Oh wow Gari is being phased out just listened to the sampler of CBS Local on NMSA. All this time the morning promo music was CBS Local. Interesting.

Didn’t want to make a new thread under News Music. Wasn’t sure if this is part of a new update with graphics soon….. KPIX now decommissioned the CBS Enforcer Metropolis Package in favor for either a 2021 Version 2 Update or a new CBS Enforcer Version 3 theme. (It’s not the version 3 theme that was uploaded on YouTube a while back and deleted) Metropolis is only used for its 4:30-6am opens only. Millenial Beat, Modern Classic, Epic Energy from Version 2 is also decommissioned for its bumpers and closing music The Noon, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 11pm Opens are now rolled out with the new updated Enforcer theme along with new bumpers and closing music. The new theme is more slower and dramatic. However there is one track on its bumpers which I do like because it’s upbeat and catchy.

Roberta Gonzales announced on her Instagram that she is returning to the airwaves and joining KTVU as a part time meteorologist. It’s been 4 years after she left KPIX to focus on starting her own production company.

Morning Traffic reporter Jenny Milkowski posted on Instagram that she is leaving KFMB and will be moving up the dial across town to KUSI.

I was thinking it was a toolkit because KPIX uses the same Network Eye graphic where it breaks apart and switches from KPIX 5 in white (without the gold 5) to CBSN Bay Area on its monitors in studio.

I’m going to miss the California O&O package (KABC, KFSN and KGO). Even though there are different colors, variant schemes, different consistencies with the fonts on 3 of the stations, It was the most simplistic look without fancy animations and all the bells and whistles.

Ryan Yamamoto announced on Facebook that he is coming home. He is currently anchoring mornings at KOMO and will be anchoring evenings at KPIX 5. He replaces Ken Bastida who recently retired after 30 years. Ryan will be joining Elizabeth Cook at the desk in 2022.

I’ve always wondered about that as well as the other NBC 4’s, FOX 5 and CBS 2 affiliates.

After 30+ years, I think Ken is done and tired. I finally watched his announcement on DVR and he would rather be on his tractor farming. And yes, he said he does farming “LEGALLY”

Amanda Starrantino recently left WRTV and heads west to KPIX as Morning and Noon anchor. She replaces Michelle Griego who left a few months ago to head back home to KCNC where she previously worked.

I just noticed now at 5:30 that they are back to normal sitting together at the news desk at KPIX and not social distancing.

KGO airs World News Tonight followed by ABC7 News @ 4 PM. Yes they use at @ symbol only the 4 pm show. I don’t know why. Followed by ABC7 News at 5 World News Tonight at 5:30, then a full hour of ABC7 News at 6 KPIX will air CBS Evening News at 3:30. Judge Judy at 4pm KPIX 5 News at 5 and 5:30 KPIX 5 News at 6 CBS Evening News at 6:30 KPIX 5 News at 7 (30 min newscast)

KGO doesn’t air a normal half hour newscast at 3pm it’s called “Getting Answers,” which is mostly Covid related interviews/trending news topics and simulcasted on Facebook Live. The conversation continues during commercial breaks where viewers can ask more questions that they don’t cover on air on FB. KRON airs a full hour 3pm somewhat fast paced from their newsroom weekdays.

Starting next Monday, KPIX will be launching a half hour 3pm Newscast with Allen Martin followed by the CBS Evening news with Nora O’Donnell at 3:30pm. this will replace the full 3pm hour of The People’s Court followed by Judge Judy at 4pm. any other CBS O&O’s doing this?

Besides KNSD, which stations still need to roll out? also the olympics are over, they still rockin them rings on most O&Os

For a 7pm slot, pretty interesting that KSWB now wants to compete with KFMB’s CW newscast and KGTV. KUSI started it years back but discontinued it and KGTV took advantage of that time slot.

Maria Arcega-Dunn just announced on Instagram that KSWB is launching a FOX5 News at 7:30pm newscast starting tonight.

After 53 years in the industry. 40 years in the San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose market. 30 years at ABC7, Wayne Freedman is retiring. KGO just did a piece about him and his on air goodbye. This is a big loss following another reporter, Vic Lee who left last year after 50 years in the industry starting at KRON and the last 15 years at KGO.
