Guest zas1977
Over the past several weeks, something interesting has happened on Eyewitness News at 11. On 3 separate occasions, Bill Ritter has given Liz Cho a dirty look while previewing an upcoming story. Bill has given Liz these dirty looks while he is trying to be serious about the next story and she decides to cut-up. Usually, Liz is being egocentric, talking about herself or her feelings about the subject-at-hand. Last night was particularly ugly. Bill had begun to intro the next story and Liz interrupted him with a laugh after Lee made a silly comment. If was a fleeting, hateful look, but if looks could kill... I've considered mentioning the observation the last two times they've been witnessed. But, last night, his disdain was blatantly obvious. I rewound the DVR to show my partner, and he agreed that Bill was projecting a hateful look. We laughed at the severity, because the exchange was damn funny. But, It makes me pause to wonder: Who is less professional? Liz for having fun or Bill for visually chastising her, live, on air? I wish I could illustrate my point with a video, but I can't. At the very least, it makes an otherwise rote Eyewitness News broadcast, interesting. I'm just waiting, now, for an actual verbal exchange to erupt... Amra 171
I haven't noticed it until you said it. Too bad that there isn't any video to see it myself Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2876-bill-ritterliz-cho-observation/#findComment-25613 Share on other sites
CBS2 HD 0
I think that Diana Williams would be better with Bill Ritter. She's a professional, she is also one of the veterans at WABC. cbs2idiots 24
I think that Diana Williams would be better with Bill Ritter. She's a professional' date=' she is also one of the veterans at WABC.[/quote'] I agree with you 100%. Diana Williams is a class act and one of the few veteran anchors that I most admire. A true professional. Since Liz Cho arrived at WABC I never truly warm up to her. If Diana Williams cant anchor with Bill I would rather to see Sandra Bookman. SevenHD 0
What are all of you guys talking about? Liz Cho is awesome. Bill and Liz make a great team. There ratings at 6 and 11 are the highest in the New York market. moshewx 19
I dont watch WABC, but I was at a friend's house where Eyewitness News at 11 was on. It seems to me that Liz Cho doesn't care. As if she doesn't really want her job. Her anchoring is not good. I saw the exchange you are referring to and it was a bit odd. I do think, however, that Bill was just trying to get Liz and Lee to compose themselves quickly so that there wasn't any laughter in the background of the tease for the serious story that was coming up. I don't honestly think there is any negative feelings between Bill and Liz. I have been able to meet both of them several times and have had the opportunity to sit and talk with both of them at length about everything from working at WABC to their personal lives and background. They truly care for each other. Bill, especially, cares for Liz and is one of the first people to stand up for Liz if anyone tells her to do something other than be herself on air or says something negative about her. TrfRptr 3
Just because their ratings are the "best" doesn't mean Bill and Liz are the best. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2876-bill-ritterliz-cho-observation/#findComment-25671 Share on other sites
abcbnbcwfox 0
Absolutely agree Trf. Bill is solid all around and she too is a solid reader but I never understood all the hoopla about her. Not stunningly attractive and frequently comes across as snobbish, or maybe it's boredom. jmho. Obviously I know she has a big fan base. Vlad 325
You know, come to think of it, I don't really enjoy the 6:00PM and 11:00PM broadcasts as much as the 5:00PM because the pair are just a bit boring to me. They are too straightforward and straight faced quite often, they need to add a bit more "fluff" and more "happy talk" to the broadcasts, lol. Like Chuck and Sue & Chris and Kristine. I mean the only time you can actually laugh when watching those broadcasts are during the sports reports or the weather reports. It seems like they are not having fun doing the broadcasts. I think Bill and Diana were a much better match. Bill and Liz's Chemistry is still questionable...
