In the Beaumont-Port Arthur Texas market

KFDM-TV Channel 6 (CBS)

Jackie Simien (5 & 10 PM anchor) very nice and professional person.

Liz Wiggins (former 5 & 10 PM anchor) now living private life and retired from journalism

Cecile Burandt (Former 6 & 10 pm anchor) broadcasting legend in the area. came to KFDM in 1974 till early 90's when she "retired" due to personal issues. Her beautiful and ear catching baritone voice can still be heard on Lamar University commercials.

-------------------------------------

KBTV/KJAC-TV Channel 4 (NBC)

A once #1 station in the area...now the bottom of the barrel since Nexstar. but they've had they're fair share of great talent.

Lisa Pinto (Former 6 & 10 PM KBTV anchor) went to WOAI San Antonio for a while, now she has left the business. very professional, personable.

Aimee Fuller (former 5, 6, & 10 PM anchor) Now at KUSI in San Diego...very sweet, honest and professional. met her a few times and quite personable.

Nancy Utter (Former Weekend anchor during KJAC late 80's-early 90's) professional and that Texas drawl in her voice made her a pleasure to listen to. whereabouts unknown.

Donna Rusch (Former KJAC 6 & 10 anchor) left us to go to houston to KNWS 51. Her and Mark Clegg were a powerhouse at 6pm and took the ratings away from KFDM and KBMT.

ReShonda Tate (Former KJAC weekend anchor mid 90's before nexstar takeover)

Kim Hendrix (Former KJAC anchor at 5, 6 and 10 pm) With Gene Tuck in the early to mid 80's, they made KJAC number 1 several times. Now she's at a station in Alabama i believe. Still very pretty, very personable, loves children and willing to stop and chat. Met her a few times as a kid and in my adult life.

------------------------

KBMT-TV Channel 12 (ABC)

Tracy Kennick (former 6 and 10 pm...current Good Morning S.E. Texas) easy on the eyes, professional...a former Miss Utah and 1st Runner Up in Miss USA.

Deedra Wilson (current 6 and 10 pm anchor) very nice, willing to chat with people, professionalism at the top of the list.

Ann Komis - (WFIE-Evansville) - seasoned, great on-air presence. Has worked at nearly every station in Evansville except WEVV (she's been with WFIE since the mid-80s after leaving WEHT). Teaches (or taught, don't know if she still does) communications/journalism at USI.

Shelley Kirk - (WEHT-Evansville) - personable, great presence. Started out as a studio camera operator, became lead co-anchor in January 1994.

Katrina? You've GOT to be kidding. This is the "BEST" female anchors, not worst. She's like nails on chalkboard, and just brings the newscast to a grinding halt anytime they kick into "witty banter" mode. She doesn't seem to portray any sincerity on camera at all.

I'd agree with Carole, Joyce, Kathy, and I'd add Joanne Williams.

As for Joanne, she's one of the last vestiges of the old WITI-TV6 (pre-FOX) style of news reporting. She definitely doesn't fit in anymore over there, because she actually reports the news with a little bit of class.

Joanne is definately one of the best in Milwaukee. I don't know why I didn't think of her. You are right about Katrina, but she is good on the radio. Especially when she fills in on 'KLH.

I'd like to add Lucy Bustamante WWL's late news anchor to the list. She's relatively new, but she is a great anchor and reporter

And I am also going to add Dawn Brown, WWL's weekend weather anchor to the list as well. I love Dawn's enthusiasm, especially when the Saints win a game and she and she does the DB Shuffle (aka Saints victory dance.) Brown hasn't been in the market long, but she is quickly becoming one of my favorite NOLA tv personalities.

And a little closer to home, Karen Abernathy of WLOX is very professional and extremely nice in person.

matt.

KOCO in Oklahoma City, OK (ABC Affiliate)

Jessica Schambach is one the most professional, sparkling, energetic anchors I've ever seen. Her voice is crystal clear, her warmth is astounding, and she is as beautiful as any movie-star. One show and you're hooked for life.
