KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I came across this video from CFRN-TV in Edmonton on YouTube and it was recorded back in 1984. The Skate Canada promo seen at the beginning features some music that sounds Frank Gari-esque. Anyone willing to chime in?
Info Junkie 1286 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 A few months ago a January 2001 WBTV newscast popped up using “Right Here, Right Now”, long before KFMB debuted it (they still had “Impact” as late as July): From what I’m guessing, possibly WBTV commissioned RHRN instead of KFMB. 7
channel2 982 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I think KFMB commissioned the image, if not the news too - it's possible that 615 was syndicating it before KFMB started using it. 3

SoFloTVClassics 1003 Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) http://www.southernmedia-nmsa.com/#3,1,1793 WKCF 1991-1998 theme has been renamed Production Music: Newscast A. By Sonoton. http://www.sonoton.com/ Edited October 1, 2018 by Guest 1
Samantha 2901 Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Yup, found that while digging through libraries... Sonoton is a new library to the NMSA, I believe. It is a European library, so it wouldn't have seen so much use stateside. (Other notable Euro libraries include DeWolfe and Music House.) It's not a theme, but the stings that KSAT used in its famous last names open are also in this library as "Mega Cut A7". "Mega Cut A1" was used as the headline bed at the end of the open. I can't find the swoosh. They even used Newscast A for the close: Edited October 1, 2018 by Ramona

Israel Gallegos 0 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) What Is The Music That KSWO Used In One Of Their Commercials For Their News In The 1980's. Edited October 4, 2018 by Guest
Info Junkie 1286 Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Someone commented on my KATU news open video and said the news theme shown here was also used on Channel in the UK back in the 1970s. I sense this is production music. 1
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) That would be me who commented. Compare the melody in the KATU theme with this ident's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=aTa3-a5YTRE;t=20 They're a dead-on match to my ears. I have a weird sense it might be DeWolfe...? ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) Double post, but I already found it thanks to a tip on the Channel video I'd overlooked. It appears to be a KPM track, Superstar Fanfare (or just Superstar depending on the version). Oddly enough, while the logo sounds right, I couldn't seem to find the version KATU seems to have used. I did, however, find one that ... Edited October 22, 2018 by Guest 2
RetroCirq 148 Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 I know its not a news open, but is it me or the WXXA promo jingle sounds more like an Otis Connor track? 1
Samantha 2901 Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 I hadn't heard the long version...yeah, there's a real Conner feel to it.
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 The singers give me a very Dallas-esque vibe, almost like a JAM piece - which I suppose could be another point for Conner as well.
onthesea 292 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 (edited) Anyone knows if this theme used by CBS afilliates on their IDs back in the early 1990s (see 7:47-7:51) was exclusively used on the IDs or was an instrumental version of a specific network campaign? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Jukf_uTWbNo;t=467 Edited October 25, 2018 by Guest 5
onthesea 292 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Anyone knows who composed these Bloomberg themes? 1
KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Does anyone know who composed this theme? 1
Info Junkie 1286 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 @AJClementeFan69 and @Ramona confirmed in another thread that WFLD 1994 is a Crane production. Looks like the NMSA needs another music name change... How long does it take the NMSA to identify anything, anyway?
AJClementeFan69 477 Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Anyone know if this is a cut of Total News by Cue11 or a different pack (potentially also by them)? A really sexy open regardless. 2
Samantha 2901 Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 That is definitely the Cue11 Total News — though I never knew they had used it prior to changing logos. The music bed is from that package and is closer to the use KAPP/KVEW gave it. 2
Info Junkie 1286 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Since we just discovered KETV using KSNW’s 1985 theme, I’m gonna guess it’s a VTS or Tuesday track. Though it could be production music as well... 1

WestleyWolf 122 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 (edited) I'm Pretty sure this was posted before but it doesn't say who the artists is, just says soundtrack. they call it "The Visionary" 2nd video at 1:19. does anyone know who it is? Edited January 8, 2019 by Darius22
Samantha 2901 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 That is from the AirCraft library, which the NMSA for some reason cites as Soundtrack. The AirCraft site also has the long cuts of the pieces from them. The Visionary is on CD ACL-032 "Image Makers II". Other common tracks from this library are on ACL-011 "Image Makers", like The Leading Edge, News Breakers and Always a New Horizon. ACL-040 has some political tracks that got used and have NMSA entries, and there are a couple of other 90s tracks I think saw some use in sports. 2
