Samantha 2895
Gray Television has bought KOSA from Investment Corporation of America for $33.6 million. The all-cash deal will give KOSA a much larger owner and gives Gray another market-leading CBS affiliate in Texas. It is expected to close in the 3rd quarter of 2015. ABC 7 Denver 1715
Good! Hopefully some investment will be made in this property! They really need it. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14417-gray-buys-kosa-for-336m/#findComment-128608 Share on other sites
TheRolyPoly 2418
Gray buying KOSA? It's about time. Finally, a worthy owner to improve the quality of a West Texas station. First, WAGM and then KOSA. Good for Gray! Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14417-gray-buys-kosa-for-336m/#findComment-128610 Share on other sites

I myself wonder if Gray will reconsider the studio location. Right now KOSA takes up part of a wing of the Music City Mall in Odessa (that's right, a full-blown TV station in a shopping mall!). effseesee 101
It seems lately that Gray's business model is to purchase every table scrap left after Sinclair and Nexstar feasted on the bird. There seem to be a lot of small local owners that are selling to Gray of late. They are an attractive owner for certain local owners that realize they can no longer compete effectively with the scale demands of local TV. tyrannical bastard 3951
...and Gray is paying cash for many of these acquisitions. In KOSA's case, if they were trouncing KMID before, Nexstar better step up their game... NewsMaster 226
This deal makes sense for Gray. Coincidentally, KOSA was once owned by Benedek, so this will reunite KOSA with most of its former sister stations when it was owned by that company. Looks as if it's the end of the road for the so-called CBS 2002 Affiliate Package. jk Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14417-gray-buys-kosa-for-336m/#findComment-128627 Share on other sites

It is the last station license held by Hoak since their sale of most of their stations to Gray. It is the last station license held by Hoak since their sale of most of their stations to Gray. It a huge opportunity of KOSA-TV, so that's very good news for them. Off the record on the other two stations, do you picture KMID and KAUZ a Gannett/Tegna station? Off the record on the other two stations, do you picture KMID and KAUZ a Gannett/Tegna station? The more likely event would be Tegna buying Drewry, which includes KSWO and KWES, as well as KFDA (Amarillo) and KXXV/KRHD (Bryan/College Station, sale would be required). Drewry almost sold to London in 2008. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14417-gray-buys-kosa-for-336m/#findComment-128635 Share on other sites
CircleSeven 1955
Wait, what did I say last year?? Why don't Gray go ahead and buy KOSA already. They'll finally bring the proper infrastructure into the station. I can't believe it's finally coming to fruition. tyrannical bastard 3951
Many of Benedek's castoffs could be potential Gray targets, especially the ones that are now mired in JSAs like WYTV and KDLH. With Gray's size and the markets they are going after, paying cash isn't a problem and the market sizes are miniscule to ownership cap concerns. Big Country News 435
It says that KOSA is the highest rated in Midland/Odessa. That's funny because it's equally as dreadful to watch as KMID. Big Country News 435
KOSA will debut a Gray Graphics package soon. They're running promos with them.
