William1111 41 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 WBOC-TV, the CBS/Fox affiliate in the Salisbury, Maryland market was recently the victim of a cyber attack, their website and Twitter page was modified with ISIS propaganda, by a group known as "CyberCaliphate", the same group that also compromised the US Central Command's Twitter account. This isn't technically a "hack" since they didn't get into their servers. http://www.wboc.com/story/27773584/wboccom-wboc-twitter-page-hit Thoughts?
rkolsen 1686 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 They must be one of the stations that shares their login and password with everyone. They should use HootSuite or a similar service where the station has an account but can give reporters the ability to post through a second account. Using this method keeps a sense of security where only those who need to can actually change the account settings. Plus HootSuite allows the station to send out one message to multiple sites like Facebook.
Samantha 2902 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 That was some time back (a week or two) — notably the CyberCaliphate then went on to do something similar to CENTCOM.
jbnews 345 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Wow! Speechless. I wonder which station will be next. Why did they pick this one first?
