  1. The 11pm newscast on KPIX now says “The Late News.” On my DVR. I’m guessing they are doing the same thing for Stephen Colbert
  2. That desk was the old newsroom desk when it debuted back in 1997 from Devlin Design Group. It’s refreshed from brown to a grey tone and they added lighting to the desk.
  3. Right? My DVR has the new branding. I was hoping a custom morning open and updated bug, yet they’re still using the KPIX 5 Bug. When they had a 10pm newscast pre pandemic, they at least had the KBCW bug instead. The only mention of CBS NEWS Bay Area Branding is only on the 6 and 7pm with the custom open “CBS NEWS Bay Area with Juliette Goodrich” but the DVR still says KPIX 5 News at 6pm
  4. KPIX finally launched a new morning show on KBCW called CBS NEWS Bay Area: Morning Edition. The newscast is mostly News driven and not like it’s sister station KOVR/KMAX with the “Good Day” format. Prior to the launch, they have been only simulcasting KPIX from 5-7am then straight to Paid Programming. As of this week they dropped the 5am hour simulcast for syndication programming. 6am is still a simulcast KPIX 5 NEWS at 6am. 7-9am is CBS NEWS Bay Area: Morning Edition. With KTVU and KRON dominating the mornings. Hopefully KBCW will at least get some viewership.
  5. KFMB can do some minor tweaks here and there. They have the cheap KCNC look. The Tegna Graphics sure don’t match with the studio. KGTV seriously needs a makeover and new flooring. KUSI is a lost cause. Their FB past and present employees group page already has been begging for a new set and new roof since it leaks near the desk when it rains.
  6. KPIX slowly debuted the new look on the monitor wall and some Lower thirds Juliette Goodrich doing a standup for the 6pm tease “CBS NEWS BAY AREA with Juliette Goodrich.” im kinda impressed with the NEW B-Roll shots they are using of the SF skyline and the SF Bay with the Golden Gate Bridge from afar.
  7. I’m surprised they didn’t have a custom engraved KCAL logo for the desk and use a plain metal sheet instead to cover the CBS2 logo or at least upgrade the anchor desk to a monitor screen like WCBS and KPIX has. Then again KCBS was the first to debut this look so everything is still original.
  8. KNTV just announced their line up 12pm NBC NEWS Daily 1pm Access Daily with Mario & Kit 2pm The Rachel Ray Show 3pm The Kelly Clarkson Show 4pm NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt 4:30pm NBC Bay Area News at 4:30 5-6:30pm NBC Bay Area News 6:30pm NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt 7pm NBC Bay Area News Tonight
  9. Not sure if I’m going to like these solo anchor shows at 3, 6, 7 and 11pm they really need to hire another weather person. 3 main full time personal isn’t enough especially if one is out on vacation or sick. the weekend weather anchor already has to do double duty 6 and 7am then 5, 6 and 11pm
  10. Natasha Zouves formerly of KGO and KGTV joins NewsNation https://www.instagram.com/p/ChpqMqWOx9t/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  11. I’m wondering what will happen to KBCW (CBS O&O) and Nexstar’s KRON (MyNetwork Affiliate) unless KTVU Plus takes the MyNetwork affiliation.

    In Memoriam

Former KTVU anchor Leslie Griffith has passed away. https://www.ktvu.com/news/longtime-ktvu-anchor-and-reporter-leslie-griffith-dies?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR3831V48LPaLGnrHuRJfrY48BXOL1I8sCNa10iELSuPyQsWHnn15DbL2Zk&fs=e&s=cl
  13. I knew it would be taped!! Darren’s weather hit did show some poor quality when they ran the tape on its KBCW show. so how would this work if it’s breaking news?
  14. This is the same as KBCW! Looks like it’s produced by KTXA. Local cut in with the first 2 top stories, a weather hit then back to Dallas. 10:30 local cut in and weather hit and back to Dallas.
  15. NEXT should’ve been an alternate branding with markets that use “First Alert” in other competing stations like WTVJ and KNBC.
  16. I wonder how KSTW in Seattle will be running it’s operation, their Master Control is at KPIX. Will it be in house or will they rely on KPIX to produce its newscast since they already produce weather forecasts on its CW11 website with the old 2010 O&O Glossy Eye graphics package and “Inside Sports.” with KBCW’s Nightbeat graphics package
  17. THIS!! KPIX needs to hire more staff and ramp up KBCW again. Why don’t you just cut the KPIX 5 News 6am simulcast off in place of gospel programming that currently airs at 7am. Then this is when you take advantage and air CBS BAY AREA NEWS at 7am that you just launched yesterday that’s only available online and on PlutoTV in that 7am time slot. 10pm is when you bring back an evening newscast since you cancelled Bay Area Nightbeat. However KRON and KTVU have been dominating Mornings and the 10pm slot. It would be hard to try and enter the competition race.
  18. My bad didn’t know KTLA had a full hour at 3pm I thought it was online streaming and I thought KDOC was a full hour per it’s tv listings on its site.
  19. So much News on every channel in LA except from 2-3pm, 3:30-4pm, and 11:35pm - 4am More car chases to come…. 4am - 2pm News Hour Break from 2 - 3pm 3 - 3:30pm News (:30 min break) 4 - 11:35pm News
  20. Next. It’s a no for me. It’s as bad as when KTLA used “MetroVision Weather” back in 2006
  21. Spoke too soon Starting this Monday. KPIX will be launching an hour long 7am online newscast on CBS NEWS BAY AREA. one of the anchors IG story mentions that there will be more fun…we’ll see if they loosen up their sleeves like KGO does because ABC7 @ 7 literally screams KTLA. Especially with the lower thirds when they go to break. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/7/6/someone-is-cranky
  22. Interesting move. Makes me wonder if KBCW will ramp up a 10 pm newscast again or heck even a morning show *shrug*
  23. That’s going to be an interesting move… KGO was first to start a half hour 3 pm show called “Getting Answers.” However instead of a traditional newscast, they ask experts questions the viewers want to know in real-time on todays current topics. During commercial breaks the news continues with post interviews and open to more questions on Facebook live that will be answered on air. KRON airs a full hour of news at 3pm KPIX just joined the 3pm race as well but only a half hour. when 3:30 hits KGO and KPIX go live for the Network Evening shows. KGO continues at 4pm with news while KPIX goes a full hour of Judge Judy until the news at 5 begins.
  24. interesting how the article says KRON not KNTV
  25. Short staffed or Covid at Eyewitness News? It looks like they had to use help the past 2 mornings from KGO with Mike Nicco on the roof for his weather hits since it clashes with ABC7 Mornings and he can’t be in studio for a green screen.
