I know it's late but I just looked at WXIN's new HD look. I noticed how extremely similar it was to KTVI in terms of the graphics and etc.

Makes sense since Local TV (KTVI) and Tribune (WXIN) are sharing resources.

The set doesn't look too bad either. Overall, not a bad job by Tribune with WXIN's new look.

I like WXIN's new look as well.

WTIC goes HD on December 12th. They're apparently doing a weekend launch since they're moving in with the Hartford Courant and using all-new equipment.

KXTV is finally starting to broadcast its newscasts in high definition beginning with the 5:00am broadcast tomorrow, December 16. I can't believe it's taken this long for the ABC affiliate in the 19th largest market in the country to transition to HD, but hey... that's Gannett for you. They've also finally thrown that ugly KUSA hand-me-down set from the mid-1990s into the dumpster and replaced it with (...wait for it!) an FX Group set. And yes, it does look like every other set that FX has had its hands in for the past 12 months.

A small picture of the new set is available on the KXTV website. From that shot, it actually doesn't look half bad.

In El Paso, KDBC's newscasts went HD last month when they moved in with KTSM. Ironically, KDBC's website has no local stories and uses KTSM's weather graphics.

KIAH, in the interim, is broadcasting their newscasts from their newsroom. They also announced on their 9 p.m. news tonight that HD will debut in two weeks.

Looks like KTXL in Sacramento has also taken the Tribune "full HD" plunge. They've also ditched their bastardized KSWB graphics for some really lame in-house stuff, which was a huge mistake. With the KTXL launch, all of the crappy news operations in crappy DMA #20 are now in high definition.

their graphics don't look that bad.

WNDU in South Bend, IN will be going HD "soon" I talked with the GM of the station. He didn't want to make the date public yet...but assured me that it was coming very soon.

WFOR in Miami is expected to go HD in the coming weeks, according to SFLTV.com.

WFOR is already on a temporary set and according to SFLTV.com, they could be in HD in time for the Super Bowl.

Does this mean the only CBS O&Os not in HD are WJZ and WWJ (even though they only air a morning newscast and don't have their own news department)?

WJZ is Currently in HD, WWJ is the only CBS O&O left so far, even though they have a morning newscast

WJZ has been in HD since November.

(Pretty much the same graphics-wise, just changed WJZ DT text to WJZ HD)

Gray's rolling it out in regional phases - expect it by the 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.

You can officially add WFOR to the HD list. They started airing newscasts in HD tonight. I'm currently watching their newcast on-line at CBS4.com and both the graphics and set look great!

There's just something about the gold CBS logo and the blue and white "4" that has a very South Florida feel to it!

That also makes all the English-language newscasts in South Florida HD (I won't count WSFL's "Morning Show").

A small grammatical error in the article title - it says "On High Definition"

e: it's fixed now. I agree the logo is good and unique from the rest of the CBS O&Os.

Except for the duratran in the background which has a BUNCH of wrinkles in it. It looks really tacky.

I agree the duratran needs somehow to be flattened out.

I'm just not liking that refurbished anchor desk.. They should have just taken WBBM's main anchor desk and platform which is alot bigger and nicer and would match that WFOR's set perfectly. It's only a little over than a year old. It was recently removed from WBBM's studio since they don't use it anymore and it's most likely going to end up in the dumpster.

Re: This just in First Coast news and Action News jax are Going HD

NBC Affiliate WTLV TV-12 and ABC affiliate WJXX TV-25 Are Going HD Monday at 5

Also at the same time CBS Affiliate WTEV TV-47 and FOX Affilate WAWS TV-30 are going HD on the same day

Source: http://jacksonville.com/business/2010-01-27/story/jacksonville_newscasts_going_hd

This might be the first time all "big 4" affiliate's local newscasts go HD on the same day.
