TVNewsRI 4 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 In Providence, WPRI is expected to go HD in the summer, while WLNE will try to flip the switch in September (they promised to be 1st in HD - looks like they'll be last instead!).
tw-804 194 Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 WBIR's (Knoxville) 10 News and the new WTNZ newscasts are now in HD. http://www.wbir.com/dontmiss/171530/207/10News-now-broadcasting-in-high-definition-on-WBIR--WTNZ

TheOneManHerd 555 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Add WSAZ to the list, they went HD just today.
Guest NewsHound Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I can confirm that in the Augusta, GA market (DMA #114)... upon completion of "The New Television Park" studios in West Augusta, WJBF ABC 6, WAGT NBC 26, and I assume WFXG's newscasts (produced by WJBF) will all go HD. In fact, Media General and Professional Communication Systems posted a few pictures to WJBF's Facebook page. The building has been delayed for months and months, but these pictures show signs that it's coming along. Originally thought to be moved in by March, WJBF/WAGT will be under one roof by August or September at this rate. They plan to hold a public open house right before they finalize the move to the new station. There have been no pictures posted for WAGT, but the pictures below show WJBF's part of the studio.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Just found out KAKE in Wichita will be making the transition to HD early in July (I knew they were working on it, just didn't have a timeline). They posted picks of one of their trucks getting the body wrap peeled off, and a few picks of the new control room set up. There will also be a few surprises when they launch.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 WTAP in Parkersburg, West Virginia is now broadcasting their local news in HD... Same with WHSV...
TennTV1983 807 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Per Devlin Design Group's blog (http://ddgtv.com/blog/), Sinclair's KABB in San Antonio and WZTV in Nashville are getting new sets at this time. Both stations are expected to go HD in the coming weeks. Source: http://broadcastengi...rollout_041511/ UPDATE: According to Neil Orne's Facebook page, WKRN is also getting a new news set, which is currently being built in Studio B. So between WZTV and WKRN starting HD newscasts soon, and WSMV completely redoing their news set, things are getting interesting in Nashville right now.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 KAKE-TV in Wichita dropped their "ABC 10" logo in favor of a new logo and "enhancement" of their brand -- they are now known as KAKELand. Also, their primary color is definitely red now...
TennTV1983 807 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 KAKE-TV in Wichita dropped their "ABC 10" logo in favor of a new logo and "enhancement" of their brand -- they are now known as KAKELand. Also, their primary color is definitely red now... Looking at some of their videos, it sounds like they have an updated version of 615's AWAAZ package (or could be an entirely new package altogether). UPDATE: KAKEland is indeed using a new custom package by Aircast:
tw-804 194 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 WRIC now doing its news from the newsroom (the FX Group set was dismantled). Coming soon: a brand-new news set and HD newscasts (finally!). I wonder the new set will be the same as KWQC's and (soon) WKRN's. We'll wait and see... Forgot to mention they unveiled their new graphics a few weeks ago (same scheme as KWQC's).
mre29 1563 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 WMUR is in the middle of building a new set in preparation for going HD. http://www.wmur.com/slideshow/what-didnt-make-the-news/28706163/detail.html
mre29 1563 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I stand corrected. The switch happened today. On the other hand, I don't think the set is actually done, as they seem to be avoiding wide-angle shots. Not that I'd be able to tell with my 13-inch 4:3 tube TV...
tw-804 194 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 WRIC added pics of the new HD set construction on their FB page.
TennTV1983 807 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 WRIC added pics of the new HD set construction on their FB page. So, basically, they kept parts of their old set, but completely replaced the weather center (according to what I see in the pics).
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 You might as well add KTXS-TV to the list. KTXS News 12 is now in HD. http://www.ktxs.com/news/28828066/detail.html

susquvalleywgal 521 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 WGAL in Lancaster, PA (Market 41) has become the 2nd station in the area to go HD. FOX43 was first to take the leap. Attached is the 6pm open.
KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 So far, WBIR and WVLT have been airing local news in high definition. I found out just recently that WATE will be airing local newscasts in high definition starting later this Fall.
