Meredith stations stop live steams on websites

Has anyone noticed that the Meredith stations no longer live stream their newscasts on their webpage? They all now direct you to download an app or get the steam through some other device (Roku, etc). Wonder what the reasoning is....? Is it a money thing? Does it take multiple types of streams to send to all the platforms? Or is it a strategic thing?

It's a tracking thing is my guess.

I bet "they" (those people) get better info about you from those sites because they are optimized better with the app.

With the website there are blockers, fixers and untrackers...but with the app you "agree" and download all kinds of new tracking BS.

They want your location and phone number. That way they can target exactly what part of your brain they want to suck out first.

The Meredith web player has been among the worst I've ever used. I'm assuming they're in the process of getting an HTML5 player and dumped the Flash interface to save pain (the two things awful about TV station websites; incompatible players and no easy link to the programming schedule in one click).

Does Livestream still require Flash? Since Adobe is phasing it out completely in a couple of years, you would think some of these streaming services would've started switching interfaces.
