke his leg in three places, but this could've gotten worse. I'm shocked they didn't charge this person with attempted vehicular homicide.

I hope he gets well very soon.

The smiley face was intended as a jab at the board's Sinclair haters. It had nothing to do with the accident. I can't believe you of all people didn't get that -- I thought you were more intuitive than that.

You don't get that it was a jab at you guys? Really? I thought she might have been one of you guys and taking her rage out at one of their employees.

I realize that people in politically correct America don't know how to laugh anymore. (You people consider stiffs like "Ellen" and Saturday Night Live funny?) But lighten up.

No wonder the news is so boring these days.

What are you getting at when you say "you guys"? Again "Sinclair Hater" had nothing to do with this incident. I don't think it was appropriate to even use that smiley face, even if you thought it was not intended to be that way. I stand for what I said, agreeing with sanewsguy that it's nothing short of sickening & tasteless. You make no sense.

And I don't think that person who ran over that reporter cares too much about the parent company of the station.

LOL ... what whiny, soft, weak people we have in this country today. What, you're going to crumple up and die because I used a smiley face? OH NO, IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD! Please tell me all millennials aren't so thin-skinned!!! And what is it that jokes have to be explained to people? Are you guys really so dim that you don't understand that I was making fun of THE SINCLAIR HATERS on this board by intimating that she was a Sinclair hater and just following your lead? You do realize that you guys sound every bit as unhinged as she does, don't you?

And I'm trying to tell you that the women does not care, hell she probably doesn't know what a Sinclair is or was. So I don't know why you would use that kind of terminology. Again the women can careless what a Sinclair is or was.

And it's still not funny because someone actually gotten physically hurt. But that's how you feel. I will pray for you.

Dude, Just admit the fact you put a smiley face where there should NEVER be a smiley face at or are you going to keen going with this crap? I honestly think you are trolling right now but that is me and my opinion.

Outside of that piece of Stupidity, This thing really could of turned out really freaking bad but I'm happy he is doing well after surgery and hope he'll be back at it sooner rather then later.

But the cynic in me is also saying "It's a hell of a way to start sweeps week at WSYX."

Again. I used a smiley face where you didn't think I should have used one. I think it was perfectly appropriate. So BOO FREAKING HOO!

And you want some trolling? Here's some:

Another Sinclair hater? :)

Another Sinclair hater? :)

Nothing is more annoying than the whiny victim crowd.

And if you work in the news media, you are a perfect illustration of why nobody watches TV news anymore.

"News" by its very definition reports the oddities of life. Someone trying to run a reporter over because she doesn't like his aggressive questioning is an oddity of life. The oddities of life are typically funny. Since it's an oddity of life, it is more than fair game for a joke!!!

For that matter, you virulent Sinclair haters also qualify as an oddity. You are also fair game for a joke.

So you have one oddity (someone running a reporter over with her car) and another oddity (virulent, unhinged Sinclair haters) and a reporter she ran over who happens to work for Sinclair, and you make a joke about it ...... BECAUSE THEY ARE ODDITIES.

Do I really have to draw you a picture? Or just take a humor class somewhere maybe.

Meanwhile in Washington, this woman is apparently a Gannett hater:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrOYkppxujo

You guys still don't get it.

All humor is rooted in truth. What makes it a joke is that there really are Sinclair haters on this board (where the story was posted) and in real life and this woman attacked a representative of Sinclair.

Unless there is a similar group of Gannett haters out there, then its not really much of a joke, though I guess you could tie it back to the Sinclair haters.

Stop being childish here, You missed the damn point entirely! Why in the hell are you smiling when someone could of possibly been killed. That is absolutely nothing to smile about. Personally I couldn't care less about Sinclair in this situation. The situation is A man was nearly killed and you smiled about it. Point blank

But go on ahead and write something smartass and miss the point that someone was nearly killed here... As usual. I'm assuming you live in the Columbus Area we could meet and talk about this face to face.

I didn't really want to reply to Hanna Barbera, but I will. Because I feel that H-B Land, and to paraphrase Elisabeth Hasselbeck of all people, can defend his own insinuations. I try to stick to that philosophy as much as possible. I do agree with him most of the time, but in this instance I don't. I'll explain why:

The smiley face was intended as a jab at the board's Sinclair haters. It had nothing to do with the accident. I can't believe you of all people didn't get that -- I thought you were more intuitive than that.

I realize that. And I did get it. But I don't think it was appropriate in that context. It had nothing to do with the accident, but you referred to the lady that ran over Steve as a "Sinclair hater", which I don't think was right, in this situation. You tied it in with the accident.

You really think somebody from this board would go out and do what that person did? Sad if you think that.

I'm not politcally correct and I don't watch Ellen or SNL, nor do I find them funny.

The news can be interesting depending on what you watch.

Nobody could have said it better.

Again. I used a smiley face where you didn't think I should have used one. I think it was perfectly appropriate. So BOO FREAKING HOO!

Do I really have to draw you a picture? Or just take a humor class somewhere maybe.

Had to bold that. Doesn't always mean they're funny. In this instance, it wasn't funny. Someone could have died. What if it was you or your close relative in that situation? I'm sure you wouldn't be laughing then.

"All humor is rooted in truth". You're right about that, won't argue there. But that doesn't make it a joke due to the circumstances of the situation. There are circumstances where it would be funny (ex: person boycotts a station because Sinclair bought them) but not in this situation, where someone's life is affected.

And you miss the point here. The smiley face has NOTHING to do with the reporter getting run over. It is just a jab at all the Sinclair haters on this board. I can't help it that you guys aren't creative enough to get jokes, but that's what it was, a joke. Jokes are okay. Really, it's okay to laugh.

You're right it doesn't. But the reason it's wrong is because you tied the reference in with the situation. There's people who hate Sinclair and people who like Sinclair. Nothing wrong with that. But in this type of situation a station's ownership is trivial. It's not important, the victim's life is more important than whoever owns the station.

"Jokes are okay. Really, it's okay to laugh."

Uh, not when this reporter nearly lost his life because some idiot chose to run over him.

I'm done. Hanna-Barbera Land can defend his own insinuations.

First of all, I am horrified by this story. It's easy to forget that reporters can easily place themselves in harm's way to cover a story, even when their life isn't in mortal danger. I pray that Steve Levine has a speedy recovery and is back on his feet in no time.

Secondly, the woman in custody for hitting Mr. Levine is simply a nutcase with no regard for human life. I doubt that she'd give one iota of care into ABC6, S!nclair or any of their shell companies. She just saw a living, breathing human being as nothing more than a literal speedbump. I hope whatever judge takes up this case throws the book at her.

And lastly, H-B Land's behavior on this thread is more concern-trollish than ever before. I have no want to dignify his cheapening of human life with any sort of a valid response.

I'm missing no damn points here. You f-ed up and made a joke where there should never been a joke at all. If you are blind to see that then god help ya. Also, my offer is still on the table, A face to face meet up.

And you guys remind me of people who run around getting offended at everything all the time. Don Imus said something racist ... boo hoo! The Redskins are offensive ... boo hoo! Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut ... boo hoo! Someone made a joke about an off the wall situation ... boo hoo!

I guess you also ran to mommy crying after someone told you a Challenger joke. (What were Christa McAullife's last words just before the Challenger exploded? "What's this button for?")

The people I know make fun of things all the time. We laugh, we play around, we have fun. Judging from some of these comments, having a beer with most of you people would be about as fun attending a poetry reading. Lighten up!

The professional victim class is alive and well on message boards!

No, You just prove a point for me here that I stated very early on.

You ignore and blame everybody else for your mistake and get mad at everyone else for calling you out on your mistake. A simple and EARNEST sorry would of ended this crap long ago but you don't want to man up. Don't even bring politics into it because It has not a thing to do with this conversation. My position hasn't changed when yours has changed several times.

Listen, Let me sum it up for you, HB Land, You're being an ass. Your "So-Called joke" fell so damn flat that It for the most part made you look like a complete ass. Let me say it like this, your "So-Called" comedic time SUCKS! The defense of it is making you look like more of an ass. And ignoring those two (or three) things has made you like an utter ass in this situation.

It comes down to tone, You wanted a funny tone for something that wasn't really funny at all. It wasn't the tone need at all. Just like that reported in Philly that wrote that "breaking bad" tweet That was mocked at. The wrong tone leads to problems.

Keep on digging. You are well on your way to your own personal hole so deep you can't dig out of it. I wasn't giving the shovel, You just took it with glee and said "Stand back I'm digging here!" So I won't stop you just be aware of that.

So back on the MAIN topic of The reporter,

Currently he doing well at the hospital and well on the way to being out soon. Yesterday the WSYX team visited him and he was in good spirits.

I'll post a video from them in a sec.

EDIT: Here's the video Thanking all the viewers who have sent him well wishes while he was in the hospital. He should be out by Monday

Is anyone else wondering if it was a good idea for this crew to try and "catch the thief" red handed by setting up a trap and confronting them? I mean it's good if you get him committing the act and fleeing on camera but what if you get him committing the act on camera... and he no likey? Which is what happened here... Good thing he only suffered a broken leg.

Yeah, Weeters? Um, can you please lock up this thread??!! Thank You!!!

As for you Hanna-Barbera Land, You can consider yourself humiliated, and you have no one to blame other than yourself. Face the facts, when you come up with a useless joke just to be funny, hip, or cool, You're not. Instead, you're being ignorant and making a complete fool out of yourself in the process.

And in regards to what ColumbusNewsFan said, I think you already dug yourself a hole, one that you'll most likely never get out of. Congratulations.
