A3N 1002
The NBC O&O's have quietly started to debut updated news apps. The app is completely redesigned with a cleaner, easier to navigate interface. This updated app is tailored to mobile devices, as the previous version was more of an app version of the NBC O&O websites. While the previous version worked well, it was hard to navigate at times, and many of the links would not work properly so this is a much needed update. Pics below: One interesting thing I noticed on KNSD's app is that they have three different 7's in use! The different 7's appear on the app icon, the splash page and the left menu button. Don't know if this means and updated logo/graphics for KNSD, but interesting nonetheless. JoseRM303 171
I have the NBC NY, NBC LA, NBC CT & NBC Miami apps and they all still have the old look. Even went to the app store and no sign of them needing an update. Wonder if it's slowly being rolled out? App icon is a white-contrast friendly logo, left screen icon is a badly-cropped logo in Photoshop (prolly because of iOS logo limitations, who knows) and the splash page logo is basically a different rendering of the current logo but it's still the same KNSD. Doesn't seem like this station is gonna get a new GFX package just yet. A3N 1002
The app logo's 7 is thinner and longer on the top portion. The second logo has actually been used on air during the Olympic countdown graphic and whenever they add the olympic rings to the bug. The splash page is the only thing that they got right, although that did carry over from the previous version of the app. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14055-nbc-oos-get-updated-news-apps/#findComment-119219 Share on other sites
24994J 5577
It appears that all 10 stations have rolled out the new app, though KNBC is the only station using their old app icon (at least on iTunes). It should also be noted that WVIT's app uses a different logo, one more reminiscent of the block makeover of 2011... ToriElectra 292
Seems more like an attempt to compete with WTIC's "Fox CT" branding. They've branded as that since they moved in with the Hartford Courant back in 09. (It's supposed to be pronounced as "Fox Connecticut", like WTXF in the mid-90s, with their "Fox Philadelphia" branding.) Jess 1115
The main splash screen, which is new, still has the main NBC Connecticut logo. I'm assuming this new logo is made for app purposes - NBC Connecticut can get really hard to read.
