Eat News 4745 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Univision to Hub WX out of Houston..... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2017/05/05/univision-to-launch-national-weather-service.html?ana=twt
rkolsen 1692 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Very interesting. It's a shame that the article doesn't go into specifics whether it will handle all weather forecasts for all stations or smaller ones.
Jess 1116 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 WUVP's weather comes out of Miami already, so I wouldn't be surprised if this affects all stations.
TSSZNews 1052 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 You misspelled "Sinclair"-- Joking aside, when the article says "all of the company’s stations, network, radio and digital properties in the U.S." I believe them. And only seven staffers. Oof. Though when NBC bought the Weather Channel, there was a huge fear they too would centralize weather output and it never materialized. So who knows?
A3N 1002 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Entravision does regional news/weather for a majority of their stations (larger market station will produce a regional newscast encompassing several markets--the smaller market stations retain a few employees to cover their respective markets). Don't be surprised if Univision follows this model.
