LOWERCASE GUY 266
Looks like they aren't wasting time getting the new graphics into the Former Drewry Stations. KSWO just made a promo with the Raycom graphics. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/7/#findComment-141322 Share on other sites
NewsMaster 226
Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a new ownership group get new graphics on their new stations this quickly (at least guessing by this promo I'm assuming that they'll get the look very soon). In comparison, NONE of the former Journal stations have the Scripps graphics nearly one full year after that sale was completed. In fairness, the last decent logo KAUZ had was the mid-2000s WEWS/WKMG amalgamation they had a few years back. That was during their Hoak days. Some of its former sister stations had similar WEWS-like logos (KREX, KFBB, etc.) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/7/#findComment-141324 Share on other sites

Funny you mention that, KGUN and KMTV use the Scripps Graphics on Weather ONLY! The L3's, etc. are still Journal. Can you say MAJOR Clash??? In comparison, NONE of the former Journal stations have the Scripps graphics nearly one full year after that sale was completed. I think it only took less than three months after the sale, for WVTM to change to the Hearst graphics. And the G3 rollout of the Belo stations started 6 months after that sale was completed (nearly two years ago (12/23/13)). That was during their Hoak days. Some of its former sister stations had similar WEWS-like logos (KREX, KFBB, etc.) KFBB was a Max station when they went with that logo. NWA_TV_guy 156
WCSC has the new graphics. The logo's unchanged. I see they're not going with the new bug layout that matches the lower-thirds. It looks so odd. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/7/#findComment-142221 Share on other sites

Back to the old graphics. Maybe they're testing the new ones out on the noon newscast today. RGSJenkins 435
WCSC has the new graphics. The logo's unchanged. Even the weather graphics was changed for the Noon. tw-804 192
Even the weather graphics was changed for the Noon. They reverted back to older graphics for the rest of the day. TennTV1983 804
And what about Drewry's stations? When are they getting the new graphics and getting into NewsOn? As soon as the new servers and systems are up and running at those stations to carry their graphics and streaming services, which could be a while. Not sure how Drewry's tech infrastructure is, but if Raycom has to build them all up from scratch, it could take months. tw-804 192
WSFA 12 in Montgomery now has the new graphics and the slogan Live. Local. Now. Inergy's still used, but since last year the station used another Stephen Arnold theme, The Rock, for bumpers on the afternoon and evening newscasts. Meanwhile on The News at Nine on WSFA-DT2/WDFX (video below), Killer Tracks' Nightly Report was dropped for both Inergy and The Rock. NWA_TV_guy 156
Raycom Media and WDAM-TV held a dedication ceremony today for a complete campus renovation and a new 5,700 sq. ft. addition to the station with a new lobby, sales department and marketing department. You may think this is not worthy of being posted on here, but any of you who know anything about WDAM or have seen the station in person will understand the excitement in this news. The last main project at the station was the new newsroom built in the early-2000s and the HD conversion in 2012. The overall building was extremely small and the sales offices were not completely apart of the main campus. Laurel and Hattiesburg had their own sales office. The station is not in either city, but is in the unincorporated community of Eastabuchie/Moselle on US Hwy. 11 along the Forrest/Jones County line in Mississippi. Raycom acquired WDAM in 1997. tyrannical bastard 3962
I could see the logic in having sales offices in either of the major cities in the Hattiesburg/Laurel DMA given the somewhat remote location of Moselle from either city. Usually account executives have to run up mileage on their cars on sales calls, sometimes without reimbursement, and working on straight commission. Some places are lucky to have pooled commission, but it depends on the station and company that runs the station, since it's not a normal hourly/salaried position like most other TV jobs... NWA_TV_guy 156
WTOC has traded in their anchor desk duratran background for a video wall just like WLBT did. Looks like it has been done for some time now (not sure if this has been covered in any of the threads). This may be a common thing now with the stations that have that version of FX cookie cutter set. NEOMatrix 1302
So in other words, anything that looks similar to WBTV's new set will get a video wall. NWA_TV_guy 156
So in other words, anything that looks similar to WBTV's new set will get a video wall. No -- stations with the set pictured below are getting the video wall. These sets are now 3-6 years old with WIS having the first and oldest of this "cookie cutter" set. Stations such as WBTV, WWBT, WVUE and WAFB who received the newest set did not have the set pictured above. There are still several (including Drewry stations) who have not received a new set and will probably get the below: Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/7/#findComment-144961 Share on other sites

It seems to be a hybrid between the regular Scripps graphics and the old Raycom graphics they used to use. https://livestream.com/news/WFLX http://www.wflx.com/clip/12244314/bob-saget-on-fox-29-morning-news Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/7/#findComment-147386 Share on other sites

Its shell American Spirit will acquire Fox station KVHP from National Communications. KVHP just debuted an in-house 9 p.m. newscast (again) a couple weeks ago. Guessing it'll be short-lived now, replaced by a KPLC-produced newscast at 9 p.m. Those are the only 2 commercial TV stations in the Lake Charles market, so Raycom essentially gets a monopoly. That's more likely gonna happen + that's true. If you counted Lafayette and Beaumont TV stations, then of course you have other stations and owners. Don't be surprised if within the next couple of weeks or months, that becomes "7 News at 9:00 on FOX 29" alongside a brand new morning newscast after 7:00am.
