New set for KTVU

SFTV

The surfboard (yes, it's actually a surfboard) desk is pretty much in the same spot as the

from the late 1990s. Interested to see what they'll build up there—it's a large open office area that used to house KTVU's sales and other non-news clerical staff before they were mostly laid off after the 21st Century Fox acquisition. They were only using a small part of the available space for this set.

Huh, I didn't know there was a multicamera newsroom set there at one point. The reason why this temporary setup isn't in the same location is that the single anchor flash set is likely still there. The desk is never really seen (and this setup isn't really used at all anymore) but it matches the 2012 studio set. You can see it here in this photo after they completely redid the newsroom, but before they redid part of it again to add the conference room, a more functional assignment desk, and transmission.

The large newsroom set went away when it and the old Mornings on 2 studio was turned into additional newsroom space in 2004, I think. Crazy to think how small the newsroom was before that expansion happened, but they were only really doing the morning show, noon and 10:00pm in those days.

Wait that's the new set??

They're redoing "The Nine" set which was a converted sales office upstairs to make way for the set.

It was basically a surfboard as a top for the desk.

The Nine set then became the 8am, The Nine, and Noon set.....The Four and 7pm set went back and forth between studios depending on the sunset since the glare was a bit bad in the afternoons and evenings.
