WXmanTim 88
Tvspy quotes the release as saying the Bismark DMA is one of the fastest growing, climbing to 139 from 160 just a decade ago. Yes. Because of the Bakken oil boom. Once that's depleted, or it becomes no longer economical to drill, Bismark goes back to zeros-ville. Yes. Because of the Bakken oil boom. Once that's depleted, or it becomes no longer economical to drill, Bismark goes back to zeros-ville. Given recent trends in crude oil prices, that might be now. Samantha 2895
A bit on the sale of the KX stations... The most impressive thing in that piece is that the KX system produced 171 consecutive hours of news coverage during flooding in 2011. An "industry expert" also mentions that there is now just one other CBS affiliate in the country under local ownership. That's actually incorrect; the largest by far is KFMB, but WCAX, WRAL and WBOC would also qualify as locally-owned stations, and KTVA and KBNZ are among the class of stations owned by local companies. If he was an "industry expert," then he would've know this by now. WINK is another one, owned by the Ft. Myers Broadcasting Company (a.k.a., The McBride Family) Just thought of another one: WBNS-10TV in Columbus, started by The Dispatch Broadcasting Company (a.k.a. The Wolfe Family). CircleSeven 1955
The FCC has greenlighted the Nexstar/Reiten sale this morning. This grant was in condition that it had to terminate its existing JSA with KBMY/KMCY. This grant was in condition that it had to terminate its existing JSA with KBMY/KMCY. Will that JSA be replaced by an SSA? TheRolyPoly 2418
In other words, that tells me nothing. Just by reading that, it seems like no SSA is coming for the stations, even though I feel like one is coming in a SSA. Viper550 291
Those stations are essentially semi-semi sattelites of WDAY. They could easily just handle sales out of Fargo or make a little office.
