C Block 1566 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 It looks like KEZI in Eugene has a new set. Anybody know who designed it? I don't know about you, but I think it needs more monitors.
brb588 114 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Good god. Good set, especially for Eugene. But damn.
Jess 1116 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Meh. WPVI's set literally has no hard duratran banners at all - everything is an LED monitor. KEZI tried, but they didn't reach peak monitor.
Sendir 194 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Is it just me or did they invest in more monitors versus lighting?
Metrodonmartin 42 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Set is by Gil Jimenez Broadcast Design. Gil was THE pioneer in designing news sets
MidwestTV 1244 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 1) inergy seems like an odd music choice for those graphics 2) "we appreciate your patience during this transition..." what, were viewers getting angry and impatient that they were getting a new set and they had to wait a month? 3) i will never understand the logic behind the "our new studio will not change our passion and commitment to you. We're still working just as hard to bring you the news and blah blah blah blah community blah blah connecting with you blah blah we love our viewers" spiel. Just show off the new digs.

MUCH. Just say you got cool new toys because upgrade season. Cut that PR crap NOW because contrary to popular belief, serves viewers nothing, not even a hardcore news junkie. Trust.
atlnews2 595 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 They need to be sure to say "live. local. late breaking." some more, I don't think that viewers will get the subtlety of their branding.
BigPDawg57 0 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I don’t like the lighting. Looks cheap, low-quality. Too bad.

On the flip side I remember one station saying something like "Our new set will prove our commitment to our community blah blah" or some BS. The sets are visual backdrops. Viewers by and large do NOT care. While obviously stations need to update their looks they sometimes try to make it seem like it's life or death.
