I don't know when this happened, but we have another rebrand, y'all...this time it's WBNG in Binghamton, New York. The Quincy Media-owned station now has a new logo and new graphics. Lonnie Perkins is now replaced by a female voiceover. Stephen Arnold Music's Locals Only is out and Guardian is in. Also, the branding is now 12 News after decades of using Action News. Yet, their website is still in the Granite-era design.

EDIT (8:05pm/ET): Just learned (via their Facebook page) that it happened last week. And it looks like they have a new set as well.

Surprised they didn't use the 360 theme tune, since some other Quincy stations have switched to it recently.

But absolutely not impressed that the longtime Action News brand is gone; and its new uninspired logo from the big 12.

its new uninspired logo

Compared to some of the other new logos we've seen this month? This one is simple, clean, and effective. It works well.

Agreed. This logo is actually better than WEWS' new logo and WFXT's stuck-up logo. Quincy, as bad they probably are in new logos, actually did a good one and though WBNG got rid of their previously logo, this is still tons better than other awful logos from around the country.

Not bad at all, and a lot better than what certain stations in larger markets have been giving us, as has been said.

But...

RIP Action News ~1969-2016.

This is a problem with these new logos today, as I've said it years ago. It's made cheap, uninspired and lacks of creativity, originality, and distinctiveness; in other words, no "oomph" & no "stank".

For a station that has been on top for decades, it deserves better than this.....

I can only imagine what WKBW would be going through now if they were sold with the rest of Granite instead of being offloaded to Scripps.

But of course, ANYTHING would have been an improvement over their years of suffering and misery...
