A promo for Canal 9's newscasts in January 2005, when it was owned by Daniel Hadad, who invested millions of bucks in technology, such as new vans, cameras, sets and a chopper! When I was a kid, I remember seeing that chopper flying over the Río de la Plata, and that surprised me.

And this is the theme, used between 2003 and 2005:

Some vintage Nuevediario: first, from July 1989 with a throw to break and an excerpt of the sports segment. Oscar Lasalle and Silvia Fernández Barrio anchor, plus Enrique Moltoni on sports.

Finally, a promo of the newscast in January 1991, when it still was Argentina's #1-rated news service! By 1997, the program had fallen to 4th place, behind Telefe (the new news leader), Canal 13 and América 2.

A partial montage of Telefe's evening newscast from last night (this video only includes highlights from the final segment)

I'm editing the post to add the closing theme (WARNING: it's pretty catchy!)

América 2's station ID and rejoin of its late news broadcast from the early hours of Thursday, July 18, 1996, anchored by the excentrical and opinionated Horacio Embón. Includes the weather forecast and a news summary.

Before the 2:15 mark, you'll find some promos of the station's coverage of the 1996 Summer Olympics opening ceremony and the airing of the TV show War of the Worlds!

A full broadcast of Canal 13's late news on Monday, December 7, 1987, anchored by staff announcer Horacio Galloso. At the end of the video, there's a religious message and the schedule for the next day.

The station was still owned by the Argentinian government.

Canal 13 promoting its newscasts in 2012, with a catchy tune as the background music:

That catchy tune belongs to the Argentinian electronic tango band Bajofondo, led by Gustavo Santaolalla. The song is called "Grand Guignol" and it's worth listening to! The songs of this band have been used many times by different TV stations on promos, openers, special reports, etc.

Rodolfo Barili teases some of the stories for Telefe's late news at almost 1am on a quite warm April night in 2006, as you can see on the small clock at the end of the break.

NOTE: for many years during the 2000s, Argentina's private TV stations deregulated the start time for its programs during primetime (8pm-midnight) to increase advertising time and revenue. A small example: a program that was scheduled to air at 10:00pm (and was announced to start at that time on promos as well) could begin at 10:30 or 10:45pm without notifying viewers, and that show could also run longer than usual because of extended commercial breaks. That was the reason for the late news starting at 1:05am, rather than midnight or 12:30am.

On the day that C5N, a new cable news channel premiered in Argentina back in 2007, evening news anchor Teté Coustarot took TV personality Susana Gimenez and her viewers on a tour of one the biggest newsrooms in South America, with the latest in technology. I don't know why, but the newsroom design reminded me of ABC News.

And here's how all began:

Just a personal note: I still remember that day. I was just a 10-year-old boy in elementary school and woke up at 7am to go to school, but before I left I had breakfast in front of the TV watching how a news channel was launched. It was amazing!

Azul TV's station ID and rejoin of its newscast in 2002. The graphics were short-lived, in use between April and August that year, as the station was purchased by new owners. The only thing that remained for another year was the news theme, before adopting the electronic tango trend.
