  1. KPIX also dropped their 5am newscast for sometime. they now broadcast at 6am then 7am on KPIX+ 8am was also dropped and shows a replay of the 7am, recently found out during daylight savings when wondering why it’s still dark outside behind the anchors when it’s sunny outside instead of saying “previously recorded” like you see on the stream, they cover the timestamp with a grey box
  2. Looks like the set we were speculating for is dead. Juliette Goodrich posted on her Instagram Story they were prepping for the election night rehearsals from the virtual studio, I noticed something was off and it was more bigger than the first Virtual studio. looks like they built a secondary virtual studio but more bigger. You can see the portion of the old temporary set which was the existing previous set that was used when they were in transitioning before full chroma key newscasts. The newsroom set is now only used for weekend mornings and Noon RPReplay_Final1729744848.mov
  3. The more I keep watching KRON, the graphics are simplistic and colorful which is taking me back to KTLA in 1997 when it had the Linda Kane Design look prior to the 2004 refresh with “Prime News”
  4. KRON debuted new graphics (seen on the graphics section) and farewell to Aerial. Stephen Arnold remixed KRON Instant Classics from Michael Boyd and brought back the brand back to the Bay Area
  5. All those hours of news, it better be covering every city and county
  6. Beloved KGO ABC7 Mornings Anchor Kumasi Aaron announced that she is leaving and headed back home to Florida to be closer to family after losing her father which has been a challenge being away. Her last day is this Friday. She will definitely be missed. The chemistry between her and Reggie Aqui can’t be replaced.
  7. So is WBFS/WFOR the only duopoly to keep CW in the group?
  8. She posted on Facebook she is on medical leave and receiving treatment.
  9. KPIX will soon be shifting all their evening shows away from the studio onto the Virtual Set https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-stohzPWVx/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  10. The Virtual Weather Studio got a redesign with a brown wooden tone look similar to its CBS News 24/7 10am stream The previous look was more of a vacant office floor
  11. KSWB’s Kathleen Bade final broadcast is tonight
  12. Didn’t want to make a new thread unless it’s official, KPIX this week has been using the “morning/sports” set on the other side of the studio for all of its newscasts except for its Noon newscast which is done in the newsroom. not sure if they are doing studio maintenance or possible speculation of getting KCAL’d with the new mandate set. the shots are so tight so I’m not sure if they moved the “set” next door where the virtual weather set is currently located. mind you, PIX never got the whole makeover mandate look. In 2020 they refreshed its 2012 look by getting the 2016 KCBS anchor desk, updated the duratrans walls, got rid of the traffic center in place of a couch set that never got much airtime which was converted into a secondary set now used in the mornings and sports. They kept the framing from its 2012 Jack Morton design look based from WBBM’s 2008 street side studio. I guess we will see……
  13. That’s what I’m saying! It worked with KNSD because the green screen literally covered half the weather center when it was not visible in shots. Once in a while they would forget and you would see it in closing shots WBBM is twice bigger than what KNSD had when they had a street side studio. The cameras were literally in front of the desk and you would have to duck under to get to the weather center.
  14. Kathleen Bade announced she is leaving KSWB after 16 years which she helped relaunched its newscasts when KSWB became a FOX affiliate after its affiliation switch from CW. prior to KSWB she was at KFMB and KSAZ in a total of 30 years in the industry. her last day will be July 31st.
  15. Julie Haener signs off after 27 years at KTVU
  16. I couldn’t agree more. KGO should’ve kept the larger studio and gave KRON the smaller studio. But they must’ve wanted to lease out the bigger studio to KRON to cash in the rent. https://bowmanrodgersdesign.com/portfolio/kgo-tv-7-live/ so nice to see the old nostalgia of 7Live Studio before it was dismantled to make room for KRON.
  17. KUSI is currently going thru a major overhaul now that they are merging with FOX5. They have been on a temporary set since January using FOX5’s old desk used from 2014-2018.
  18. Yep I called it! The wooden studs in the wall totally gave it away.
  19. Just saw the Instagram Reel. The framing elements is giving KCAL.
  20. I’m going to miss the “California Look.” KABC was polished and bright, KFSN got the discount look since the font styles never matched, then later adopted the KGO “LIVE” bug by making it bigger than KABC’s version. KGO had the best color execution keeping it neutral (Royal Blue, Grey and Black) it was simple package that I wished that rolled out to the station group, it was pretty much nothing extravagant, easy to read and just a plain wallpaper with diagonal lines that would revolve looking like a cash register belt, no flashy animations and sweeping effects that we see now with all these boxes and large lower thirds that they adapted from WPVI and WABC. the weather graphics varied with KABC, KGO and KFSN, they could’ve done better but I do like the new weather graphics now that they are using.
  21. SAM RUBIN AW MAN! https://www.tmz.com/2024/05/10/sam-rubin-ktla-entertainment-reporter-dead-dies-heart-attack/
  22. THIS!!! I remember randomly discovering this site and it felt like a safe space and knowing that there are so many people around the country and world who geek and nerd out on TV news. This site continues to Thrive and Grow!
  23. Loving the Palm Trees! Normally used to trees if it’s for windy forecasts. Very unique and local.
