PTVNews 197 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm noticing that KATU is covering the SOTU on their own tonight, not showing ABC network coverage. I wonder if this is a Sinclair thing? Are there other stations that do this and do you know why? I don't really see a benefit of doing so.
RGSJenkins 435 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 The "News 12" Networks and NY1 are covering the speech.
johnnya2k6 171 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Here in Atlanta, there was wall-to-wall snowstorm coverage, preempting regular programming on WSB (who were on the air for NINE HOURS STRAIGHT!!!), WAGA, WXIA (moving Ellen DeGeneres, Dr. Phil, Nightly News, Jeopardy, and Biggest Loser to sister station WATL), and WGCL. Thankfully though, they all took a break for the SOTU address before immediately picking up where they left off. This sort of reminds me of the 1996 Mat-Su Valley wildfire in Alaska; KTUU at one point had to delay an NBA Finals game for extended coverage.
Nelson R. 569 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 WCNC bumped The Biggest Loser to 3 am to air weather coverage, then moved the weather coverage to 36.2 from 9-10. And WBTV preempted Queen Latifah for a special 3:00 news.
